Age for sex?

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (AP) -- Five fifth-grade students face criminal charges after authorities said four of them had sex in front of other students in an unsupervised classroom and kept a classmate posted as a lookout for teachers.

The students were arrested Tuesday at the Spearsville school in rural north Louisiana, authorities said. Two 11-year-old girls, a 12-year-old boy and a 13-year old boy were charged with obscenity, a felony. An 11-year-old boy, the alleged lookout, was charged with being an accessory.

"After 44 years of doing this work, nothing shocks me anymore," said Union Parish Sheriff Bob Buckley. "But this comes pretty close."

Authorities said the incident happened March 27 at the school, which houses students from kindergarten through 12th grade. A high school teacher normally watches the fifth-grade class at the time, but went to an assembly for older students and the class was inadvertently left unattended, Buckley said.

The class, which had around 10 other students, was alone for about 15 minutes, he said.

"When no teacher showed up, the four began to have sex in the classroom with the other elementary students in the classroom with them," he said.

It took a day for authorities to find out about the incident. A student who had been in the class told a high school student about it the next day, Buckley said. The student told a teacher, and school officials notified the sheriff's office. Detectives began questioning students Thursday.

School officials did not return calls seeking comment.

The students, who were not identified because of their age, were released to their parents after their arrests, Buckley said. They will next be arraigned in juvenile court.

A message seeking comment from the district attorney was not immediately returned.

Buckley said it was unclear what penalties the children could face.

Sorely disappointed? So I gather intercourse with a virgin offers ZERO PLEASURE.....They won't know what they're doing??? it's not like I'm gonna stick it in her gott-damn eye. If having intercourse with a sex-noob is actually disappointing, then there would be a whooole lot more virgins around. ''Hey Roy, did you have sex with that virgin girl yet?'' Of course they're two different things: you can't add support to a side of the argument with information that's already being argued about. And Auron, I said replace it with something you -do- like, if you read that. You've missed the point completely anyway.

My example merely proved how natural temptations shouldn't always be taken. Rhea's (if you're passionate about your new name, I'll use it, but in the meantime I can't find myself to type that... lol) previous argument stated how it was illogical to resist temptations. So Rhea, how do you disagree with the idea of the first line in this paragraph?

Thats ridiculous. I'm not even sure if thats legal (but I live in Canada), I'm pretty sure here, you can't be arrested for anything unless your 16 or more.

Grade 5, though? I'm sure they just had health class and were being immature. Probably didn't have any idea what they were doing. I don't know why in the hell they arressted 10 year olds.
 
"Being immature"? That's a very light way of terming that situation, Avin. Personally I don't care how old they are, it's good they were arrested for their actions. Plus, if they'd just had health class, they'd know what it was all about. No, I'm fairly sure they knew exactly what they were doing.
 
I remember in my health classes in grade 5, the only thing they talked about was how sperm is created in the testicles, and that you have to put you penis in a vagina to reproduce. They didn't even talk about ejaculation.

And back in my grade 5 class, everyone had seen a porn video or picutres before, so they knew what is was when the teachers talked about putting your penis in a vagina.
 
Exactly, so you can't really argue that they were young and clueless. I'm not saying they had to know everything there is to know about sex, hell, adults still don't know everything about it and the consequences. The main thing is, they knew the penis and the vagina went together to reproduce - that's knowing what they're doing. Children know about sex at an earlier time I believe as well, though not formally introduced until around 5th year. They have a good sense of realizing it's not viewed as "clean."
 
I don't think marriage is preliminary really, but I think the two have to feel a deep emotional bond with each other, because then it's meaningless, people just treat is as something to do casually these days as if it were a hobby.
People need to start treating such an important thing with a little more respect. It's obvious hardly any person under 18 is really gonna feel extremely strong, real love for someone. Therefore I would say it's wrong. But if they wanna throw their lives away, let 'em.
 
"Any age as long as its consentual, except with an adult". How fucked up is that opinion? That like saying any car colour as long as its not green.

My opinion is that CONSENT is the the key word. Expoitation is the counter arguement. Well, anybody of any age can exploit somebody.

You know in your heart of hearts when it is the right time.
 
There alredy are laws against minors/adults having sex. As for me, i think the late teens 16/17 are fine.

This thread asks for my opinion anyway. In that case, a 14 year old might want to have sex, so could a 13 year old with an older person.
Plus, your other post makes no sense with your last if you think about it.
