Age for sex?

If you want to get technical with it...
Tearing the hymen at such an early point in a girl's life might lead to difficulties in her sex life later on. o_O
Not to mention, I'm sure it would be incredibly painful at such a young age.

Well, you're talking about rape, and that's a completely different story.

We're talking about LEGAL underage sex here. It wouldn't be much of a debate if the other side had to defend criminals, see?

It duznt really matter what the law say is the legal acceptable age to have sex cuz kids are gonna shag anyway. I mean drugs are illegal but kids still do them, sum from a young age, i was taking drugs b4 i lost my virginity. It duznt matter what the law says cuz theres always gonna be ppl out there havin sex when they want to. This duznt mean i agree in young folk havin sex tho in my oppinion u shud be at least 15 before u shud do it, but my oppnion isnt goin to change any1s mind is it?

Sex is disgusting and a freaking insult to human dignity, yet were cursed to do it to survive. For now, at least. Future technology may make all reproduction occur in laboratories, and with all of the advances in genetic technology coming out recently, this doesn't look so far off.

Heck, people of the future may look back at us the way we look at the people of ancient Sparta. They weeded out weak children by leaving all male newborns on cliffs for three days and only taking the survivors. We weed out bad parents by forcing them into poverty or having to put their kid up for adoption if they have the stupidity to have a child while underage. It's sickening, but like in ancient Sparta, we just use the same "It doesn't hurt you, so don't complain" excuse.

Rhea, I would appreciate it if you don't compare people to animals here. If you haven't noticed, we have the capability to wipe any of those species off the face of the earth while they can't do the same to us, and it certainly isn't due to our ability to have sex. People don't need to have sex any more than they need to drink or smoke, and any statement to the contrary is ignorant and most certainly not "moral".

This whole argument is getting a little ridiculous- yes, I know we need to have sex, and I know there are examples of societies that have been wiped out by banning sex, but there is NO excuse for ANYONE under the age of 17 should have sex. It just should not be happening, period.
Technology has the potential of doing that, but just look around. A majority of people have intercourse nowadays due to the pleasure aspect. I highly doubt humankind will replace something they love to do. If anything, they'll use the technology to become more effective at eliminating the consequences for having sex so they can just do it more. Personally that disgusts me, but nothing I say will make a difference anyway.

As to the comparison of people to animals, humans -are- animals. Generally we like to think we're of a more civilized, intelligent, superior nature to all others and as you said, "wipe any other species off the face of the earth," but that's just egotistical. Again I ask you to look around and take the time to perhaps observe nature. Each species has its adaptations and capabilities, and believe me, they use them a lot more efficiently than we do our own capabilities. And of course they can do the same to us: ever come face to face with a pissed lion? You'd be dead, son. I have a lot more to say on this but well, it's off-topic enough already.

Age is commonly associated with maturity, though yes I'm well aware that there are some young ones more mature than the elders. Generally speaking though, it's logical that a better head on your shoulders comes from having had more experience in the game of life. Some young ones (and in this I include equal-to and below the age of approximately 18) feel they're absolutely ready for something, though after the fact turn around and get the shock of their lives. Haste and that strong sense of pride to be viewed as old; mature; responsible; "an adult;" can cause them to overlook things. We're so eager to do such things like drive, go to college, move out: it's harder than we originally thought most times: and sex is the same.

I'm a strong believer that sex should be experienced after marriage, because to me, it's more than just an expression of love - it's a union of souls, one of the signs of maximum commitment, and much more... special, for lack of a better word, when saved for your true love. It's also planning and well thought-out.

I was deeply disappointed to see Rhea say something along the lines of the partner being "sorely disappointed that you don't know what you're doing," as if placing guilt that some of us haven't thrown away our virginity and pressuring to go out and find someone at this very moment. Maybe you didn't intend that, but that's how it came across, and I found it disgusting.
I don't want to be with someone to find out they merely loved how I was in bed versus me as a person. I'm not some object to be used and disposed of.

Legal underage sex? ... But underage sex is supposed to be illegal? *is confused*

Anyway, they weren't talking about rape, just the effects of a girl breaking her hymen at such a young age.

Aaaaaaaaanywho:

I'm 16, a virgin, and proud of it. I'm sick of many guys in my school thinking they're "manly" etc, just because they can play with themselves and stick it to their girlfriends on a regular basis. I find their conversations on "MILF" quite disturbing. I could never have sex with someone 20+ years older than me ... I've been asked various things like "If a girl offered to have sex with you, would you do her?"

Things like this are STUPID. I'm not going to lose my virginity to SOMEONE I COULD CARE LESS ABOUT. What if she had an STD? I really would be fucked then! ¬_¬ When I have sex, I want it with someone I care about (and preferably someone who is also a virgin, so I don't look bad XD). These blinkered morons who think sex dominates the meaning of their existance should be slapped repeatedly with a large, wet cod across the face.

Age? I don't think this "do it when you're ready" argument is strong enough. An 11 year old might consider themselves "ready", but does it make it any less disturbing? Hell no. I think 17+ is a good way to go. You're (hopefully) mature enough to understand the possibilites of what might happen, and how you can prepare to avoid them. If the person isn't ready, it can have devestating effects on their life. I could rant and rant and rant on this, but I'll stop here.

Lol. I was joking. I did say I have respect for those of you who can resist your urges. Don't get me wrong for taking choosing to take the side that I've been arguing for...I'm not a ferocious sex-craving nympho; not in the least.
I just don't see any logic in purposefully disregarding your natural temptations. ^_^

oh thats a good point. I AGREE:)

Well I'm not saying to go out and shag anyone you see fit...
I do think that people should be nurtured to understand more about STD and pregnancy risks rather than just the "waiting for your soulmate" factor. :)

Kids are being taught about STDs (apparently the new name is STI: Sexually Transmited Infections) in school in grades lowest as grade 5; I've been in it, and they've been teaching us about it since then (Now I'm in grade 9). But I suppose unless kids take health class throughout high school from 10+, then they're not going to be endowed with any further knowledge. Perhaps it should be a manditory class.

As far as I know...it is required to learn sex-education in most schools in america.
But you know what strikes me as odd? Like you said...
We were introduced to 2 videos regarding sex-education in the 5th grade. 2 videos...
And after that, it was never required as a part of our learing again.

The only other class in which I'd seen any form of sex-ed was in home economics...which of course is not a required course.

Yeah, we just talked about it breifly this past week in my home ec. class (don't laugh, Im the only guy in my class, and you know what that means). It was just a mention though when we were talking about rape and sex. They didn't go into any in-depth expo on it.

I don't like this thread. It reminds me of how much I really hate high school.

I'm going to be 17 next month and I'm STILL going to be a virgin, despite the numerous amount of girls I talk with. I mean, yah, I could get laid if I wanted to THAT badly, but I don't. Like Grand Lethal said, I also wish to commit my sinful deed with someone I've developed feelings for. I also feel the same way about getting with a virgin. I don't ever want to have to experience sex with someone who's not a virgin. But I don't think it's odd for people that are 20+ years to be virgins. It's very normal. That's when you are out of High School and stereotypes are no longer an issue. At least... So my friend says. When I was a kid I always thought that sex was a little overrated, but now I'm just curious George. It must be something great. The anticipation wells up inside of me and I get thinking... But people who are labeled as losers in high school aren't allowed to lose their virginity to someone they like in most cases. All those obsessed about what's on the outside don't realize, that when it all boils down to it, what's inside? Does your partner care? Are they just here for sexual favours that you both enjoy? Will they be there when you need them the most? These things won't occur until they've been shattered or been hurt inside very badly.

I know what you mean Squizz. Im only 15, but most of my friends are girls and I doubt anything will happen for a long time because everyone of them see me as "their older brother", because I'm always looking out for them and watching their back. I dont hate high school though, just silly how the girls I know can't take hints.

*chuckles* Alright, thank you for clarifying. However, do you think it wise to react to all natural temptations? Think about it: if you acted on every natural impulse you've had, you'd probably be in a lot of trouble. I.e. a kid side-swiped your car and took off laughing. Natural impulse - nail his sorry little ___ right? ;)

I would be in jail for mutual rape.

 Fine, fine, forcing me to resort to different examples...

Say you're at the store and have a few bucks to spend. At the register, you find you don't have enough to buy both the broccoli and the fudge cake. Which to buy...?

I hope you like fudge cake, because otherwise the example doesn't work haha, replace it with some dessert you do like.

But the point being, the temptation is the dessert and if say, you're trying to be healthy or to lose weight etc., the broccoli would've been the better choice. Repeat the choice of the cake/dessert and well, there goes the healthy plan. The natural desire isn't always one to be acted upon.

No, lol.
It was agains the law where I lived to have sex under the age of 16.
If 16 year olds did have sex (which is usually out of their parents control anyway), it's considered statatory rape to sleep with someone more than two years your senior.

Ooo thats good. scared me for a sec lol

I'm only 14 (no du) and my friends are telling me to fuck my girl and she only 14 too and my friends are 12 and 15
