"Three young male characters who accompany Noctis have been revealed; their relationship seems to resemble that of the kyodai (brothers) and shatei (little brothers) in the Yakuza hierarchy. The first, named Ignis, a man with light brown hair and glasses who wears a suit, is frequently seen at the wheel of Noctis's car, and appears to be his driver. The second, a friendly man with dark brown hair and a scar over his left eye named Gladiolus, seems to act as the group's senior. The third, Prompto, a blond-haired man, is said to be a fugitive, and carries a shotgun despite the ban on firearms within Noctis's kingdom"

So if you look really closely at the Versus trailer they released yesterday, their names are near their faces on the side...

oh this is awesome, thanks for sharing! Although I don't know what I think about the name Prompio lulz

Thanks for sharing Stella , you are ace !
Gotta love this name: Glaciolus
Nice I was looking forward to hear about their names, I like them..I even like Prompio cause he does seem like the goofball of the crew.

Yakuza inspired in Shinjuku district....man this game will be gangsta , mafia shit..
Loving the news!

Sounds like a lot of mafia reference for sure in the game. I like =) The names are not of the normal FF style in my opinion.

Seems like like they are keeping to the names with Latin meanings.

Ignis is "fire" in Latin

Gladiolus is "diminutive of gladius, a sword" in Latin

Prompto means to "to bring about" or "to make ready" in Latin

They really don't roll off of my tongue very well, but I like that and I think I'll get used to them. I really like them because they are all so different. You're welcome Ohri ...and thanks ^_^

Giving the third one a thunder related name would have made much more sense...:hmph:

Still, it's nice to know they're not just being saddled with generic Japanese names. Hell knows we've had enough of those to last a lifetime or three...

Not a bad thing by any means, I'm thinking that some fresh ideas might take the series in a positive direction. A new breed of JRPG perhaps for this generation and beyond.

They had names?! Who knew? But that is pretty cool that they are releasing some more info on versus. Still... it's not enough to quench my curiosity

I did notice this also. I thought they were something else at first but I did notice the names on the side in the trailer. I just didnt know which name matched which person XD. Thanks for posting this Melody ^^

I did notice this but I wasn't too sure if it was really there names but it probably is.

The names in this FF does have a kind of "flare" to it if you understand what im saying. Sounds Shakespearen and well this game does have quotes from William Shakespeare himself.

I like the animations which is near their name on the battle screen looks really cool.

Man I can't wait an FINALLY SE have decided to make an adult-style FF despite the makers being Kingdom Hearts.

They'll change those names to something that makes more sense in English.

I don't care if they stayed the same, the names aren't important to me, but I suspect they will change them to something more identifiable to English speakers.

I suspect we'll see translation errors. We seem to be seeing them already if the discrepancy the previous poster pointed out is true.

No I doubt that, coz then they would have t change the Names of Noctis & Stella,
they will keep these names for continuity of the VERSUS storyline.

FF has always had a strong connection with latin, its what peaqeud my interest in the language, but finally S-E has made it a primary crux to a world Fabula Nova Crystalis:ryan:

Also on the Glaciolus is more attributed to the word Glacier:to freeze.
Gladious sound more appropriate.

I'm glad they changed the latter name, the first two I can live with but "Glaciolus" has girl written all over it. Not some guy who looks like he's part of a crew. :hmph:

I dunno. I disagree. To me Glaciolus sounds and looks like "Gladiator ", which is kind of masculine. :andry:

Stella- I didn't mean to correct you like a teacher, just thought I would throw out what I had read.

_Symph- I think GLADious looks way more like gladiator than Glaciolus.

Its funny how much in these games derives from latin & its antecedents, the romance languages.

I've been waiting to know those guys' names for ever :gasp:

That blond one is cute, not the one with glasses the other one, who looks like Roxas.

Okay everyone, going back into the Final Fantasy Wiki and looking VERY closely at this picture:

...I edited my OP again. There are conflicting thoughts on whether the "I" in Prompio's name was really a "T" ...however the Wiki is calling him Prompto and the Playstation Informer site is also citing Prompto as a possibility...so I'm going with that. Sorry again ...hopefully this will be the last time I have to make corrections to this thread. ^_^

Doesn't make much of a difference........Prompio or either Prompto the name does sound kinda funny to me :lew:. And judging by his attitude and what he said in the recent trailer he does sound like a funny guy. Since he's name funny to me as well, guess I won't have a problem with it :wacky:.
