Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 is 70% complete – report

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy is currently 70% complete, according to a report from Japanese magazine Famitsu.
This Famitsu reader tweeted out the status of all current Final Fantasy projects. Note that Versus is absent from the list:

So that’s Final Fantasy X HD at 80% complete, Final Fantasy X-2 HD at 65%, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 at 70% and then finally, Final Fantasy 8 on PC at 80%.

It was recently rumoured that Final Fantasy Versus 13 had been renamed Final Fantasy 15 and was heading to next-gen formats. Check out our report through the link.

So it seems Lightning Returns could be targeting a ‘Fall’ release. What do you think folks?

I am so glad this game is nearly 2/3 done. I cannot wait for it. It looks amazing. It will be the most polished game yet, with unparallelled writing, packed with variety and fresh new ideas:

Oh what the heck, I can see myself caving in for the FFX and FFX-2 HD release. I mean, I just spent ten quid on FFX's OST alone...

Cant wait for versus...ill just have to bite my tongue for LR. the game looks incredibly mixed with ideas of other games. Graphically, it looks fine.

I am actually really looking forward to this game, believe it or not. I've really enjoyed FFXIII so far, and I think this has potential to be at least an okay game. I really just want to see how it finishes up the story, and whether it ends up being a complete fail or not. XD

Where do these arbitrary completion percentages even come from? I'm about 90% sure they just make these up so they've got something to tell expectant fans during their ridiculously long development times...despite the fact that the gap between XIII-2 and LR won't be all that long and most people are more concerned with everything BUT this imminent disaster.

Also, those screenshots look bland and generic as hell. I expect it'll be a graphically impressive game - after all, that's the only thing Square Enix ever focus on these days - but do the environments have to be so bland?
