Square Enix already released Final Fantasy VI on PlayStation Network in Japan and Kefka’s madness is about to reach our shores. The ESRB just rated Final Fantasy VI for PSP and PlayStation 3, which locks it for a release as a PsOne classic in North America.

Shinji Hashimoto said the Japanese version of Final Fantasy VI clocks in at 185 MB over Twitter. The opening and ending movies probably account for most of the file size.

We learned last week Final Fantasy VI will also be released on Virtual Console in North America as Final Fantasy III. So, if you have a PSP, PS3 or Wii you’ll be able to download Final Fantasy VI soon.

this is great ff6 on my psp.... if sony ever gets psn working again :mokken:

Sounds good! I've been interested in this game for a while now... Never really had a chance to play any of the legacy games.

I am so going to get this. Even if it takes getting a psn card and such. I always say I will buy a psn card to get some games but this one is one of my all time favorites and this really caught my eye. :ryan:

So are there going to be improved graphics, or should i just shit myself laughing right now :monster:

Well since I have it on GBA and my ds is broken I'll probably get this on psn cause the lighting would be terrible on my GBA >.> I have bad enough eyes already. Worthy buy to me....though they really should update the graphics or put in more goodies or something.

ask yourself this, did they improve graphics on any PSone classics?

but Yaaa finally I can play this game again!!! my cousins broke my PS1 game of this, and well the Snes one wants to delete itself from time to time :(

OH MY GOSH! FINALLY! When will it be out? :33

Now, hopefully, this will result in many, many, many people buying it and then they will be forced to reconsider remaking FF6 xD

I'll literally on FF6 on every system it can go on when this comes out lol

im only interested in getting it if they've sped the battles up - that was torture, do we know if its just a direct port from the ps version or not?

Unless they want FF6 to be different than the other ports, it will be a direct port, just like FF5. :)

As someone who doesn't have FF6, I'm excited to be able to play this as a digital download (no loading) on a 7th generation system (and portable!!).

there are plenty of ways to put the game on your PC and start playing it in less than half an hour. Hell, I still have Anthology.

I just have to wonder how much of a sink in their budget it must be to keep releasing PSX games as PSN Classics if they know this.

For me personally, while I would love to have FFVI on the go, I already have it on my PS1 (via Anthology), and I much rather buy the GBA remake than a port. I'm just gonna hold out for a 3D remake in the future *shrugs*

First of all, I don't own a PC (and will never again). Regardless Final Fantasy VI was never released on PC, so I have to assume you're talking about pirating. Pirating games, even old games, is wrong.
I have no problem throwing 10 dollars Square Enix's way, even for an old game.

The Anthology has incredibly long load times and lacks the ability of being played on both my PS3 and my PSP.

Anyways, with this, FFI, II, and V on it's way, hopefully FFIII is on it's way, if it is we might very well have access to the first 9 Final Fantasy's on PSN... (if it ever gets working again!!).

I finally get to witness Kefka's schemes. I already downloaded two FF games to my PSP. This will probably be the third (or fourth).

:gasp: This came totally out of the blue for me!!!

Staying off the forums a while does keep you off the news.

I'm sure you heard someone else say it before but I'm really glad for this FFVI is one of the greatest 16-bit games :).......Whether its a PS1 port or even NES it doesn't make any difference. Though I doubt a lot of people will play this or even enjoy it. I think the majority of people who buy it will just be retro gamers who've played the damn thing before.

Oh well I don't think I'll buy it as I still have a PS1 copy and a ROM on the PS3, but I do hope people play it and dont judge it by the 16-bit graphics.
