You know when a character does something so annoying or stupid in a game that it actually pisses you off in real life? What specific things have an FF character that have pissed you off?

In FFVIII, the one thing that I can not get over, is during the part when Irving and Squall are going to snipe Edea, Quistis leaves her post to go apologize to Rinoa! This woman is supposed to be in the military and a teacher! And why couldn't she wait until after their mission to go apologize? Not only that, she gets her, Zell, and Selphie locked in a room. This whole thing was just stupid. No wonder she was fired from being a teacher!

Well, from what I've played of VIII so far, I'd say Rinoa getting caught in the first place around that time was irritating >_> I mean really, did she have to be so childish? It felt like that whole "damsel in distress" thing where she completely ignored the fact that if she got caught, people might end up risking their own lives trying to save her :mokken: It was really thoughtless of her IMO.

Also, the fact that Tidus waited so long to tell everyone about his fate near the end of X. I've bitched about this recently in another thread so I won't go into details, but it always irritates me when characters in any story don't share vital information with each other, in a lot of cases they could prevent a lot of problems that way. And while I don't know whether it would have changed anything in this case, it's still aggravating to see it happen >_>

I think there was something in VII too, but it escapes me at the present :hmmm:

It always managed to strike me as funny how the Cid character "tried" to kill himself in IV. He was a crazy character though, I guess it was within his personality to act wild.

Another incident in IV was when Tellah started beating up Edward. I guess he was confused and upset, but it was really funny.

Admittedly X is full of a lot of questionable choices. I like the game, but one choice is the number of people you have to go up against. I might understand having to go up against Seymour, but the whole "we must go up against Yunalesca" thing was a little questionable... I felt like it was unbelievable that the characters didn't really try to talk things through instead of fighting.

There is a battle animation in X-2 which was kind of funny... maybe it's rude for me to comment on it, but it's there. So when Rikku is a Black Mage and wins a battle, she most of the time hangs her butt in the air in kind of a ditzy fashion.

In XIII, it annoys me a little how Fang has to check everyone's brands.

But she was going to kill them...

IX - Steiner "I won't turn around and fall for that trick"

VII - Cloud pretending to be Zack. Stop trying to justify your failures in life. I do not sympathise with you because you believe your own lie!

VIII - Seifer taking Rinoa to Adel. You're not getting anything out of this. You're being a child. Get a girlfriend ffs :gonk:

Also the fact that no one was considerate to tell Tidus what was going to happen to Yuna once they reached Zanarkand because, "it's just too sad" ::sob::. When it was really, "We need a sad plot twist LOLZ" I already ranted about this in its own thread, but still, what a bunch of douche bags!

Sephiroth killed Aeris.

Aaaaaaaaaaanyway, when Cloud tries to ditch Aeris in the middle of the night at the biggining of FF7. Aeris' mom said she didn't want Aeris to be "hurt" because she'd have a boyfriend from SOLDIER, but she had one from SOLDIER before, she even told Cloud, and it was working out fine. Cloud wasn't even in SOLDIER anymore! I just don't get it.

Rydia theres an "e" in douche.

Rinoa being caught? that took a bit of convincing when you fight Seifer on Lunatic Pandora and she is not in your party he just grabs her and runs of to Adel if remember and if she is in your party he takes her hostage.........a little bit more believable but at that stage it like the 3rd or 4th time she was kidnapped or removed from the party.

Do you think the contrast between Quistis being an emotional woman was not apparent enough to make her abandonment of her post unquestionable, you would think logically Quistis would have enough discipline to stay put in stead of giving into her despair?

Well things that have pissed me off...:hmmm:....Oh yes, when Tidus goes to the Undersea ruins with Rikku and just pounds on the interface of the various machines...........dude your from a technologically advanced city and your hitting/punching push button interfaces? seems kinda odd:srsly:

And thats it really I tend not to be swayed by the choices characters make, I just dont like them completely.........as in Vaan=Douchebag

Wakka and his Priority issues.

high pitched screams

the strong majority of FFXIII's characters just simply existing

Squall needing a lecture to drop his balls after the Ragnarok event

Seifer is just confusing.

A lot of things in FFX-2 irritate me endlessly. Rikku being a big culprit for this. When the heck did she get so annoying after FFX? It's like her mental age just halved in two years. Did I have to put up with her screams of "Snakes, SNAKES, SNAAAAAAKES!!!!" in battle as well as her various victory screams after a battle has ended? Yuna stands around and copies her cousin, with utterances such as "poopey". I can probably understand why people tend to copy each other, but hearing Yuna do it as well just made me shake my head at the game's dialogue.

Also in FFX-2, there's Leblanc. I've mentioned this before in another thread, and I'll mention it again. She steals a Garment Grid (why the heck would you steal something like a Garment Grid when there are so many others?) and suddenly takes on a striking image of Yuna (which is entirely unexplained and it's just there to kickstart the utterly odd concert opening for the game) and later gives the stolen Garment Grid back to Yuna before the fight. That has to be one of the most stupid things I have ever seen. I couldn't help but not take Leblanc seriously as a sphere hunter/thief/pest whatever she is supposed to be in the game.

FFXII to a lesser extent. Vaan having spent half of the game useless suddenly in the Garif village makes a soliloquy-kind of thing and announces in a narrative what he hopes to achieve in this journey with Ashe and others. Then later he becomes useless again. So, Vaan himself just annoys me to no end. Then there's Vanille in FFXIII. Does she have to make those exaggerated, orgasmic exclamations of delight over the smallest things? And when Hope watches
his mother die
, Vanille acts like nothing much has happened. Let's stay cheery shall we, even though there is a
massacre going on as instructed by the Sanctum
?

FFVII: The Turks in your last encounter letting you decide whether to fight them or not was just stupid to me. Either let the party pass or fight them. It just seemed like a total anticlimax to me.

FFVIII: I love Rinoa. Really I do. But having to save her every half an hour was just infuriating after a while. I half expected:

Quistis: Rinoa's out in space.
Squall: ...
Zell: Again?!
Quistis: Yep.

FFX: Wakka as a whole after a while. I'm aware he became a father figure/big brother to Yuna but there are times I wanna go "...Just shut up."

FFXII: Another Vaan sililoquy. The one in the Pharos, when he talks about his brother and how angry he is, and how he can't bring him back. But nobody really cares. :lew: The fact that no one did... it just shows how useless Vaan was.

FFXIII: Snow seemed to exist as a romantic interest to Serah. All his motives and character traits were connected to Serah. He couldn't exist on his own. Yet he had to shout it out loud and clear. "Serah! Hero! SAVE THE DAY!" Snow was my least favourite character in that game.

VIII is FULL of this. People have already mentioned a few things from VIII, but my biggest one is during the big fight between Balamb and Galbadia Gardens, when Rinoa is dangling off the Garden and your party is all SQUALL, YOU HAVE TO RESCUE HER. Uhhhhh.... he was kind of commanding an army? Dude was kind of busy, couldn't someone else have done it? Like one of you who was standing RIGHT THERE when it happened? But no, had to be Squall. Then Rinoa and Squall proceed to discuss Squall's jewelry in the middle of the battlefield.... Guh. I'm an VIII apologist generally, but some parts of it are just TOO DUMB.

This is a Metal Gear Solid joke. :) But the rest....

This is a Metal Gear Solid joke. :) But the rest....

If it was, then it was terribly done and used in a terrible occasion. Using it on the battlefield when weird machine gun snakes show up throws it completely out of the context of the joke. It probably would have worked much better if when YRP infiltrate Leblanc's place they give each other pseudonyms where Rikku calls herself "Snake" and there is some excuse for another character to yell out her name three times.

What made me mad was that throughout the entire game of FFIV (NDS version), Rosa and Cecil NEVER kiss. They're like, meant for each other, Cecil went through big towers and scorching deserts to rescue her several times, yet they can't go through the trouble of kissing. The only affection I've seen them publicly do is hug. That's just off to me.

Plus me and my mom got in quite a heated argument over Lulu's attire during a battle in FFX. She kept saying that she changed her clothes, and I keep telling her that clothes can't be changed - only accessories and weapons. We kept trying to prove each other wrong to the point of her cussing me out. Over a dress. FF games can really stir emotions, no?

Tidus being warned not to tell anyone where he's from. He wakes up on a beach and one of the first things he does when he opens his gob is tell them where he's from.

Zidane in general.

I really can't find much that characters in FF games do that piss me off, but the one thing that sticks to mind is the dialogue that FFX characters would say in-battle. I mean as much as I love FFX, I swear when battles came around I would have to mute my TV so I didn't have to hear Tidus yell out "I'm here to make you pay!" 600 times.

Other than that, I can't recall any other problems I've had with characters. Maybe a bossy female Ashe would get on my nerves in FFXII, but other than that, just repetitive dialogue in-battles.

"Ya know?"
*kills Raijin*

Pretty much every single things Rinoa does in the entire game pisses me off. I just really don't like her. And Squall loses a few respect points as well for becoming a pansy out of nowhere at the completely wrong moment, when she gets taken away to the Sorceress Memorial.
And what's already been mentioned about Quistis, too.

Tifa not saying anything to the party when Cloud gives his false account of what happened in Nibelheim! Naturally this only really got to me on my second playthrough. I just figured a whole lot of drama could have been at least partially avoided if she'd opened her stupid mouth.

Eiko just being a little brat. I hate big-mouths. Especially puny ones.

Oh, and Seymour not dying. Seriously. Bastard.
