Metal Gear Solid Thread

for me mgs3 is the best becuse it is more to realty and i learned how to treat wounds from it.

Anyway Kojima is a bit disappointed about the final product, apparently it wasn't exactly what he envisioned it to be like in a interview with EDGE. He blames it on that the PS3s hardware wasn't as good as first believed.

It should be said that he does set high standards for himself so I wouldn't put in any doubt that this will be awesome anyway. Guess it's just a bigger incentive for MGS5 to be made.
 
I only played 3 so I voted for it, and 3 wasn't great at all it wasn't a very good game for me

well i have played metal gear solid 1,2 and 3 but i preferred 2 as i liked the storyline and the bosses you had to kill. asides when you fight fortune and nothing seems to work against her. i did enjoy MGS3 but i didn't find it as good as 2 although the part about treating your own wounds was fairly effective as it stopped you getting seen and plainly killing everyone with a machine gun.
 
I really enjoyed 2, the only problem was the last hour or so when the story went completely bat-shit insane. I've replayed that more than I did 3, the constant switching of the camo every 6 steps was really annoying and the bosses weren't as interesting as before beyond The Boss, Volgin and Ocelot.
 
i'm going to replay 1-3 before 4 comes out, just to get the whole story or most of it.

btw, on a sort of related question, If i play MGS1 on the ps3, how would i approach the Psycho Mantis fight?

all versions of the PS3 can play PS1 games, you can even create a virtual memory card too :), that's how i found out on my 40Gb.

To battle him with ease, you can do one of two things. Either plug your controller into port 2 or destroy the two statues either side of the room before the battle commences. As for the battle itself, it's very straightforward. Lie on the ground when he fires the projectiles around the room and shoot whenever you have the chance. While you are on the ground he can only hit you with two attacks - The telekinesis blast and the paintings.
 
Some pretty cool footage of the game in action, if you've been on a media blackout on the game you might not want to look at it.

Wow, Metal Gear Solid 2 doesn't get anywhere near as much credit as it deserves. IMO, that's the best one in the series, story-wise and in terms of being innovative. And the sword fight at the end was just priceless.
 
I agree that too many people hate on 2 a bit too much, but still 1 was a far better game for me personally. Although I still remember playing through MGS2 as one of the most awesome gaming experiences I've ever gone through, it's just that damn ending was convoluted as hell. I would say that MGS2 was better than 3 though in some ways though.
 
Metal Gear Solid

Searched out for a thread on this...didn't find anything, recently at least.
So are there any Metal Gear fans out there? Fourth and final one is coming out in less then a month. I have my fingers crossed for game of the year. Heck, even though I already had a PS3, I just bought the special edition "Metal" pack just cause it had Solid Snake on the cover.

Hope to see another Metal Gear Fan on this forum, cause along with FF this is my favorite series out there.
 
Well this is a FF forum so a MGS thread would be a rare sight :P
Anyway, I'm a great fan of MGS right form the first one :O.
I just need a ps3 then i'll buy mgs4 (when it's out)
Played and finished every single one of them :cool:

Metal Gear, one of my favorite games of all time. It is with my deepest regrets to live in the time of the last Metal Gear (FF might out live us all). I loved all the MG games especially one. I can't wait for 4(even though it is the last). I totally should buy a PS3.
