Move "list threads" to the Spam Coliseum

:rage: I must have a way to boost my post count.
If it were an issue of quality then most threads should be in spam or the lobby. Threads like what time do you go to bed or would you ever eat broccoli on a pizza. The same with FF threads too.

If people keep to the two sentence minimum, I fail to see the issue. People actually put effort into those posts for the most part and people who don't adhere to the rules are warned. If they keep it up, their posts are deleted. What's the issue if the rules are enforced, just like anywhere else?

And every now and then, there is some discussion that breaks out in that thread. Part of the reason it's not in spam is so that it doesn't get spammed and derailed like everything in spam tends to get.

I don't see the issue if it's moved to the Lobby. Even if you call it the serious spam section, rules are more seriously in these areas. At least move it there so people can post what they want on the subject without it being derailed.

No I think these threads are fine the way they are. Some people type more than a paragraph for these posts and put thought into it. I think it should stay as it is really.

If they were moved to spam they would be 10 times shittier. These threads aren't meant to generate in depth discussion anyway. Also if your post count doesn't matter like everyone seems to say it doesn't, then who gives a shit if these threads provide an easy way to boost it.

Not every thread should be a serious debate or a discussion of some sort to be considered post count worthy. In fact, if all the threads were in the spam section aside from game discussions or debates, no one would be near the thousands of posts in ages. Not to mention that doing so would considerately kill the already declining activity of the site. There's not much to discuss about FF games nowadays, and Square-Enix sure takes its time when launching new entries to the series. The main titles of the series such as VI, VII, VIII, and X have been overly discussed. We already argued about who is stronger between Sephiroth, Cloud, Squall, Zack and the rest way too many times (which is pointless because their victories and defeats are already scripted). We already debated which one is hotter between Tifa and well the rest as many times as I would not like to remember. Also let's not forget the never-dying discussion about the theories regarding Rinoa and her possible links with Ultimecia (which SE already said they are NOT the same character...cheers to those who still think the opposite after that...). So yeah, besides those kind of threads (like the What kind of music you are listening to?, What's your mood?, etc, etc, etc are quite entertaining to be honest, and are way more user friendly, specially to noobs.

Some threads just aren't meant for debate and are just used to tell your own side and talk about whatever it is that you are doing. The "what are you listening to?" thread and the others like that are among them. Sometimes other threads which aren't "list threads" do not hinge on debate at all either. Some topics, or even most topics, just require you to say what you want to say as the topic might just be about your experiences with a certain thing.

I don't think that post count should be removed for them, or that they should be moved into the lobby either. Sure a few people every now and then enter these threads and only write a sentence stating what it is they are listening to, but the mods usually catch them and tell them not to do it again. The vast majority of people write a short paragraph about what it is they are listening to. Anything that requires you to write at that length deserves post count, otherwise nobody would ever bother. I also believe that that length is better as well. If all people did was list what song they are listening to, without describing it, then that's just crap. I'd always thought that the true purpose of that thread was for other people to see the kind of music you listen to, and perhaps get interested and check it out themselves. Without a description then there is nothing to attract people to try out the song you are listening. That said, most people don't read what anyone else is listening to, and in regards to music most people just keep their own, but still occasionally I think people do. I know I've read some of the posts and some of them have caught my eye every now and then.

I think the forum rules for post count here are quite sensible. Many other forums, if not most of them, have lots of one-sentence posts flooding threads which affect their post count. Here people at least put a bit of length to their posts, even in those threads. There are no crazy "No U (btw +1)" posts here. At least not very often.

Well when the Site Rules were elaborated, I admit that most of us (at least I did) had in mind considering that not every reply was required to be more than one sentence (sometimes a sentence is more than enough rather than having a paragraph full of pointless arguing and non contributing content). The Site Rule pertaining to Post Length/Content is intended to be a guide to help the moderator determine whether or not he/she should ask a member to elaborate the post more.

There are threads in which a simple, concrete and very straight to the point sentence is way more adequate than a paragraph. Not only it makes browsing through the thread easier, but it also helps to keep it neat and organized. This however depends on the forum. For example, in the RP Forum, a post length of more than a paragraph is highly expected because in the RP forum you must be descriptive as well as including your character's thoughts and reactions.

Anyway, whether or not a post should be declared warn-deserving or not is entirely up to the discretion of the moderator in charge of that section. Some are more strict than others, since the styles and methods implemented vary from one person to another.

I think "list threads" like http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/m...you-currently-listening-to-33158-page166.html should be moved to the Spam Coliseum. Even with the mods enforcing that you have to flesh out your posts a bit, they still aren't discussion topics and basically just an easy way to rack up your post count.

Thanks for listening.
Agreed, but I think the what are you listening to thread could stay where it is, because you do get decent discussion from it every now and then. That said though, I wouldn't protest seeing it back in spam again.

And on a related note, why do threads like these get restarted as v3 every couple of months?

Yea, I actually try when I post in the "what are you listening to" thread. :mokken:

Not sure about anything else.

Because they get filled with spam eventually, or people put less and less effort in. When that happens make a new thread and people put the required amount of effort in.
