as the title says what are your top 5 please leave a little explanation for why you like those 5 the most for me it had to be

1.Persona 3:fes a great rpg game for me its what got me hooked on SMT games

2 .Hack//G.U Volume 3 this is the best out of the 3 G.U disks for me Xth form is awesome and the marriage part was a good addition i loved the series period

3. Devil may Cry 3 Speical Edition: i love DMC games and this is no exception i saw it at the store one day and just said to my self Im getting this NOW! loved the game i still play it to this day Virgil mode was just a added bonus since i didnt play the original DMC3

4. DBZ Tenkaichi 2- i still own this game i play it from time to time its not the best fighter out there but its pretty dang good im glad i decided to get it

5.KH II : i could not make this list without having a KH game on here the series is promising and this game even though easier then the first one was fun for me( im still trying to beat it on proud mode X_X)

Shu: Making this a sticky, since there are still a lot of folks who play PS2 out there and want to know where to good games are at. Also if ya'll don't mind add some description to why you think they are on your top 5.

I.E. Disgaea - Due to the well thought out story line, the battle sequences and the dark yet humerous plot. It took the final fantasy tactics game and one upped it in the most unique sort of way. Great game.

5. Rouge Galaxy- awesome RPG with great visuals

4. Jak 2/3- great games

3. Sly Cooper series- great games, its fun to actually be a thief for once

2. Dual Hearts- Amazing game, so underrated

1. Kingdom Hearts series- Simply amazing

This is just out of my collection:
5. Burnout 3: Takedown
4. Lego Star Wars
3. Guitar Hero II
2. Kingdom Hearts I
1. Sly Cooper. I actually won the 3rd game of the series off of a Cartoon Network Sweepstakes. I called the 1-800 number and they gave me a free game. Well... I had to pay for shipping... lol

* Primal - One of my first PS2 games as it came in a bundle with it, and it's one of my favourites because I just thought it had quite an original concept and... well, I enjoyed it?

* FFXII - I much preferred it to FFX, although I do like that game. I loved the storyline and all of the characters (apart from Penelo, she was annoying as hell).

* Conflict: Global Storm - As you can probably tell I like all kinds of games and this game had me hooked for aaaages when I played it. I wasn't all that great tbh, completion on easy was the best I could manage but it's a laugh to play and I want to start another playthrough soon.

* Sonic Mega Collection Plus - I used to love Sonic 3 on the megadrive (man I miss that thing) so a collection of all the sonic games was probably one of the best buys of my life. I can play that game for hours and hours and hours.

* James Bond 007 Everything or Nothing - Ok, cheesy James Bond game, but I absolutely loved this game. I love first person shooters and this one was just so entertaining. Quite easy though, I found, but it was still fun.

That was hard to pick, considering I have 44 PS2 games total... they're in no order either :lew:

1. Final Fantasy XII - I still say this is one of the best Final Fantasy games ever made, and is definetely the best of the PS2 FF games. A better battle system than the usual turn-based monotony, brilliant dialogue (from 95% of the cast, anyway) and great soundtrack and voice acting, as well.

2. Drakengard - An overlooked classic, is Drakengard. Bored of hacking enemies to pieces? Get on the dragon and blow them to hell instead! The game was actually pretty hard, as well, the storyline made absolutely no sense whatsoever due to the editing, and I still haven't seen anything in a video game that is scarier than the Grotesqueries. The second made much more sense, but it wasn't quite as awesome as the first. The soundtrack was awesome, as well~

3. Disgaea - Honestly, I prefer the PSP version, but the first time I played this was on PS2, and it is definetely one of the PS2's best games. It still makes me cackle with delight every time I play it, and it has, quite literally, hundreds of hours to it, thanks to the insanely high level caps, and the tendency for the more powerful enemies to be well into the thousands in levels.

4. Star Ocean: Till the End of Time - Considered the black sheep of the Star Ocean family (and, having played all the other Star Ocean games since asides Blue Sphere, I'd be inclined to agree) this was still a pretty good RPG. Its was the first one I played with an affection system and a PROPER real-time battle system, and it was a completely new experience for me. The storyline was pretty good, although like all Star Ocean games it goes insanely futuristic towards the end for no real reason, and it had some memorable moments and characters...although, up until Hope Estheim came into existence, Roger was the most irritating video game child in existence. I am so glad he wasn't a mandatory character...

5. Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria - Lezard Valeth alone gets this game a mention. Otherwise, its got some of the best soundtrack in existence - screw Uematsu, Sakuraba is where its at - and a highly addictive and relatively simple battle system that is flexible . The storyline is charged and full of surprises (and several unanswered questions...) and is enjoyable from beginning to end. This was one of the last games I bought on PS2, and I'm glad I didn't skip it. Roll on VP3 Hrist.

K:

Persona 3: Its a fantastic JRPG with a great plot, characters and soundtrack. I <3 the Persona series and this is at the top for me.

Persona 4: Another fab JRPG from the Persona series that again delivers a fantastic plot, characters and soundtrack.

Shadow Hearts: A nice dark gothic RPG with a good plot twist and characters. Its the sequel to Koudelka, the gothic PS1 RPG.

Wild Arms 3: It was one of the first cell shaded games to be released and is part of another great series of RPGs. Plus its a western :)

Final Fantasy X: This paved the way for the Final Fantasy series IMO with the voice acting.

5: Tales of Syphonia
The only game in the series I've played, and although it doesn't get much attention, I like it. The gameplay just felt more free than other games I guess...? I never finished the game and I hope I get the chance someday.

4: Megaman X Collection
Some of my favorite games all in one! Megaman X1-3 are old favorites of mine. I loved every minute of the games, from the tutorial level of X1 to
being cornered by the Sigma Virus
in X3. X4 and past were ok, but don't have the same affect on me. Six great games all in one makes a collection like no other.

3: Final Fantasy X
*sigh*...Where should start? This is one of the best games ever made. It makes you want to be a better person. From the souldtrack to the ending, no part seems bland. QUITE THE OPPOSITE. This game has one of the best soundtracks of any game out there. The story will bring you to tears.
As for music, To Zanarkand and Movement in Green are epic. It makes you WANT TO POUR YOUR ENTIRE BEING AND SOUL INTO YOUR SINGING AND THAT SINGING SHALL PEIRCE THE HEAVENS and all that crap.

2: Chrono Trigger
I DON'T KNOW OR CARE IF THIS IS A PS1 GAME OR PS2 BUT IT'S EPIC ENOUGH TO BREAK THE RULES SO SUE ME!!
This game is legendary. Everyone likes it. Unique characters, amazing music, engaging story, multiple endings, and more make up this game. It's near perfect in every way and it's hard to argue that Chrono Trigger just might be the best RPG ever. You'll cross time in a journey to save the world from pure evil. The game has an intresting array of era's to travel though; Prehistory, Antiquity, Middle Ages, Present, Apocalypse, Future, and even the end of time. Frog's Theme is one of the most awesome and upbeat theme in my opinion, and Lavos' Theme is capable of inducing nightmares. PLAY. THIS. GAME.

1: Shadow of the Colossus
This game is pure fun. You take on 16 huge monsters (ever wonder why it's called a "Colossus"?) varying from about 10 times your size to at LEAST 1000 times your size in an attempt to revive your girlfriend. You have no "guns" or "magic", just your sword, bow, and trusty horse and only companion, Agro.
While killing the Colossi, you come to realize that your killing nature. These mainly peace-loving creatures are basically the only wildlife you see besides your horse, and the occasional lizard or bird making it really sad as you shove your sword into the creature and it lets out a heartbreaking howl.
The game isn't simply about stabbing at the colossus at all, the real challenge is climbing up patches of fur or hair on them to find their weak point, while they try to shake you off. The fact that you had to use the enviornment to kill them added to the bittersweet fun.
This game is a sad game. Everything is dark and desolate. Nonetheless, great game with many secrets.

1) Xenosaga: Episode 2

:8F:

I don't even know where to begin to describe my undying love for this series. It's got an incredible story full of depth, plot twists, amazing character development, and IMO one of the best fictional characters ever created in any medium, Albedo Piazzolla. This one, Episode 2, is my favorite above the others because it focuses primarily on his story--his relationship with his estranged brother Rubedo, his development into the brilliant, slightly kooky mastermind that he is, and his integral role in the events that shape the destiny of the entire universe. This game is phenomenally compelling, full of replay value (for me, anyway), aesthetically and aurally pleasing, and even contains some interesting sidequests to distract you from the main story if you so desire (or, as I call it, putting off the end for as long as you can xD). Absolutely amazing game, I can't say enough good about it.

2) A tie between Xenosaga: Episode 1 and Xenosaga: Episode 3

See the above entry for a list of appropriate adjectives :) Though these episodes focus more on Shion, who is perhaps the character I like least in the series, they are still full of excitement, wonder, and depth, just like Episode 2. Actually the gameplay in either of these is slightly superior to that of Episode 2 as well, and they do have more comprehensive menus, as well as databases which can keep you busy for hours with interesting reading, which is something Episode 2 lacks :hmmm: However, the overall series is phenomenal, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

3) Star Ocean III: Till The End Of Time

Freaking incredible game. Aside from containing Albel Nox, one of the coolest game characters of all time :x3:, this game has awesome environments, a fun and challenging battle system, and an interesting, original story. There are no unforeseeable random battles, which is always great, and the map percentage system for each area was incredibly satisfying to complete. I enjoyed the story for the most part, and also the fact that you could choose from a bunch of different optional characters. The invention sidequest was very entertaining as well, and I liked a lot of the musical tracks, particularly "Around in the Wilderness" and "Lakes and Marshes with Doubt" :D The only real complaint I have about the game is the fact that aside from Albel, all the other playable characters are fairly static in their personas, and get along with each other really well. I always find this sort of thing irritatingly unrealistic, because a group of 6 or 7 or so people banding together for any cause would still have interpersonal gripes of some sort :jtc: Perhaps that's why I like Albel so much, because he's the exception; but at the same time I feel like he was slighted as well--if I had written the story, then after
they'd tamed Crosell, Albel would've been the one to heroically ride him into battle with the Thunder Arrow and save everyone, thus earning him the right to become captain of the Dragon Brigade, restoring the good name of Nox, and ensuring that his father didn't die for nothing when he'd initially tried to join the Dragon Brigade and failed as a child
:gonk: There was so much to his story, and yet they failed to take it to its potential :sad3: I guess it can't be helped at this point...but at least, we still have the one other thing I love about this game...

l_6cceb8fba51748df9ae5c12c049c6f55.jpg

THE BABY DRAGON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :x3: :x3: :x3: :x3: :x3: I mean honestly, OMFG is this not the cutest little guy you've ever seen in your life? :inlove: He is SOOOOOO adorable! <3

Uh...*ahem*

4) FFXII

Despite the fact that I gripe constantly about the character development in this game, I still enjoy playing it very much. The overall plot is pretty good, and the world is incredibly immersive--honestly, I don't think I'd ever turned on an RPG just for the sake of playing sidequests and leveling up until I played this game. I usually hate doing those things in an RPG, but the environments in this game are so lush and involved that I've spent more time running around than completing the actual story. The variety of camera angles makes for an even better experience, and it's actually the most challenging FF I've played with respect to a lot of the hunts and extra areas (Pharos Subterra :rage:), which is nice for a change.

5) Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits

I was actually so impressed by this game that after playing it the first time, I went on to Amazon and wrote it an extremely positive review.
I was absolutely astonished at how much they could pack into such a short game (about 70 hrs for me), and was thoroughly disappointed when it was over, even though it took me a week to figure out how to beat the final boss. A++ for character development; every main character in it has to rethink his or her own ideology in order to work towards their final goal, and all must cooperate with those whom they have great personal grievances against at some point to proceed (with the exception of Bebedora and Maru). The concept is so ingrained in the story that a handful of the battles are even centered around it, and at times I had difficulty deciding who to root for. (I personally happened to prefer Darc's side of the story by far, but there were things that fascinated me about all the human characters as well, particularly Maru and Ganz). There were a lot of great plot twists as well, and the dialogue was also quite realistic compared to some other RPGs I've played. The music was fantastic, too--the songs were easy to listen to repetitively, and I particularly liked the battle theme with the bagpipes experienced by the Deimos party. There are no blatantly annoying characters in this game either, and even the ones I liked the least were only less likeable for their personality traits, and not inconsistencies created by the programmers.

1 Tekken 3,Tekken Tag, Tekken 5
2 Rogue Galaxy
3 FFX
4 GTA San Andreas
5 NFS Underground

These are the games I played excessively, especially Rogue Galaxy that game is absurd awesome and addictive !!
FFX = I played it 3 times (storywise etc.)
GTA San Andreas I played all the time , chilin in my car and jamrock music bangin in it.
Tekken always with friends, smashing people with my standard but oh so awesomely skills.
NFS always tuning up my wheels. awesome YEAH!

5- God of War II: It's loud, it's dumb, It's obnoxious and it's "friggin' awesome". GoW II worked well as a stress reliever. The first GoW was almost as good but II amp'd everything that's good about the first one.

4-Guilty Gear XX Accent core plus: I don't like Tekken, I hate Street Fighter, and Mortal Kombat hasn't been good since the second installment. Guilty Gear is a such a rush. It has everything I hate about anime, but present it in the most badass way with an excellent soundtrack.

3-Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4: This game is the best turn based RPG I've ever played. The setting and plot is well thought out, the characters are not as generic as many other JRPGs, and the themes of the game are deep and meaningful. I still don't get why it got an M rating. This game is perfect for teens, especially ones that are trying to discover themselves.

2- Shadow Of The Colossus: I sometimes cringe at myself for calling it a game. SoTC was an experience like no other (in terms of gaming of course). The scenery, scope and soundtrack are beyond excellent. Best final boss fight ever.

1- Final Fantasy XII: XII is the only Final Fantasy that I could truly call 'Epic'. The Story is the best written in the main series (doesn't mean it's perfect) and the battle system was creatively designed. Alexander O Smith did an excellent job at localizing the game. The dialogue and voice acting was well executed. It has my favorite FF soundtrack, my favorite characters, my favorite fantasy world and my favorite battle system in any RPG I've played to date. And it's my favorite PS2 game.

2.Final Fantasy X: The game that made me want to get a Ps2 in the 1st place

1.Sly Cooper Series:One of the Few Non RPGS for the Ps2 that I liked

1. TimeSplitters 2. Even though I've not played it for y onnnnnnnnks...I should really complete Future Perfect D: TS2 I was obsessssssssive over though, I got it an ex for Crimbo when it first come out, and he always tried to get me to co-op/multi-player, and I was never interested, I jut couldn't do it :wacky: Then one day I was bored while he was out fishin' decided to have a bash on easy...and thus the obsession was born. I wasn't happy til I had all golds/platinums in all the arcade awards, and I became unbeatable :wacky:

2. FFX. Auron. That is all

3. Dragon Quest VIII. Absolutely fantastic game. Love the cell shading graphics - the story is ace and it's no bloody walk in the park either!

4. Tony Hawk 3. Another game I was utterly shite at til one day.... I wish I still had it, I borrowed it out yonks back and haven't seen it since, I'm sure I could probabyl pick it up for a coule of quid somewhere

5. Ehhh probably the Sims/The Sims Bustin oot.... hours upon hours of amusement

This list is just out of what I own, so there may be better games out there.

5. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - awesome stealth game.

4. God of War 2 - Great game

3. Ratchet and Clank series - Awesome original games

2. Kingdom Hearts - Loved it.

1. Shadow of the Colossus - In my opinion, one of the best PS2 games.

My top 5 are :

5. Timesplitter's 2
4. Need For Speed Pro Street
3. Kingdom Hearts
2. FFXII
1. FFX

My 5 ps2 faves, in random order though.

Devil may cry 3- Didn't think I would be so addicted to this one. The characters are awesome, especially Dante. He's just knows he's awesome that makes him awesome xD He has awesome quotes and great fighting skills. The gameplay was good, but do think this game is very difficult.
Final fantasy X- Great story, nice gameplay, I liked how every character had something unique. Voice acting could have been better though.
Kingdom hearts 1- I liked this one, I liked the worlds and most of the quests.
Resident evil 4- This game was way creepier than the 5th one. The music scares you and these zombies at least pop up unexpecting.
Eeeh, Don't really know a 5th one, it would probably be a Final fantasy game but I can't really choose. It goes between XII and DoC then.

1.Final Fantasy X-Best overall game/RPG
2.GTA:San Andreas-Best chilling out game
3.Pro Evolution Soccer games-Best sport game
4.Need for speed Most wanted-Best racing game
5.Tekken 5-Best fighting game

my opinions of course for the PS2

5!

WWE Smackdown Here Come The Pain! The fifth installment of the WWE Smackdown series. It had beautiful game play the best graphics seen in the Smackdown franchise and the season mode was amazing with ton of awesome storylines to enjoy. In the season mode you could play around with the rosters of both brands. Join RAW or join Smackdown. Even though either way the staff is more suitable to RAW than it is Smackdown, but who cares? It also had one of my most favorite roster in a WWE game since some of the earlier titles like No Mercy.

4!

Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition! Devil May Cry 3 was easily the best in the video game franchise IMO and the Special Edition worked out the kinks from the original game. Readjusting the difficulty settings and actually making "easy" easy instead of something else. The game play and such were already mind-blowing at the time so the addition of Vergil as a playable character was off the hook! I love that guy. Actually wished in the boss fights with Vergil instead of a Vergil in a red costume it was actually Dante video game model. But whatever. Can't have it all. Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition was still a great game and a must have for Devil May Cry fans IMO.

3!

Soul Caliber III! This was the game that broke me into the Soul Caliber video game franchise and it was an awesome fighting game. The most memorable feature for me, and one that I wished was in the fourth one, was the story mode they have where you play your own created character and it's a mixed of war strategy and the classic Soul Caliber fighting. Not to mention that this game had the best created character section I have ever seen for a fighting game, or a game in general. Even some later WWE games and Mass Effect character creation pale next to this. There were just so many options to play around with.

2!

Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance! Revolver Ocelot never looked better! This game took advantage of everything the PS2 had to offer and so much more. It took Sons of Liberty to another level and added in awesome extras like the V. R. Training section and the ability to rearrange characters in certain scenes. Not to mention adding stand-alone stories where you got to play as Solid Snake allowing us to play with him some more instead of just the Tanker scenario in the original game. Also awesome story as I've come to expect from a MGS title. They never disappoint.

1!

Final Fantasy X! This should come as no surprise to those of you who have been following my posts. To me it's not just the best PS2 game or the best Final Fantasy game but the best game I've ever played. I know that's a pretty bold statement but in my mind it is the best. It sucks you in from the very beginning and everything just falls into place. Even the characters I didn't like do their part with the result ending in an awesome game. Yuna! You go girl! Whoa... That was a little X-2 bleeding through. Bad, Ayen! Bad! Anyways that's my list.

Final Fantasy X - X is a classic, must-buy game in my opinion. Then again I'm sure some didn't like it, but... well, I don't know.

Final Fantasy X-2 - Despite this not being one of my favorite games, it still has quality and feature to it. The humor is occasionally or usually good.

Shadow of the Colossus
- This is a great game, a classic.

Ratchet and Clank series - Worth a try. I like the novelty of the games.

GTA - While it's not my favorite game, it gives you something a bit different. I really don't play it but that doesn't mean I don't acknowledge it as a good game.

God damn it the PS2 was such a fine console it had plenty of brilliant games which are hard to narrow down to a simple 5, so i'll try even though i'm likely to change my mind with the wind.

1. Steambot Chronicles - Steam punk mecha robots in an RPG, pure gold. Anime style visuals, choices that effect the game, abit of a dating sim, extensive customization, plenty of mini games and the ability to tear other steambots to pieces.

2. Metal Gear Solid 3 - Snaaaaaakkkee!!!! That guy knows how to get shit done. Even Chuck Norris would have a hard time going toe to toe with Big Boss.

3. Need For Speed Underground - It was a fresh racing game and so many hours solo and with friends were wasted on it, i don't regret a single split second.

4. Star Ocean 3: Till The End Of Time - Ho damn what an RPG, immersive, good graphics, brilliant story and one hell of a twist near the end. One of the greats that every RPG fan should play at some point of their life.

5. Tenchu 3: The Wrath Of Heaven - My first Tenchu game which completely hooked me, dropping from the ceiling and impaling people had never been so addictive.

A few shout outs to games i wanted to put in; Tekken 4, Beatdown Fists Of Vengance, GTA 3 + San Andreas, Hitman Contracts and Devil May Cry 2.

5. Burnout Revenge - I'm not usually into racing games, but crashing into other cars has never been so fun.

4. Okami - I don't usually play action/adventure games either, but Okami dropped like a bomb on me out of nowhere, and it's an absolutely fantastic game. Beautiful, original, and a helluva lot of fun to play.

3. Star Ocean: Till the End of Time - This was my first SO game, and I was hooked. Great setting, expansive universe (the encyclopedia feature really helped with this), fun combat, a mostly-likeable cast of characters (with the exceptions of Sophia, Roger, Peppita, Tynave and Farleen) with mostly-decent voice acting, a good amount of optional content and features, and one hell of a plot-twist which blew my mind.
It suffered from some questionable pacing early in the game, as well as some clunky and unnatural looking character textures and movements, but was overall a very good game.
Only two other RPGs outrank it on the PS2...

2. Kingdom Hearts I...& II - Okay, so I lied, that's three games higher than SO, but I couldn't decide which one was better. Both games are exceptional examples of what can be done when you apply FF sensibilities outside the box.
While the first game felt more like the 'true' Kingdom Hearts, and II is to be blamed for the amount of spin-offs and midquels, both had great qualities. II was superior gameplay wise, as it was more player-friendly and easier to pick up than the first game's sometimes-clunky controls, but 1 had that fresh, original feel that so many people loved.

1. Final Fantasy X - Yup, I'm a RPG junkie, and FFX was easily the best RPG to be released on the PS2. Character development, corrupt religion, iconic villains, badasses, lame-ass losers, great music, decent voice-acting, turn-based fighting that didn't feel like it dragged... it had the whole package.
While the replay value wasn't particularly high, it had plenty of optional extras, especially in the PAL and International releases. For the odd complaint I had about the game, most of what I feel towards this game is overwhelmingly positive.
I still hate Seymour, though.
