Prometheus

I got the impression from the original movie that
the company behind Nostromo's voyage was already aware of the xenomorphs. At the big twist moment of the movie Ash (who is a goddamn robot! :argor:) was carrying out secret orders from the company to bring the xenomorph back with him, even if the safety of the crew was in jeopardy. All along the crew were kept in the dark about it, but the true purpose of the mission, if I did not misinterpret the movie, was for Ash to carry the alien back with the ship so that it could be used as a weapon of sorts
.

Therefore, I'm not surprised that there is room for a prequel. I'm not sure if I'd like it though. I've only really seen the original Alien as I was told that the other ones would ruin it. However, this one does look interesting. It's more than just the xenomorphs too, it seems. In fact I didn't spot an alien at all in the trailer, but I think that Alien trailers were often like that.

Don't know if its canon (legit), but the first aliens vs predators could be the first encounter the company has with xenomorphs. :ohshit: Not sure how twilight zoned the new movies are in the original timeline...

Its like star wars all over again. Ridley Scott directed the original alien movie back in the 1970's - 1980's. Its amazing x 100 for its time. If not for dated fx & grainy video quality it could have been made recently.

Close to 30 years later, Ridley Scott's making a prequel. :ohshit:

Oh, well.. At least we can be relatively certain the gungan sensation, Jar Jar Binks, won't be in it!!

Edit, edit, edit. Falling asleep........ *thud*

it's set quite a while before alien. a colony of humans go in search of their 'makers' who, i think, turn out to be the space jockeys. the space jockeys also created xenomorphs as a failed attempt at humans. or something along those lines.

it's not a prequel per sé, but at the same time it is. ridley scott isn't a fan of star wars style prequels where it ruins the twist in the later films (no, i am your father).

it has michael fassbender, so i will see it. i love that he's getting bigger roles and a lot of recognition now because he's been a great actor for years, and this is what he deserves.

According to the uppity pro analysts I've heard... the life cycle of xenomorphs is intended to draw parallels to rape in modern society. Facehugger implants egg(rape). Chestburster explodes out of someones chest(giving birth?). :ohshit:

This being the prequel, and Ridley Scott being the original director, I wonder if he'll make the rape aspect more obvious... I hope he doesn't. There hasn't been a sex scene in the series yet, no need to start now...

:argor:

You're kidding me! A movie about Prometheus? Excuse me while I tell my boyfriend and he gets super excit-...What? A movie about aliens...that has nothing to do with Prometheus...:rage: :derp:

you're reading into it far too much

Ridley Scott released this stand alone short at the TED talks conference, I guess as a marketing and promotional thing for the upcoming Prometheus movie. :ohshit:

I loved the first two Alien movies... The last two were pretty average installments, I have been following this movie since it was announced. I have already booked my IMAX 3D tickets for me and friend to see it on release. I just want it to be a tense and teasing experience, a bit like the first movie and not so blown out action based like the sequel. Roll on June 1st here in the UK.

so i managed to see an advanced screening at work last night, and it's everything i hoped it would be. aside from being a good alien prequel, it's both a really good sci-fi film (of which there haven't been many for years) and a proper ridley scott film. it felt a little like a remake of alien at times since it follows almost the exact same formula, and none of the big surprises were actually surprising at all. but despite that, it's a great film and it i think alien fans will love all the little nods towards alien. it ended really well too, and sets itself up for a potentially really good sequel.
michael fassbender was particularly good in it, as he always is.

I was actually really disappointed. I expected more. It sucks ass that its a prequel of alien cause I never knew tht to begin with.
Thought it was independent from alien. The ending argh. First half was ok. I should have known the android was familiar. I should have researched more about this movie before I saw it. Cause then my expectations would be different.

What weapon was in their ship? Some bacteria or the aliens? They would stay like cobras? cause I think aliens now are mixed human and those snake things lol im confused

Im not sure I watched the same film as you poo hahaha

I can't say I didnt enjoy it, but it wasnt great, there's an unreal amount of plot holes, and dumbarse things happening. How can they not have know what had happened to those 2 guys when thier locations were on the map, and it was all recorded? How did 3 vehicles leave the alien cave, when only 4 people left (After tattoo face guy and glasses guy were still in there) when there was 2 people per quad, plus the (self driving?)buggy? I suppose you could argue there were other people that went with them... maybe they had a chauffer that we never see....

How the FUCK was she able to walk after giving herself a ceserean, and not even telling anyone, she just stumbled in the room, half naked with her stomach stapled up, after also fighting 2 people off who were trying to restrain her, yet she managed to carry out that procedure on herself - why didnt the guys restraining her prior to this, like, give chace when she ran off? and then question what the hell she had done to herself when she reappeared

what motivated david to spike whatsisfaces drink with that goo? what was he hoping to acheive? his motives were never explained? was her jut...curious? had someone ordered him to? did he know he would somehow impregnate his wife?

What was the point at all of charlize theron in this film? the old guy being there wasnt a shock, so much as wtf... why did he need to be there secretly, having made out he was dead? who on the ship would have cared if he said, well, im paying you, so im coming i wanna see what these guys can do. and ooooh hes her dad... i hope that wasnt supposed to be a shock either, it just made me cringe
Fassbender made it, he was great, but he was the only thing keeping it together really

I am seeing this on wednesday but I don't mind to read little spoilers etc...but I mean as long as it is better than Alien 3 and 4 I am all good to go for this to be honest haha.

It isn't bad, it's just a bit....wtf'ery in quite alot of places. Fassbender is brilliant, he makes it worth watching. I was really hoping to be scared witless tbh ):
