Hey I'm new here. Actually I new to the entire final fantasy series. I only succedded in playing through one final fantasy which was recent and that was FF XIII. Although I've encountered other FF games such as FF IV, V,VI and VII I never had the opportunity to really dive into them, let alone play one for more than an hour. However, I've been playing Jrpgs for a really long time.

I've played some snes jrps, xbox 360 jrpgs, ps3 jrpgs and some gamecube ones but never any psx or ps2 ones and so forth. I guess what really got me into playing jrpgs was pokemon because after reflecting on what game really got me into gaming I would say it was my older brother's pokemon blue for the gameboy ha ha. My favorite jrpg would have to be Baten Kaitos for the gamecube. I know its not the best game but something about that game and the period of my life I was playing that game really got to me.

I do like some like some western rpgs like Mass effect and The Elder scrolls series but thats really about it. I don't like when I see western video game websites bashing jrpgs just because they're too linear and they think jrpgs should be the same as wrpgs. I say screw that and screw them. Overall, rpgs are my favourite types of games and it they didn't exist I wouldn't be playing video games.

As for FF... Like I said I've played one FF game, FF XIII. I say it was pretty great and since I had no high expectations for it, it was a pretty good jrpg. However I refused to buy it first thing unless it got a average rating of 9 or above (ha ha i know lame :P) so maybe there was some expectations going on there. That's a pretty good example of FF games having huge expectations since I never played through one and for some reason I had expectations for it. Not bad though one of those good games I have played on a next generation console. So I recently finished it and I decided to buy a ps2 to play some jrpgs i missed out on. That didnt turn out well because I bought a borken one off this jerk who wont reply to me to get my money back. So my torubles all led to these fourms when I searched some FF related stuff. So thats my story. Honestly Im probably gonna play FF VI or V or IV soon and I'll probably ask you guys for some recommendations. Till we meet again.

Nice meaty intro there MBV, very astute.

Welcome to FFF, Lesson learnt son only by brand new game consoles, there are dodgy people in the world who will rip you of, like every one in the northern Hemisphere:lew:

Have you played Dragon Age yet? thats a decent Western RPG.

Greetings.

Welcome to the forums :dave:

Long intro that I totally didn't read all of.

Whoa...i read your into...from start to finish...nice! I was abit confused when you said "jrpg" but after you made the comparison i instantly knew what you meant. (i have never heard that abbreviation lol.)

I suggest V and VI then go for VII...maybe VIII but definatey IX and up.

Very nice to meet you by the way, Nice to see someone who know's what a good game is and where they come from (Western RPG's suck in comparison, i know.)

Anyways, if ya wanna chat or something of a sort hit me a PM or look for me in the CB! ^^

Hello and welcome :sup:

It will be fun exploring through some of the older FF titles. Personal preference of mine from the main series are FF VI-XII with exception of IX, X-2, XI, I never got around to playing IX and XI was an online game. XIII I haven't gotten to either.

I remember Pokemon Blue very well, as I still have mine from back then. I once spent 8 hours straight playing it while traveling in the car on vacation. It wasn't the RPG game that got me hooked to RPGs, that was Super Mario RPG Legend Of The Seven Stars done by Square oddly enough.

Yeah I couldn't let go of pokemon he he. Once my pokemon evolved that was it for me Haha. I would play when my mom dropped me off at some gym daycare and I would just sit there and play it the whole time. *sigh* I wish I got hooked my Super Mario RPG but I didnt play that till it got released on Wii ware. I told myself if I played this game when I had a snes back in the 90s, wow this would be my favourite game of all time. It was great.

Greetings.

Yeah I played Dragon age and I forgot to mention that it was another wrpg that I enjoyed too ha ha. I cant wait for Dragon age 2 :lew:

Welcome, sir. And might I say, your avatar is quite nice. I especially liked how the blinking light cause me to have a small, yet very severe seizure.

He he, I know what you mean. Meh, I sort of just googled a FF avatar and picked one that I liked. In this case it was a FFV XIII avatar because I quite excited about the game and I hate not having an avatar on a forum. Anyways I'll probably change it soon ha ha.

Thanks for the greetings everyone and thanks for the interest!

You're one of the few people with such a long intro post. :lew:

I hope you enjoy your stay around here. ^^

Linear RPGs are epic, and don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise :mokken:

Also, I would recommend FFIV and FFVI as the best in the series :monocle: And the SNES versions if you can find them. Welcome!
