Lightning's Piercing

A friend and I were discussing this a week ago. She noticed that there's a tiny jewel in her belly but you have to really look hard in order to even notice it. We're not sure 100% if it's a belly button piercing or what, due to the placement of the jewel, but after searching around the net, some people have also noticed this but cannot seem to confirm whether it's a piercing or what. My gut says it is - what else could it be? xD

So, thoughts on this or if anyone can check during cutscenes, etc.
 
I've noticed this when I played it. It's also been confirmed by the guys on /v/. So yes, it is a piercing. Probably a part of that "let's appeal to westerners" crap.
 
Well, a lot of the time Japanese schemes to appeal to Westerners go belly-up.

I never actually noticed this, unsurprisingly...its probably yet another one of those details that my low definition TV can't stomach anyway. Plus I never stopped to look at Lightning's midriff. XD
 
Huh what? Lightning has a piercing? O_O You can only see a bit of her body but ill check o_O. Oh yes I do see something shiny on her skin. Hmmm kinda weird that she has one to be honest. Meh she does have one. I guess its all the badass in her xD. Still she remains my favorite hehe. Lemme see if I can zoom in on her and see it
 
I actualyl never saw anything that looks like a piercing or anything of that sort on Lightning. Then again, Im not really bothered to look at her stomach area niether xD i'm pretty sure that its a piercing if you see it xD
 
Ahh yeah I remember, I noticed it a while ago and was like "huh...didn't notice that before". Twas very subtle, dunno where the idea for it came from mind. Meh, guess it's just another part of costume that's just there for the sake of being there. Haven't given it much thought since.
 
That's interesting. I can't say that I've seen any piercing or jewel in her belly before. You can't get a good view of the belly as her outfit mainly covers it. Plus I've never really paid attention to her belly - mostly at her face. Nomura is the game's character designer. Maybe this is some kind of little detail he wanted to put in for fun? Why exactly it is there I have no clue either.

^ That's the pic where I noticed the piercing myself. I couldn't see it in the gameplay...Then again, I'm not playing FFXIII on a HD-TV xD

Whatever. It's an accessory that's a little more risque than the generic pierced ears we've seen in the past, but I doubt there's anything more special to that.
 
I just found out about this today, but its not that visible,only if you get close.It doesnt really mean anything,its not like she does drugs or anything lol,as the thread creator said,not sure if its actually a piercing.
 
I think it states in episode Zero(prequel to FF XIII) how she got her piercing. Im not really sure if it does though. Lightning certainely does not look like she is on drugs are anything. But maybe in her younger times she was the type who thought she was better than anyone. Meh its noi big deal really. Its just a little strange >_> I wonder how many people she punched in the face for touching her or Serah lol
 
I saw it in a picture a while ago and I thought it looked awesome!

Belly button piercings are so pretty. <3

I was actually talking to Steve tonight about mine and how I was so surprised that I even went through with it at the time three years ago. XD

But yes it definitely looks like a piercing to me. Ball at the top and jewel in the belly button is a definite piercing.

...does it make me shallow that this news (Lightning having a belly button peircing) pleases me greatly? ^^
 
Dont see how drugs were somehow connected to having a belly button piercing. Some people are just werid like that ...

Anyhoo, Ive never actually noticed before. You cant see it on the gamecover as shes covered up her tummy. But wow, awesome XD Its nice to see other body piercings other then earrings on a Final Fantasy character.

I actually noticed her necklace tbh, a tiny little block lightning bolt with a couple of coloured bits on the top half which I thought was quite a clever little addition.
