Final Fantasy Type-0 Characters Level Up While You And Your PSP Sleep

By Spencer . October 3, 2011 . 12:14am
Grinding should be easier in Final Fantasy Type-0. The game’s secret mission feature grants your characters experience points while your PSP is in sleep mode. As long as Final Fantasy Type-0 is loaded and your PSP isn’t out of batteries your Class Zero students will continue to study and gain AP when they level up.

You can use AP to purchase new abilities. Ace can learn Cannon Laser (and not Laser Cannon!) which shoots a beam of light straight forward. The blast of light remains on screen for a few seconds and continues to damage enemies even after Ace moves.

Energy Bomb is one of Queen’s abilities, which creates a magic circle around her. All of enemies trapped in the field take damage and players can increase the amount of damage by continuing to press a button.

Nine can learn Slow Lancer, which has hi lock on an enemy and rapidly toss spears at an enemy.

Rem’s Boomerang Dagger skill has her put her dual daggers together and toss them like a boomerang. The daggers return to Rem and players can repeat the attack again and again to deal more damage.

Machina’s Sword Field is a neat looking skill. When he uses this attack he creates to rapiers made of light than spin around him and damage any enemy they touch. Machina can move while this ability is active and assault enemies with his spinning blades of death.

Want to level up faster? Suzaku has an arena where players can set up simulation battles. While these are mock fights, the experience and phantoma gained is real. You can set up to twenty fights in a row.

Final Fantasy Type-0 has airship combat too and in these battles you have a limited amount of time to shoot down dragons from rival nation Souryu. Fortunately, Suzaku’s ships are armed with magical guns to shoot the dragons down. Some dragons will land on your deck, forcing Class Zero into combat. Other dragons carry the five star Souryu guard.

Square Enix also created a conquest mode, which plays like a tactics game. Moogles give players missions such as defending a base, attacking an enemy camp or aiding allied troops. Moogles can also give players special missions and if you complete these you get to control a base. Once in control, you can command units to move out and siege rival nations. The overall goal in mission mode is to protect your land and capture enemy territory.

Final Fantasy Type-0 comes out on October 27 in Japan.

Final Fantasy Type-0 RTS, character screenshots Square Enix releases 47 new images.

FFT0-Screens_10-02.jpg

Square Enix released a new set of Final Fantasy Type-0 screenshots and artwork today, giving us a look at the game’s real-time strategy elements, as well as some new non-playable characters.
Conquest Battle, the game’s real-time strategy feature, has players protecting their base and conquering those of their enemies. Players order their troops in battle, the outcome of which decides which nation controls which parts of the world map.
The images make known the usually quiet Aria, the self-proclaimed “merchant of fire” Carla, and the self-proclaimed “every man’s idol” Naghi.
Additionally, we’re introduced to Caetuna and Nimbus, the latter of which is a boss battle. Another boss, Diabolos, is also seen. Characters Diva and Enkidu are in the batch. The Cranberry Knights, a force of Moogle soldiers, are shown as well.

Diablos Is Another One Of Final Fantasy Type-0′s Summons

By Ishaan . October 2, 2011 . 3:00pm

We already know Shiva and Ifrit are in Final Fantasy Type-0. Today, Square Enix revealed that you’ll be able to summon Diablos as well. He can use a Gravity Ball move.

On the subject of characters, Square also revealed some of the game’s supporting cast. Let’s start with some of the other characters at Suzaku:

Naghi:
A self proclaimed “everyone’s idol,” Naghi works in Suzaku’s intelligence division.

Carla:
Self-proclaimed “merchant of flame,” Carla is an honours student who sells information.

Aria:
Class 0’s orderly.

Caetuna:
Onto non-class 0 characters. A L’cie from Suzaku, and an expert in summoning magic, Caetuna is the oldest L’cie in the world of Orience.

Nimbus:
Nimbus is also a L’cie, nearly 100-years-old, and carries out the will of the Byakko crystal. All other thoughts have been wiped from his mind.

Enkidu:
Has served as a mentor of sorts to Gilgamesh since childhood. Enkidu is sometimes strict, sometimes kind.

Diva:
Diva is one of two beings who watch over the cogs of time. Either that, or she’s both of them. We aren’t sure. What we do know is that she’s the lady (both?) in the Final Fantasy Type-0 logo, and sounds a little like the Watcher.

This game seriously going still be coming out for psp? Vita is suppose to be released at the end of this year aint it? I hope their planning on putting it on the PSN...

But on subject...

I actually am liking this game the more I hear about it. I hope it doesn't end up being a bust :sad3:

Hmm... I have another proposition. How about the game will just play itself? I mean It's not like I would want to do that or anything.

I swear at least half of that information has already been released...

...but AHAHAHA, that's priceless. Square Enix, realising just how tedious their video games are, now make it so that they play themselves, just like FFXIII did, only now they've taken it to a fairly extreme length. I have to admit that it's quite an interesting little idea that conveys a sense of realism to the whole studying/school process they've got going on, kinda like how stuff went on in Animal Crossing when you weren't there, but for an RPG this seems to defeat the point of playing it at all, really. Even if it's extremely slow accumulation, I get the feeling it'll destroy that feeling of pride you get when you get your characters to godly levels. But then, I'm the kind of person who loves level grinding.

Also, Diabolos, fuckin' awesome. I approve of this wholeheartedly, especially considering they haven't really adapted his design from FFVIII much. For once, some good news relating to Final Fantasy, no matter how minor it may be (y)

So theoretically I can deliberately waste this hall of residence's electricity, sleep/attend lectures/be out and about and be levelling up at the same time? Well, I can't say no to that as the part of me who typically liked grinding appears to be dissipating lately. Still, I guess it won't make things that easy as you'll probably still be massacred in the harder difficulties even if you're suddenly Level 70 after 25-30 hours in.

Ahh, the thought of teenage students unleashing the Devil into battle whenever they want. This reminds me of a certain FF game, except that in that particular game they only develop selective amnesia rather than virtually commit seppuku.

I got to say that the auto levelling up feature is pretty awesome XD I am soooo getting this game in from Japan (or buying it off the psn store) let just hope it not such an fail like final fantasy xiii was

EDIT: thanks iPad for calling the psn store a pen :hmph:

Yeah, but what if you are playing on impossible mode or whatever that was in the demo? That was apparently frickin hard. If this will be like Final Fantasy XII where people complained the game played itself because they did not turn off any gambits, this will be laughable. XIII did indeed play itself in battle because it did everything possible for you by auto battle.. which was really dull. Dull in a way that you only had to pick abilities sometimes from the list of commands. I have nothing wrong with this, but I doubt it will help in the long run.

the auto exp gaining idea was also used in "the World Ends With you" ds title

but if i am playing the game i probly wont use it much:awesome:

This is an interesting twist to any game :lew:

Really...when I saw this I thought of the Poke Walker thing for pokemon...because even though its not like the same thing per say its almost the same concept. If you are too lazy to train your characters you can always walk...or sleep and they will level up for you :wacky:

I suppose this will make it easier for people though...and it is an interesting idea. We'll just have to see how it actually plays out.

It just seems a bit out of place for a Final Fantasy game to me.

This has potential.

If it turns out that it's a bit of an over-exaggeration, and this feature turns out to be a fuck up, then it's Square Enix's fault, and their fault alone. A lot of angry gamers would ragequit the game, and stop buying it. On the other hand, if it turns out this is a big success, it could possibly be the most interesting thing to happen to a SE game since Blitzball. I'm not saying I have high hopes for it, but I am being optimistic.
