Now that it is after Thanksgiving, stores will be playing Christmas songs nonstop. So what do you consider to be the worst Christmas/holiday songs?

Christmas Shoes

I'm sorry, I just hate this song. Not only is it an attempt to be a tear jerker, but I can't help but wonder why this boy isn't by his dying mother's side instead of out guilting someone else to buy his mother shoes?


Do they know it's Christmas Time.

Again, I am sorry, but I really hate guilt tactics.


Wonderful Christmas Time

This song plays on the radio all the time. It's terrible and horribly catchy


Last Christmas

A break up song around Christmas? Really? Sorry just no. I don't care about your relationship angst.

 
The one that I can't stand the most is the "Santa Claus is coming to town" song done by...I think Michael Jackson as a kid, but I'm not sure :hmmm: But whoever the kid is, it is SOOOO whiny and obnoxious, I absolutely can't stand it, and it's on at work all the time :rage: It's too fast and it just sounds ridiculous.

Another one I can't stand is "It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year," because whenever I hear it in a store I'm always up to my armfuls in aggravating nonsense--it's crowded, I can't find what I'm looking for, I don't feel good, people are pushing around me, and then that song comes on--:rage: So annoying :hmph:

This. I absolutely HATE this song. Let the bloody world feed itself this Christmas and give my ears some peace. It drives me INSANE whenever I hear this, and its on every freakin' year. Repeatedly. Everywhere.

Otherwise, I have a fairly high tolerance for Christmas songs...provided people aren't always singing them off-key around me.

WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK?! :rage: I hate this fucking song. It's annoying as fuck. If I have to hear "pa rum pum pum pum" one more fucking time, I'm going to shoot someone in the fucking face. I couldn't give two shits if it killed them or not. As long as my fucking gun, shot them in the fucking face, I couldn't give a shit. I would walk away happy knowing that I caused someone the amount of pain that my fucking ears go through every fucking time that song plays in my vicinity. :hmph:

Yeap, me too. Worst Christmas song ever. While I can assure you, Darquewillow, that you most likely will hear those words a time or two more before you die, I hope you don't, for the sake of others.. :tehe:


No, that song is both boring and irritating at the same time, and it doesn't make me feel Christmasy at all. I hate it.
 
Blue Christmas. Any version of this song...I just don't like it. Dammit, Christmas is supposed to be happy/joyful...not this.

Happy Christmas/War is Over. To clarify; I love Tarja's cover, and the metal cover by Tommy Shaw is..eh okay. I despise the Lennon/Ono cover. Lennon's got an okay voice on this one, but Yoko Ono just murders the whole thing.


To add my feedback on Little Drummer Boy; I like that one. It's not my favorite, but I don't hate it. That said; the absolute best version (and one of my favorites) is the Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth duet by Bing Crosby and David Bowie.
 
That Billy Mack " Love is all around - Wet Wet Wet " Cover from around 2004.. he changed the title to " Christmas is all around " and murdered the lyrics

and so the feeling grows

I don't like most of Christmas songs but there is one I particularly hate; Christmas Wrapping. This is a song originally from the 80's but the fu***ng spice girls made an awful cover of the awful original:

I have a distaste for almost all Christmas songs with the exception of anything Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, or Judy Garland. The song I hate the most is "Grandma got run over by a reindeer." *shudders* Ohhh the cheap humor of it is sooooo grating on my ears.

As for Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer; that song works best when done metal-style. The "Metal Xmas" CD has inherently the right amount of laughability to it that a song like Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer just fits.
 
I love this thread. The majority of Christmas songs set my teeth on edge. I particularly loathe "Last Christmas" and "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday" Awful songs. Particularly when every single shop is playing them on loop D=<

As soon as this song comes on though, I just get annoyed. I love it in the context of the film, but, in a shop, or on the radio, it's just... awful.

 
I hate Whitney Houston's version of Do you Hear what I Hear. She butchered a beautiful melody :( For that matter, I typically hate renditions of Christmas songs, particularly those who's original melodies were wonderful.

Because "Brown paper packages tied up with string" and "Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes" totally qualify it as a holiday song :)

In all seriousness; I don't hate the song, but it does throw me for a bit of a loop when I hear it at this time of year.

EDIT: Apparently Lady Gaga's gotten back into the Christmas music scene with some covers.

*sigh*

I knew there was a reason I preferred Perry Como and Johnny Mathis at this time of year.

Now I kinda wish there was a thread around for the best Christmas songs.
 
Last Christmas by Wham is awful and a couple of years back a colleague of mine burned it onto a CD 19 times and that was all that we listened to for the entire month of December. For that entire month I went to work every day wanting to murder someone...

Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea also really ticks me off.
 

I know a lot of people love this song, but I can't stand it anymore. It's overplayed, overhyped and just overly stupid. I'd rather not listen to this ever again. I did used to like this, but it's gotten annoying to even have to listen to this stupid thing every year. If there was a bit of variety of Christmas songs each year, maybe I wouldn't mind this as much. But playng it ALL the time? No, thanks.
 
At my old workplace it was just constant Christmas CD's one after the other from the 1st of December through to the 31st.

At my new workplace it's only the occassional Christmas song and they aren't terrible either thankfully.

I really can't stand the depressing 60's Christmas songs. Their voices are just so dull and nearly put you to sleep! They create a terrible atmosphere. They sound as though someone just died.

Describe "Depressing 60's Christmas songs"? I mean, I'm no fan of "Blue Christmas" (not even when Johnny Mathis does it) and Judy Garland's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" (Which I don't believe is 60's) is over the top depressing, but I'm not sure I can think of much more than that.
