Tetsuya Nomura seemed ready to share new bits of information as of a few days ago to Famitsu regarding Versus. Breathes were held, heartbeats bated... but we were left hanging.

According to adriasang, what could have been an update to Versus has been cancelled, as Nomura cited "completely unrelated circumstances" that are preventing him from sharing new information. He also said he's not allowed to talk about the situation.

So what does this mean to people? Well.. Nothing I suppose, as Versus continues to remain a mystery! But why now even more cloak and dagger? What could be so horrible that he's not even allowed to talk about it?

I was 16 when Versus was announced... it's sad to think that for 6 years, we've barely gotten anything out of this man.

If Versus has changed into FF 13-3 I'm going to jump off a bridge. :rage:

I wouldn't want to live on this planet anymore.

I don't really like the look of Versus right now, it's hard to judge with so much small information but it has potential to shine; and I don't want it to be related to that FF13 trash.:amg:

FF13 was trash and FF13- 2 was good until that flopping dreadful ending and how they want us to pay for more details within the ending. What ? No !:amg:

The sad thing is, after FF13-2 I don't trust SE anymore and this feels like really bad news.

SE please think about your actual true fans and not those annoying 14 year olds that think FF13 is ''cool " and think that every other FF sucks because it has no J-pop music in it. :argh:



 
This news article is a bit misleading. Other gaming news sites have slightly different descriptions. Nomura was actually interviewed about the new Kingdom Hearts game and just casually answered this question about Versus.

Tetsuya Nomura told Famitsu during a Kingdom Hearts 3D interview this week that he is almost ready to share new information on Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
Unfortunately, due to “unrelated circumstances,” he cannot yet share that info. He is unable to speak of the situation at current, and can only continue discussions with whoever is involved.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII was announced for PlayStation 3 at E3 2006.

this is just the fail of fails, it like 'yhhhhh sorry i cba to give you the one line of information we were going to give you XD' this is getting stupid now square, no versus 13 news, no FFXHD news, i'm starting to get ever sooo slightly ticked off :hmph:
 
Most likely since it was a Kingdom Hearts interview, he had to stick to that topic and promote that specific game. Not uncommon, and it wouldnt surprise me if he was under order to do so.

If it became XIII-3, I wouldnt mind, but I seriously doubt it. Everything about the game is WAY too different.

EDIT: also about it being in development that long, I think the case is, they just announced it way too early. I believe that for at least 2 of those years, it was more pre-planning stages, where actual development was only for 4 years, plus they got held up with FFXIII-2 and the like. Id say so far, actual full blown development time has only been 3 years. But still, if they were going to do this, dont announce the game so damn early.

I take it this means SE is starting to put the hurt on Nomura to hurry with this thing, that's what I make of all of this. I can't believe it's been six years and this game is still not out.

If this game ends up being lame I'm gonna be ticked, man. :hmph:
 
Yeah, it's been years since it was first announced. It got me pretty hyped with gameplay. But starting to lose interest and hope.

I just wish somewhere this year we get a fixed released date, but that's probably asking too much.

If SE wants to cause a big impression they have a chance with this game. Thankfully no name changing to XII-3, XV, etc
 
Completely unrelated circumstances? Yea right. The game looked good to me at first, now it looks okay. If they keep up with this delay, I'm not sure I'll care for it anymore.

If it takes this long, it probably means it won't be good. :C
 
to me everything about FF Versus is fighting within SE i don't think anyone can agree on anything i feel the game keeps changing to keep up with the new game types now the standard everyone expects is so high SE has to keep tweaking things

we will see it soon i'm sure of that because it seems SE really wants to move onto kingdom hearts 3 but they said FF Versus would always come first

Has it been that long? :( Keep waiting for any good news from Versus, I hope it doesn't turn into a Duke Nukem Forever.:gasp:
 
They need to get this out already. How many years has it been since they announced any new material? Whether Nomura was under order to not answer any questions regarding the status or developmental progress of "Versus" doesn't bother me. What bothers me is the long period of time that stretched on between when we got recent scans and video footage of gameplay content until years later where we don't hear a peep about what's been improved, tweaked, or what can be expected. I haven't checked up on this as consistently and I've lost my excitement for it (as others have already expressed this as well) particularly because Nomura and his development team have been keeping so much under wraps about this game. I'm starting to have suspicions ...

This is news? They have withheld any real information about the game for a good 6 years now. To be honest if this game gets any real information other than a big CANCEL on it I will be shocked. I mean they released games they announced way later than this already, so saying they are "withholding" any information about this game is not really news In my opinion, more of "oh great they haven't even started yet"
