CLEMSON, S.C. – A man has been hospitalized after police in South Carolina say he was hit by an SUV while playing a real-life version of the video game "Frogger."
Authorities said the 23-year-old man was taken to a hospital in Anderson after he was struck at around 9 p.m. Monday.
In the "Frogger" arcade game, players move frogs through traffic on a busy road and through a hazard-filled river. Before he was hit, police say the man had been discussing the game with his friends.
Chief Jimmy Dixon says the man yelled "go" and darted into oncoming traffic in the four-lane highway.
No charges are expected against the driver. The name of the man who was struck has not been released. He was in stable condition Monday night.

It's hard to believe that this is what some people do in their spare time. I mean, darting out into oncoming traffic? What did he expect? If you get splattered on the road in real life, you don't just go back to the beginning and try again.



Sadly, this is just more fuel for those groups who are always protesting that video games are a bad influence.
 
What a fucking twat. If it was my car and i got a huge dent cuz of him id be at the hospital taking his wallet out his pocket.

Is it wrong that I kind of laughed when I read the thread title? The idea of this is just so stupid. If this had killed him he could have been eligible for the Darwin award.

But I have no sympathy. A 23 year old should know that playing real life frogger is a stupid things to do.

To be blunt, the guy is just a completely brainless idiot. There's nothing else to really describe him. I know people like to go to great lengths to get a thrill, but this kind of stupidity just staggers me. And it is always a tiny minority of idiots like this that coerces video games to be made a scapegoat for the usual things.

Oh god, I laughed so hard. I couldn't help myself, it's just so damn ridiculous. I mean, SERIOUSLY? What the bloody hell possessed him to do that? I would LOVE to know what was going through this guy's mind at the time. If I re-enacted video games every time I discussed them with my friends, I'd be in prison long before now.

Am I really the only person who finds this more amusing than irritating, though? Yeah, the guy is a complete moron, but the poetic justice in his actually getting hit by an SUV whilst doing it just makes me cackle with delight. Game Over, dude. Game Over. Although he's still got a continue left by the looks of it...
 
Well, I'm sure that was a smashing experience. I bet he's a real hit with the ladies. I mean, I hate to be blunt, but charging out in front of traffic like that is a one way street to stupiditytown - Population: You.

Sooooo, yeah, at least the guy made a recovery, pretty dumb idea right at the get-go (obviously), and I always hope there's a Dodge Caravan involved every time I hear about someone getting hit by a car. Tee-hee....get it? Because it says DODGE on the front bumper? And that's something he clearly didn't do?

what about the poor guy that hit him? He better be suing the daft twat for all sorts. If that happened to me and I hit someone it'd bleeding traumatise me for life, he'd better hope he was crushed under my wheels or id beat the shit out of him
