KH Ruined FF characters

I believe that the most ruined character was Setzer! (SP?) He went from being an awesome bad ass evil dude killer to a bloke who tries to bribe a little kid into losing!
 
I don't know about KH ruining the Final Fantasy characters, but they certainly are very out of character.

The only specific thing I can think of and that I don't really like is that Leon just smiles WAY too much compared to his emo counter part Squall >_<

Also they made him look more manly where as I liked my pretty boy Squall, but whatever -_-
 
I'd say Setzer took the hardest fall...they raped him until he didn't even resemble the original character in almost any way.

lets make this easy EVERY FF CHARACTER in the game except the moogles, who have been given awesome skills

I must agree that I felt sorry for Setzer.. Being transformed from a daring, thrill-seeking, airship pilot with a deep love of gambling.. into a loser who spends his days wacking kids with foam battons...

Most cameos were off really, but I wouldn't say it ruined those characters for me. I still like the characters in their respective games.

The way I have survived Kingdom Hearts... I don't see them as the same characters really, just parallel universe counterparts of themselves if anything.
 
Kingdom Hearts hardly ruined the FF characters. Some of the Final Fantasy characters seemed kinda lame in Kingdom Hearts such as Seifer, Fujin and Raijin. But that doesn't mean they were ruined, Kingdom Hearts is completely unrelated to the Final Fantasy series so what happens to the Final Fantasy characters in Kingdom Hearts has absolutely no impact on the original characters.

Think of the characters as actors starring in a different movie, you wouldn't say "Rambo" ruined "Rocky" now would you. So if the Characters in Kingdom Hearts are bothering you so much just play the original game that they're from to see them in true character.
 
I gotta disagree with this topic.

FF characters were not meant to be the main characters or have a HUGE role in these games. They were meant to show up as a guest character, do what they are known for, and slowly fade off so that the main characters can assume once again their protagonist roles in the game.

You see this with Auron who brings his brute strength with a sword into the picture, but also lends his wisdom to the much younger crowd in the main party.

Also, Vivi freakin' has a voice!! How awesome is that?!?
 
I really dislike these kind of statements. Whenever I hear about how something completely non-canon ruined something canon, it just bugs me. I can't remember the topic but I remember having a conversation on these boards a long long time ago with someone who believed that a fanfic they read ruined a particular FF character for them. I've also read on these boards when people talk about how sequels like Final Fantasy X-2 ruined FFX for them. I guess I just don't see how it's possible. The game is a stand alone experience. It should not matter if any outside sources referencing the original material are good or bad. They should have no influence on the original game. To me, it just seems ridiculous to think of it otherwise.

Augh, they killed ViVi. They made him seem really stupid, and ruined the his cuteness factor.

I was fairly disappointed they didn't have him trip. Not even once. D;

They also turned Setzer into a cheater with no morals. Argh.

i know Vivi was a STRONG SHY quiet lil boy who trips alot ( which i thought was soooo cute)
they made him seem like a spoiled boy who was an idiot and A follower
when in ff9 he followed his own heart
whhich ff is setzer from
 
They so ruined Sephiroth my bro is so mad at that because Sephiroth is his fav and they made him act like stupid making cloud worry about they darkness inside his heart.My bro was yelling at the TV saying SEPHIROTH WHAT THE HELLS WORONG WITH YOU ARE YOU BEING MENTAL YOUR CLOTHES SUCK AND ALL YOU SAY IS ABOUT HIS DARKNES WHAT ABOUT MOTHER OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!blah blah blah.

Exactly my bro was so mad that when he fought him this made me laugh he died and he said the dorky clothes retard killed me how coul i die to Sephiroth's twin because what ever they say the real Sephiroth is badass it made me laugh so hard.
 
I wouldn't say the KH renditions ruined the FF characters. I can still play the respective FF games without being distracted by their KH persona. However... it is a little distracting when I'm playing KH because I can't helo but think things like "Yuffie? That's not Yuffie. That's like... the diet coke version of Yuffie."

Jesus, they made Vivi CREEPY AS ALL HELL in KH2. Seriously, going into battle with him I felt really uncomfortable. That "heh heh heh" childish laughter really got to me o_O

And... they made Seifer to be a to a total wigger. No joke. FF8 Seifer was an arrogant little prick but come on... the guy had some standards.

...Speaking of standards... what was up with Setzer being a total loser having to cheat his way into winning fights against children? What the heck.

Suffice to say... I think the Twilight Town characters got it the worst.
 
Kingdom hearts is ok but I also found the ff characters really different in KH. I like FF the way it is. The characters are purely awesome and they should not take a apart in kingdom hearts.

though the only character i liked that they did change was SQUALL aka LEON
 
I can say I'm one of the aforementioned players that went out for Final Fantasy games after playing Kingdom Hearts, so it'll be a bit before I see a difference.
 
I've read the first page of this thread and I'm pretty confused. Why the hell is everyone dissing Cloud's cape? I think it looks cool. And the reason it's there is because they couldn't put Vincent in KH (him using a gun and all and it's a kid's game), so they wanted to pay tribute to him somehow. I think it's cool that they paid homage to a character they couldn't fit in. And as for his deal with Hades, (that some people think is out of character apparently) I don't see how it is. I mean, before FFVII he's a MERCENARY! Merecaries do dangerous jobs for money (or some other type of reward - your memories back for instance). It makes perfect sense.
