So In the Final Fantasy world Chocobo's have been used for many things... simply getting from one place to another on the map. They have been used for mini games like Racing. Had to use them to get to secret places. You even had to fight with or against them. So what was your favorite thing to do with the chocobo?
 
I really loved when Chocobos were essentially used for "Cavalry" in FFX! They looked so badass, and we actually proportionate to the character models. Their fine shiny armour, their huge tough beaks. Shame the chocobo eater had to go on a rampage though!

No really, I enjoyed the way they incorporated Chocobos into the storyline with FFX. Even if it was a bit like "quick call the RSPCA, animals are being used as war toys!" xD

The chocobo racing game of FF7, and FF5 Black flying Chocobo was great too.

I never understood FF8 chocobo minigame.

In FF12 i liked to kill some wild Chocobos, but just because they were evil.

The cake take it the FF8 Boco-summon, so cute.

I agree! That scene in FFX is absolutely incredible, and it was the first time I really appreciated just what chocobos are in the FF Universe. I personally enjoy riding them on the world map the most! They're an efficient way of getting around as you can avoid random battles and travel quickly, enjoying the FF scenery as the chocobo theme - which we must admit is very catchy and lighthearted - plays in the background.

I do enjoy races, but I prefer racing games with long courses and a variety of interesting routes if I'm going to do that. :)

Fighting-wise...Well, they were awesome team members in XIII-2, but having them in my team did not and could never beat riding them across an open field! :)
 
Chocobo racing in VII was my favorite part. I also enjoyed using them to fight and ride in Tactics. Red Chocobo using Choco Meteor saved me in a few battles.
 
I definitely think they where well suited in VII, that side quest of getting the elusive Golden Chocobo made it all worth it when you got Knights of the Round materia. I also liked what they did in IX and X. However, VIII was totally pointless and didn't really work unless you had a PocketStation.
 
I loved finding items by playing Chocobo Hot and Cold in FFIX - such an addictive game, and it was fun seeing Fat Choco in Chocobo's Paradise!
 
chocobo hot and cold is by far my favorite thing, but i never got around to getting the different types of chocobos. i would get too involved with the storyline. :nerd:
 
I just like them for the traveling. I've never really used them for anything else in any FF game. Thought I guess i used them a couple of times for treasure hunting in FFIX but I didn't have any patience to continue with that.
 
I guess my favorite thing to do with them was race them. Even though I enjoyed traveling with them cause the music was cool and nice to listen to, there was just more of an enjoyment in racing them. Since in VII and XIII-2 they did put a small thing into raising them. So it was nice to have a small satisfaction in that your chocobo could kick ass at the races.

I will also the say the chocobo knight from X was good as well. It was neat to see them employed in a different way then we were used to seeing. And also interesting to see a whole cavalry just assigned to them.
 
I selected other. I liked the Chocobo breeding aspect of FFVII.

I know it wasn't massively detailed or anything like that, but I loved the idea that I had to go out and find a good pair to breed to get a real race winner, and a lot of love and care went into it all... Maybe I just manufactured such thoughts to ease the pain of throwing so much gil down the drain!

In FF7, breeding the chocobos were one of the main highlights for me, and then heading to Gold Saucer to race them. Not to mention the different colors included and not simply sticking to yellow - it was really enjoyable to see. The feature of chocobos in FFIX was my second favorite. Chocograph, wasn't it? Now those were useful, though not as fun as raising my own chocobos.

^ Yeah was about to mention this. FF VII breeding was the best. You could also choose what colour Chocobo you wanted by what nut and greens you gave their parents and you could even give them names. It felt like you had gained actual pets of your own.
