KH Ruined FF characters

Well they can't exactly have him praying to "Mother" in KH can they? There IS no Jenova in KH. And don't tell me they should have put Jenova in, because that is plain silly. How in the world would Jenova fit in to Kingdom Hearts?

Yes Walt Disney kinda nutered the FF characters, yet i find it ok.. kinda cute but it stops there. They look more manga ish and stuff and i like there new attires (clouds, Squalls ect..)

But one thing i HATE its Squalls new name.... i REFUSE to refer to him as *grunts* Leon...theres just one Leon I know and he's from Resident Evil 4.

What he saves the world from a Sorceress then goes all emo because some black bugs appear and changes his name!?(Shadow's are cute just saying) Where Seifer to laugh at his ass when u need him. Maybe that will get him to spin around and be the badass sleeping Lion we know.

Just for the record, when i saw Seph. for the first time... I thought i was going to see BAhamut ( the crest thingy that shoots in the air reminded me so much of Bahamut from FFX) XD and yet i still whent.. EEEP.. im going to die im going to die... RUN!!! RUN AWAY!!!
 
I disagree I don't think kingdom hearts ruined FF characters at all. Sure the made them all cute and what not but it's kingdom hearts. This game has disney characters in it and it for a young audience. You can't have the complex characters and story plots of final fantasy games in this game. I think they did the best they could. They tried to keep the core of the characters and make them cutesy too. You can't have everything work out well and they did what they could

I always expected Cid to sound like a hick, but oh jeez...did they have to make him sound like THAT?! And what was with his outfit?

As for Vivi...Jesus Christ...he turned into a brat. Plus his hat can now eat people. And to top it all off, he's part of Seifer's little street gang now. Speaking of Seifer...

Wigger much? He was still an arrogant douchebag, what with his chicken wuss comments and all, but still. His lines were cringe worthy, too.

I don't know what to say about Sephiroth, Auron, Aeris, Yuffie, and Squall. Maybe it was the voice acting, but something still didn't seem right.

Oh, and Cloud is quite possibly the biggest idiot in the entire game. Sure, just trust the guy with the flaming blue hair, why don't you? Genius.

It's the same voice actor used in both Dirge of Cerberus and Advent Children, so narrowing this complaint down to Kingdom Hearts sounds unnecessarily biased, to me.

The bolded characters were also voiced by their original actors and, so, I'll direct you to my first line.

I think he worked with Hades to show his desperation to find the person for whom he was looking. Besides, Hades is known for always keeping his bargains - it's the technicalities of them where he uses them to his own advantages.
 
I'd have to remind you that Sora destroyed multiple skyscrapers with a single swing of his blade, deflected hundreds of lasers coming at him from all directions, and sent a 30-foot dragon flying into the air simply by jabbing it in the stomach. There's absolutely no shame in losing to Sora.

Disney changed the characters around a little, I think the only reason they were included was to let the FF fans go "oh, hey, I know that character," so really they did it for our benefit. I loved the Gullwings cameo, even though they actually struck me as rather mean for a bit. Oh well. I also liked Tidus and Wakka on Destiny. ;D
Sephiroth scared the crap out of me. Nevermind if his character was tweaked a bit (was it?).
People might as well be complaining about the Disney characters being different. It's just to blend the two companies together :-)
 
Well i see this dilemma in two ways, combining FF characters with Disney makes non-fans want to actually play final fantasy games and brings in good advertisment for SE. On the other hand watching Sephiroth in the same scene with Mickey makes me want to throw up in my mouth :) The major change that i saw in characters was the lack of bad-ass-ness in some of the characters especially when they were turned into kids... Also for Cid i was quite pissed that his swearing and smoking had been taken out but i guess you have to since it's Disney :/ And let us not forget how Cloud had to be saved by Hercules...i was quite dissapointed :(

I don't understand that aswell. Like, when did Cloud go shopping for clothes? The world is falling apart, and Sephiroth is lurking around doing bad stuff, and Cloud suddenly chooses to go to H&M and Walmart to buy clothes and bandages for his sword?? o_O
The final fantasy character's appearance in Kingdom of Hearts ruins the FF character's history. Didn't Cloud get so extremely depressed after the death of Aerith? And the clothes that he wears in KoH II, Aerith wasn't alive when he got those! :/
So yeah, that the FF chars are in KoH just ruins them :/
 
I can understand this. I mean I was kinda annoyed when Sora kick the crap outta Leon. And when Cloud had to be carried by Hercules? I lost it. They made Tifa into a bigger stalker than she actually was and... well, no Aeris was always kinda on the slow side. (Jk) I really hated that they made the ff characters so weak...
 
I actually thought they were portrayed quite well. Except for Vivi and Tifa. They made Vivi into some loser, enigma, then back again loser. He had so much more potential. And as Sorrelstar said, they made Tifa into a big stalker. I know she wants to find cloud, but she appears EVERYWHERE that he was at some point in the game. Other than those two, I thought that the FF characters were brought pretty well.
 
I admit there were a few FF characters that made me face-palm for either their attitude or design. After playing KH2, while I really do like Nomura's design despite all the bashing people give him, why he decided to make Seifer a tween Eminem wannabe, I'll never know >_>

For Leon, he just smiles a whole lot in KH2. I did like him in KH1, though.

And making Setzer, an awesome card wielding gambler from FFVI, a somewhat weakling that fights with a foam bat? Yeah, that didn't really make me chipper in the least.

But you know what? After I rationalize all of this, I remember one thing-these are not the original FF characters from their respective games.

Although I've played KH:CoM for a few hours only, I really went all "WTH" at Squall *ehem* Leon's outfit. Lol. Some of the character's aren't bad, though personality-wise, I don't really know how they are.

Aerith looks alright, though, but Tidus... Whyyyyy...?
 
I don't think KH ruined the FF characters, rather made some changes that just didn't fit with their personalities. I mean this is like an alternate universe so to speak. I will agree that I HATE what they did with Seifer, Fujin and Rajin as well as Setzer in KH2, and WHY they made Tidus and Wakka into little kinds in KH I'll never know.

Also the whole faeries thing with Yuna, Rikku and Paine kinda bothered me. I mean WHY did they turn them into faeries? What was the purpose of that? Aerith is fine, they didn't really change her much, but Squall? What's with the long hair and the name 'Leon'...? I seriously cannot believe what they did to our beloved Squall. Cloud was fine, still stoic and depressed as usual. It was an interesting take, but there were just those select few that made me wonder wtf they were doing...
 
I loved seeing a different side of the FF characters. I don't understand why people would think that it ruine them.

I mean, sure it made changes, but they couldn't leave them exactly the same, it wouldn't have made sense. I don't care for KH extremely because it's realtime, but the FF characters are the only reason that I gave it a chance.

That and I somehow had the foolish idea that Kingdom Hearts would be like a galaxy with all the FF worlds, and all the FF characters would interact with each other in some amazing story. Of course, I couldn't have been more wrong.
 
I really agree with you here. I tried playing KH and I absolutely loathe it. The thought of Disney and Square Enix coming together ruined the whole concept of FF. Disney in their movies and whatever else they did before (not now) had its own beauty and significance. The same goes for FF, but the two just don't seem to clash. I think Kingdom Hearts just took the characters we adored so much into...this. People who get followed by Donald Duck and Goofy etc. I found the concept annoying when I played it.
 
I dont really care for KH. But i do think its where alot of the annoying fanboyism started. I agree KH ruined Tidus and the fact that it has hardly any characters from before FF7 is very upseting, especially since Terra isn't in it *sniffle*
 
I don't think they were ruined. I always assumed that they made the changes to the characters because the game is rated for ages 10+. So they had to do at least a bit of modifying to the characters. It never really bothered me.

Yuna, Rikku and Paine were supposedly made faeries so that they wouldn't take up too much space on the screen, at least I remember reading that that was why. I thought that reason was legitimate, I can see them taking up significant space and it would just look bad. At first I hated the fact that they changed them, but I see the reasoning behind it and it doesn't bother me as much.

As for Tidus, Wakka and Selphie, they were probably redesigned as kids because they live on Destiny Island with Sora, Riku and Kairi. Sora was supposed to be age 14 but he doesn't look like it, he looks about 11. As do Tidus, Wakka and Selphie. I mean, wouldn't it be weird to see Wakka as his normal age on Destiny Island, and friends with Sora? Sure, they could have put these characters elsewhere, but I thought it was well thought out.

Cloud and Squall, there weren't that many changes. I was fine with that too. Squall working with Yuffie and being annoyed by her calling him by his real name, that seemed normal. I don't really have anything to mention about Cloud because he was still himself. Aerith didn't undergo many changes either. I loved her design, and she was still pretty much the same Aerith we know.

Apparently, they were going to use Rikku instead of Yuffie at first. That might have been better because they wouldn't have confused an FF player playing this game by using YRP as faeries. I guess using them later on in KH2 gave them the option to use Yuna and Paine, but I would've loved to see Rikku interacting with Squall. Yuffie just all around annoys me, so I wasn't pleased with her being in KH.

While the did ruin most on the FF character, you gotta remember Square did make the whole game themselves. Disney Interactive was in on this too. Heck, I'm not even sure if the person who made KH worked on any of the FF games. It sure didn't seem like it to me.

I'm pretty sure they just threw in the FF characters to make the story like more dramatic, or just because they though more people would wanna buy the game if they threw in popular FF characters.

Cloud was a complete dick thoughout all of the KH games he was in. Normally he isn't even that bad, but gawd. Aerith was also OoC, Squall (leon, they even changed his name?!) was a complete fag. They didn't get him down right either. I don't even wanna go on about the rest... really.
 
ruined? the FF chars were just cameos. they weren't important to the story - replace them with original chars and voila, exactly the same result, but without the FF fans who bought the game for the cameos.
