Sony expects the PlayStation store to return on Tuesday, May 24, according to a memo sent by Sony to developer and publishing partners.

When the PlayStation store returns, Sony will begin by resuming the scheduled releases that were interrupted by the PSN downtime.

Alongside the store's relaunch will be content originally scheduled for April 26 and the first PlayStation update affected by PSN downtime. Three days later on May 27, there will be another store update for games originally scheduled for May 3.

The following week, the PlayStation store will update twice on May 31 and June 3, covering content that was supposed to release during the past three weeks. At that point, the PlayStation store will be back on schedule and return to a single content update each week.

Though these are Sony's stated plans for relaunching the PlayStation store, the memo says that the firm is willing to adjust content releases on a case-by-case basis.

Users will also be able to download their free games as part of Sony's 'Welcome Back' program once the PlayStation store returns.

hmm interesting i hope thats true
can finaly download some new content then

guess i'll wait and see for myself^^

I was getting worried that the store was gonna be up and running during my away time, and due to that 30 days to get the free games I would miss it. Now it's gonna be up a week before I leave so give me enough time to decide what free games I want.

It is good that the Playstation store is coming back pretty soon. I never bought anything off it though and the welcome back free games is a nice addition considering Psn was down for ages. I know for a fact that when UC III and other games come out I will want DLC though.

PlayStation Network is scheduled to undergo maintenance today, from about 8am until approximately 5pm Pacific time. During this time, registration and Account Management will be inaccessible, including the password reset process. While some users may experience difficulty signing in to PSN, the majority of consumers will be able to play online as well as sign in to external sites that require PSN authentication (like this one).
For those asking about the PlayStation Store, we’re still targeting restoration of all services by the end of this month. Contrary to reports, the Store will not be publishing today.
Stay tuned to the PlayStation Twitter feed for updates and a notice when maintenance has concluded.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Rumour: PlayStation Store to return tomorrow

As usual nothing is really concrete when it comes to discussing the ETA of the PlayStation Store and this is because Sony fears that it might not be able to fill its promise to the consumer which could result in more hate if the date rolls around and still no PlayStation Store to be found. Remember when they said that the PlayStation Network should be up within a week and it wasn’t? How many people, articles and reports were made about this? Sony doesn’t want the same mistake to reoccur so it isn’t giving us an ETA on the PlayStation Store until it’s absolutely sure it’s fine to bring it back, but maybe if we all think about it, the PlayStation Store will be public again tomorrow and here’s some of the reasons why I think it will be.

Sony has notified everyone before a week in advance that there will be a maintenance taking place, yet there was one this week without us even being notified or even knowing what they were actually doing behind the scenes. PSN has been up and down during this week, maintenance or not, which actually seems quite fishy. Maybe the PStore is being tested every time PSN is down? Then again maybe not but when has Sony ever given us the heads up for a maintenance a week in advance?

The PStore is normally updated on Tuesday, so it would make sense if it returns during tomorrow’s maintenance and not only that but there was strong rumours a week before pinpointing that the store will be returning last Tuesday which further supports the speculation that it will be returning after tomorrows maintenance.

Another reason is it could be tied to the Welcome Back programme they have set up once the PStore is back. They said the games will be available to download for a whole month, so if you think logically why would Sony open the store on the 27th May when it can just open the PStore on the 31st May and tell everyone a month from now which would be June 1st, that’s when the Welcome Back programme will be expiring. It would make it less difficult for the public to memorise and it makes more sense rather than it expiring sometime like the for example, 28th June.

Final reason is because the developers waiting any longer, with each day the PStore is late more developers are becoming angrier. The reason is once the PStore is back up it will be flooded with new content and some content will without a doubt get overshadowed. We know Sony is planning to release games and other content more than once a week so with maybe more than 2 updates during a week, content is guaranteed to be overshadowed.

Which brings us back to tomorrow, as you can see many strong rumours and ideas which certainly make sense to why the PStore should return tomorrow, hopefully. Do you guys think it will be returning tomorrow?

For those of you confused about the Welcome Back program and it's details, please give this a look over.

Take note of the fine print at the bottom, however. This bit in particular:

Access to the 30 days free PS Plus subscription is only available for those countries where PS Plus is offered. You will have access to the PS Plus content planned for May for 30 days. Access to the free games and exclusive features finishes at the end of the 30-day subscription period. Anything you buy with exclusive discounts, dynamic themes and premium avatars are yours to keep forever.

Perfect.. as I always wanted some more avatars. I do not think I ever even changed my psn avvy yet.. XD. I guess the rumor about UC III beta being given to everyone early was not true. 28th for early people(psn+ or infamous II) and now apparently it starts the 4th of July instead of 5th. So is it back up and running yet? :hmmm:

The Playstation store is not up yet, no. At least there is still an open beta for everyone, though. (y)

Where did you see it is now the 4th of July? Everything I saw said the 5th. Linkage?

PlayStation Store Is Available & Updated Now

"The PlayStation Store is back online and thank you everyone for your patience. You will notice a huge lineup of new downloadable games, demos, add-on content, themes, avatars and videos. Also, PlayStation Plus has been updated with new full game trials, free games and DLC, free avatars and even more discounts.

You may have noticed that the content promised as part of the Welcome Back offer is not yet live. It is currently in the final stages of testing and will be available to download soon; we’ll be sure to let you know when.

The next PlayStation Store and PlayStation Plus update will be this Friday, June 3, and then we will roll right into some special publishes starting next week for E3 (so be sure to check back daily!)."

Good to hear it was up last night. I will check later in the day and get my free games. I never had any psn funds so.. I am glad that these are going to be free. Probably Infamous and little big planet. :hmmm:

The Welcome Back package won't be fully up until Sony has done their final staging tests.

So, we have to wait for the word to come out before we even get anything for free.

Did anyone else get any games marked as "Bought" that they have not? The game Playstation Move Heroes was marked as such for me, even though I made no such purchase. I downloaded it and am installing it as we speak to double check that it is not a time trial, but I am positive it was not indicated as such. Time trials = Blue bag and purchases = red.

As much of a benifiting situation as it is, this could be a karmatic choice somewhere down the line with my relations with Sony. I will call this afternoon.

It has been down for such a long while now. =/. I am glad to see it back up finally. =). And we get FREE stuff!? Even better!

I think part of it is also because they want the actual Playstation Plus members to take benefit of their other goodies (free mini games and such). Since we all get free Playstation Plus membership for a month, I don't think it's part of their agenda to let everyone take advantage of the stuff they put up last night. :hmmm: I mean, those were a lot of good deals. That way they can say that regular Playstation Plus members do get some advantages as well, because people were curious about that. "What about those who already have the Playstation Plus membership? Do we get some sort of incentive like the others too?" Though that's just my guess.
