Natal or Arc for Final Fantasy XV? Don’t bet on it, according to FFXIII producer Yoshinori Kitase.

He reckons it’d be “too exhausting” to use them for future FF titles.
“These new type of controllers are very interesting, but we’re not sure that people would like to spend up to 100 hours playing a conventional Final Fantasy title with these type of controllers,” said Kitase, speaking to CVG.

He further added: “It could be too exhausting if you were always swinging a sword around for battles. So we will have to see what the future holds.”

In the same talk with the site, FFXIII director Motomu Toriyama said the reviews so far for the game are currently seen “from a western point of view”.

FFXIII’s out on March 9.

Oh fuck that, Im glad they don't want those, I', munch happier sat just batting away at my buttons than swinging away at stuff... maybe for a side mission or summat, but for the bulk o f the game, I think Id cry

Id endup with arms like He-Man....and alot of broken household objects when Im swinging a little too enthusiastically

And here I was about to complain about summat else I thought they couldnt be arsed to do...my bad :wacky:

I don't see how they'd end up using motion controls, you'd end up looking like an idiot if you started swinging the sword around in the middle of an RPG :ffs: Natal and Arc will be extremely, extremely overrated anyway so I don't want motion control :mokken:

I've pretty much said the same thing when I shot down the idea of having a Kingdom Hearts game on the Wii using motion controls. They even said it themselves that future FF games will have speedier battle systems. Therefore having to use the Natal or Arc for speedy battle systems will just be too impractical.

I'd rather use traditional controllers as Kelly said. Knowing me, I'll probably wreck a lot of things in my house as well if I'm to constantly flail my arms around. :wacky:

Ugh just leave the motion controls for wii, i really don't understand why Sony and Microsoft think they have at chance at doing well with implementing motion controls.

it's more of a novelty I think and something that long term, for any kind of game that's like, not light hearted or group orientated, just won't work, amd the novelty would soon wear off if you're prone to sit there for hours on end playing, ew imagine lewvel grinding with motion control <_<

Ummmm project Natal with Final Fantasy? LOL Ummmm NO! That would be pretty freaking Stupid tbh. I like Final Fantasy how it is and omg they aready said something about XV? OMg. FF is great without motion controls tbh and yes like previous people said I might break lots of things and might even RAGE from hard battles >_>

Motion controls doesn't seem like an good idea to me :hmmm: Final Fantasy just doesnt seem to suit the motion control and should stick with just controllers so i'm glad to hear that it's not likely tbh.
Plus 100 hours..... :gonk: and im not that lazy but seriously it just doesn't seem like a good idea so i would stick to what we have now.

Well that's good news. Albeit I didn't actually expect it to come about, but I'm glad all the same. I'm a lazy and I when I feel my butt grow when I play my games, I know I'm spending a decent amount of effort in them xD

amd the novelty would soon wear off if you're prone to sit there for hours on end playing, ew imagine lewvel grinding with motion control <_<

Exactly. In every Final Fantasy, you're prone to be under leveled at some point and then have to go back and level up. Imagine how annoying that would be, swinging around for a good 3 hours. :wacky:

I'm just going to reiterate when I say that it obviously isn't a good idea for a Final Fantasy, and I'm glad that they're staying away from it.

It's good news that they're not considering motion sensors now.

They only really work for games designed for them... Like party games on the Wii, and on the Playstation only for minor things like aiming a grenade, shaking fire off your back etc.

A few games on the Playstation where it is used all the time it works well for... Super Rub a Dub for example springs to mind, as does Lair (which is not a party game, but a pretty decent action game where you ride dragons), but they work because they aren't strenuous. In these they are mostly gentle movements with the controller acting either as a board (or bathtub like in Super Rub a Dub) to be tilted, or as the reins of a dragon (as in Lair), which only require occassional harsh movements or shaking to jump or shake something off. To use a controller like this as a sword is just asking for a smashed window and/or face.

For an RPG where there will be a lot of walking around, and alot of text and things to select it just isn't practical. They're being wise in noticing this.

Something like Natal would be just too damn annoying for me. FF is a game where you play at length, often hours at a time. Motion control would just be too much IMO.

I wouldn't mind some use of motion control such as performing a motion to power up moves (and depending on how you perform might affect the outcome etc) but it would have to be limited IMO. I like the good old fashioned controller.

Glad SE is smart. I'd never play the game if it was supposed to be played with motion controllers. >.<
