You know those games that you know are terrible, either poor gameplay or story line or whatever. Yet you can't help but like/love it? What are your little guilty pleasures. And these games aren't underrated, they are actually really bad. XD

Harry Potter 5 for the Wii. Horrible game based off the movie. The story is terrible and has many unneeded extra "missions". But I like using my wii remote as a wand in lifting up or blasting objects. I barely every follow the story, I just walk around, lift up a bench, and then throw it at someone XD

Cooking Mama Cook off. It's a silly game meant for little girls, but I enjoy it. I enjoy cooking though so maybe that's why I enjoy it. Also, I have searched for some of the recipes of the meals from the game and made them. Most are quite good :)

Fable II. I love this game. Yeah it's easy and almost impossible to die and so many other games have done this type of game better, but I love the world. And for some reason I find the gameplay addictive. I also get a dog which is a plus.

Harvest Moon DS. Many HM fans complain about this game, but I found it quite addictive. sure in the girl version, most of the guys are pretty unappealing. I find it a huge improvement over the newer DS game. It could use more social events but I didn't mind it too much.

Final Fantasy XIII. Yeah, if it didn't have Final Fantasy in the title, I would have stopped this game abou a quarter of the way through. The battle system is horrible and the story is bland. But I really like some of the characters which is the only reason I even finished this game. I don't really like this game, but I don't hate it either. I'll probably never play it again.

Viva Pinata!
Ugh it was the most stressful game, stupid little pinata animals over populating, evil red pinatas trying to kill yours, no real goal to the game, pretty much made for kids and yet I still loved it...well for a while anyway.

VIB Ribbon
I personally love this game, but I know its bad, its got 6 levels that take you about 2 minutes each to complete... so its a 12 minute game, about a rabbit that runs along a tightrope and through shapes...it had awesome music though, and was addictive!!

and I guess there is FFXIII but I couldn't finish that game.

FF Tactics Advance = the story of this game sucked,as well everything else compared to the original, but couldn't help,i really like it,just love that job system, and why not Ivalice on it as well?(that gave birth to almost everything on FFXII)

Pokémon(any of them)=always the same mediocre story, the same mediocre battle system(almost)),you just always have to beat some gyms, and keep trading the pokemons with other versions/people.Yet,it's addicting D:

Dragon Quest Monsters series = critics are similar to pokémon

Most Kirby games= let's admit,Kirby is kinda childish and too gay D:
But the games are good, even though being a gay childish version of Megaman, sometimes.

FF8=Lame characters(not all of them),story,battle system and development system(Junction).
I kinda like it anyway, most because of good graphics,OST,cool GFs animation and funny and easy gameplay(pressing R to trigger Gunblade's power, etc),with good animations in general,as well (Magic's effects, renzokuken in some bosses, like Giant Cactuar and Ultima Weapon)

Wild Arms 4 - Story sucked,as well as characters, even the interface(trembling menus, the dialogues were told like a manga/comic and had almost no cut-scene),but the gameplay was actually pretty good, although some stuff just never workd(stupid camera, far from the character,Jude's double jumps are fail, the battle system, although good,is broken as hell, because of one Character that can attack more than 5 tuns consecutive, you could never achieve everything on USA version too, because of a glitch on the bestiary)

Legend Of Dragoon - Every review I read on this game wasn't so good, but it definetily was worth it! Sure it got annoying sometimes when you do the same Addition, hearing their voices everytime you do it. The story wasn't half bad, and the music was very good! To be honest, the only reason I got this game was because I had loads of fun playing a game called Legend Of Mana, thinking they were the same series :)

Legend Of Mana - Definetily one of Yoko Shimomura's best games she composed! I tried the other Mana games, but none compared to this one. The story is not so good, but just leveling up, beating the game, and Nightmare Mode was very fun!!

I agree with pokémon, the games are all pretty similar and repetitive, but incredibly addictive.

The Bouncer was slated in reviews, but when me and my friend rented it I quite enjoyed it! Reminded me of Streets of Rage but 3D.

Viva Pinata wasn't a bad game squid :gasp2:

Anyway I'd say any wrestling game cause one time I got drunk at a house party and we all played hell in a cell good times :lew: respect for that game.

Ummm... I don't think Tekken was even that good but I'd sometimes go for ages on that. Same for most party games I guess :hmmm:

Well, if I like a game, I don't consider it to be "bad"...but, setting that aside...

Ninety-Nine Nights (both of them) - People bash this to hell, but it's awesome. Mindless, uninterrupted carnage. It doesn't pretend to have a story, it just has awesome special moves, waves upon waves of enemies, and it lets you cut loose. Kill, kill, and kill some more. It's great fun!

Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure - This is painfully cute, even for me. An RPG musical, in freakin' Japanese, easy as hell. But I LOVE it! It has that NIS charm, a few funny jokes and, hearing the English lyrics to the songs, I'm almost glad they're in Japanese. xD

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red/Blue Rescue Team - People in general see these games as inferior to the main series but, honestly, I think they're much better. Playing as the Pokemon is much more enjoyable, and there was something strangely satisfying in seeing them in their friend areas, walking around. Plus they actually offer a challenge, in the form of 99 floor dungeons where your level is reset to 1 and you can't take any items with you. The second set of games ruined it a bit by taking out the friend areas, though.

Gauntlet: Dark Legacy - An old favourite from the Gamecube era, this was so, SO much fun in multiplayer. Plus the voice that told you about your character's status when it was anything other than fine was actually quite an awesome feature. Blue Wizard is about to die! Yellow Jester needs food badly! Etc, etc.

Tekken 1 - This game was awful compared to most of the other beat-em-up type games that where out at the time.
But the characters stories and the music made the game way more addicting than I thought it would of done for such a crap graphiced game xD

All in all you've gotta hate it to love it imo.

.FTR.

OMG I loved this game too!!! it was actually hilarious and the plot was so random :D

Kirby squeak squad: This game had no plot. Kirby goes on an adventure to save A SLICE OF CAKE! and It was patheticly easy to complete. Finding the Chests wasnt hard at all. First game I ever 100%ed. But even so. I adore it~

All harry potter games: Each and everyone of them is Either: Too easy. Or too boring. Half of them dont follow the Plot of the books or movies. The graphics are ok. and The Voice acting is good. but in general they arent good. BUT I love them all. I like what they did with them all. I finally get to explore Hogwarts! WITHOUT GOING TO ENGLAND! SWEET!

Mario party one: This game. was Bad in many ways. and GOOD in many ways. Bad: It was really too short. The minigame funsies can only keep you entertained for so long. Speaking of Mini games The minigames Were fun as all hell. With HELLISH ones mixed in. (Im looking at you Crane game. Hot rope jump. Pass the bob-omb and ANY GAME WHERE YOU HAVE TO ROTATE THE CONTROLSTICK!) Some of them Were so Hellish the way you were supposed to play them. INJURED YOU! The Spining ones. Well That gave rashes and split the skin. Causing Nintendo to be sued by Familys across the globe. Which Nintendo lost and was forced to Give all the Familys a Pair of protective gloves. -__- But even so. I adore it. Its so much fun~

(Youd be surprized at how much hate this game gets.)

The very first Harry Potter game waaaay back on the PSone - I think I received that as a gift about 10 years ago. From what I've read about it, the general consensus from reviewers was that it was pretty dire, and in retrospect it's not too difficult to see why. Hogwarts castle was really pathetic (not to mention rather empty) and the game in itself was ridiculously easy. Nevertheless I loved it to bits back then, during which the Harry Potter fan in me started to consolidate, and I remember buying the sequel straightaway afterwards as well. I think for a young gamer like me back in the day though, the easy setting was beneficial in that I would rarely be intensely frustrated at a particular few points in the game and then just give up for a while. If I were to play the game now though, it would certainly evoke a bit of nostalgia in me, but I certainly see myself hating it soon enough. :wacky:

So yeah, my post technically goes against what the thread title says. xD

I suppose I'll say World of Warcraft in regards to the latest expansion. It fails to deliver anything substantial in comparison to the past. In truth, I only remain playing due to friends and the lack of appealing alternatives.

They turned a (relatively) immersive world into a cesspit of pop culture references with little to no thought into how it'd affect lore fans and roleplayers.

Pokemon...Definatly.

I don't like the repetitivness of the game, the pokemon names are rediculous....
BUt it's so addictive, I play it anyway trying to get everything I can in the game! xD

When I was small like 7-8 years old,I really liked Monkey Hero.Lol,even though I understood very few english back then so didn't know what to do most of the times just randomly running from place to place. But I really liked it and I remember that I'd try to dress up as monkey(of course it needed a lot of imagination for that XD) and then get some objects that I imagined were like his and then I'd go on an "adventure".I still like it and when I play it I remember those fun times.

Rumble Roses-To this day I still consider it one of my favorite games, although now I know that it's kinda a slutty game, but who cares anyway.Played it thousand times,,and the memories of it are golden.

Koudelka-This isn't pretty old.I got to know it last year. But it's this year I am getting my hands on it and the bad luck is that the PSP file isn't that good,so it freezes just after the first boss when I change room.It sucks...but I have watched it in the youtube, you know the playthrough and I enjoyed it.I really like the scenery. It's very atmospheric. The characters seemed well-developed,not shallow and I found the voice-overs lovely(personal opinion),it also had a very good dialogue with mature themes.I find it pretty inovating that it tried to mix RPG with horror,I'd be very pleased to see other RPGs with the same theme.

PoKeMoN - Certain games in the series are just awful but I play them anyway because it's so addicting. Though I suspect I feel this way because PKMN is basicly my childhood.

Another Code - Way too easy from start to finish. The storyline was good and it had its element of surprise but there was not really a single challenge in the game. Despite this, I play through it often and plan to do so at a later date.

Star Ocean - This series can bore or frustrate me. I know that the latest game bores the hell out of me but I keep playing anyway. I can't help it! Don't ask me why, I just seem to keep crawling back to it. :sad3:

Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2- I think I'd call this my favorite bad game. The character models are bland (with the exception of Kain), the gameplay is boring, the combat is WAY too easy, and the game glitches entirely far too much. But the story's very interesting, the atmosphere and setting are captivating, and like all the other games in the series the voice acting is amazing.

Devil May Cry 2 - This game got alot of grief from fans and I guess I can understand. If you compare it to the first game, it's not that great. But on it's own, it's not really a bad game. The story's nothing special and the voice work is, in a word, laughable. But I liked the overall design of the game. The landscape, the enemies and bosses all look badass, and this was probably my favorite incarnation of Dante. He's not trying to do that 90's hero, one-liner stuff he pulled in the first game (and failed miserably). He's serious, he's determined, and he's got no time for your bullshit. I read that alot of fans were upset with how serious they made Dante in this game. I think that's why they made him so annoying in the third game. They only real flaw that got to me was how they handled the weapons. There's not much customization and you only get one devil form (actually, you get two but you only get the second one when in critical condition and with that you're basically God because of how way too fucking powerful this form is) and because how easy the game is, the swords are basically useless. Playing as Lucrecia was pointless, too. I mean, yeah she was sexy but that doesn't make her character worth playing. But, regardless, I liked this game alot.

Gauntlet: Dark Legacy - Someone pointed this game out in an earlier post and I concur. This game isn't really that great, but for some reason it's one of the most fun multi-player games I've ever played. When playing it solo, it's not that great. But with other people, it's addicting for some reason. Of course, there's really not much replay value though. But for what it was, it was fun.

Well it's like this at the start of every expansion, but I'll be the last person to say that they've done a good job shifting the gears from Beta to Live.

But I think I'm just gonna limit my post to console games;

Disgaea 2
Eureka Seven games
Persona 3 (PS2 Version) Drives me up the wall that I can't control my characters.

Pokemon is pretty much a given... Most of us 90's kids grew up on Pokemans. With our Holo Machamps and Charizard cards to every installment of the classic gameboy to gameboy COLOR.

Honestly the game is just rape that guy before he rapes you, there's no real interesting plot or strategy to play the game. Gotta Catch'em All :wacky:

Why all the Pokemon hate? What it lacks in story it makes up for in... something. I'm not really sure what. Probably charisma. But whatever.

I'm enjoying FFVIII which I know a lot of people didn't like but I wouldn't consider it a bad game by any means. I dunno.

Also the Mario Party games. I played them as a child and the nostalgia factor is still shining through.

Well the name of the thread is "Games that are bad, but you like anyway" and Pokemon just seems to fit into that category for a lot of people.

I'm personally accustomed to 5-10 minute long boss fights, as opposed to hitting something once or twice until it's dead.

<_<

Samurai Warriors.

It's cheesy as all hell, but it's some nice hack 'n slash fun. My one vice concerning video games. The greatest fun is playing with a friend though -- and making funny cracks to each other as you play the game. ^_^ Ah, my, I do have some very fond memories of these games! ^_^
