Most people who have beaten FFX will remember that infamous laughing scene between Yuna and Tidus at Luca. And most people remember it while cringing or a face-palming.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I was also face-palming at how awkward, cheesy and forced the scene was, however a lot of people seem to chalk the scene's ugh-factor up to the voice acting. True there needed to be voices to hear the laughing, but...

THE SCENE WAS SUPPOSE TO BE FORCED.

Yeah I was face-palming, but I was also giggling at just how sweet it was too. Tidus was just trying to cheer Yuna up, and Yuna herself joined in because she appreciated the effort. Did anyone honestly believing that was their natural laughing? The fists to hips stance didn't tip anyone off? And did everyone miss the natural laughter right after?

I always found the scene to be one of the key points in Yuna and Tidus' relationship, and I kind of laugh myself that most people just wanna forget it xD

It still doesn't justify why the voice acting was so shitty. :mokken:

There are no excuses for that. It's a bad scene. :mokken:

I agree. It was an "ugh" worthy scene, but it's supposed to be forced. It was cute and sweet.

I once said that this was my favorite scene in X. It really is.

I never really expected it but it was funny. Especially when Lulu said, "I thought you guys had gone crazy."

It was a good mix to a rather serious storyline. "Hahahahahaaaaa..."

It was still nevertheless a cringeworthy scene that brought out the worst of FFX's voice-acting. I never liked Tidus's and Yuna's voice actors anyway, and the laughing scene was just horrible to listen to for me. :wacky:

But to be fair to Squaresoft, this was their first time using voice-acting in a game, so FFX's cast was never as good as FFXII's. And it wasn't all bad either. I thought much of FFX's cast had decent voices.

It was one of those awkward moments when you just turn down the volume and hope no one walks in on you playing through that part. The feeling it gave me is akin to sitting through a lengthy sex scene in a movie with your mother in the same room.

Lmao, agreed. It was really jus-- awkward. But the meaning behind it was still cute.

I'll admit I wasn't a fan of the scene either :/ I understood the intentions behind it, but I didn't feel that it was very well-delivered. If they could've scripted it a bit differently and still had a scene that served the same purpose, but wasn't awkwardly acted out, then I think it would've been a lot better :hmmm:

This scene was annoying and dumb. It was unneeded. It could've been a tiny forced chuckle not what they gave us.

I remember that scene. I actually laughed. And so did my mom from about 2 rooms away (I had the volume on high). Wasn't what I expected but everything needs something stupid in it from time to time. Other than that, its not really an issue to me.

My mother didn't laugh and neither did I. She walked in and gave me a look like I had just switched over from some freaky fetish porn and I gave her a look of utter bemusement. Nevertheless, I lowered the volume for every cutscene that seemed remotely intimate between the two from then on.

That bad? :hmmm:

I never thought it was THAT bad. I'd just mute it and whatnot. But honestly, I think it's all bad acting in that game. I mean, talk about lack of emotion.

The first time I saw the scene, I had the volume muted anyway because I hated the voice acting. :lew:

I did watch the scene on youtube though and while I understand it was supposed to be forced, it was still unbelievably bad. Tidus and Yuna both had awful voice actors anyway and that scene certainly didn't help.

I thought the scene was wtf worthy, but in a good way. Really don't understand why everybody keeps saying the voice acting was shit because I thought everybody did a good job on the voice acting.

Same here. I really liked FFX's voice acting, and I think it's definitely one of the better English voiced games. I don't get where all this hate is coming for it :hmmm:

But to all who do actually dislike the voice acting, is that actually the main reason why there's such a strong dislike for this scene? What if they voices were great in your opinions, would that make it easier to accept for it's plot value?

I can understand not liking Yuna's English Voice for how she trailed off at random points but I don't see what was wrong with any of the other voices. And now that I know how hard Voice Acting is period I can appreciate their performance even more.

Especially because it was the first voice acted FF, i think it was good for the most part.
I didn't like Tidus' voice at all, i have no problem with him being all upbeat and positive but he just sounded silly, and Yuna was a bit corny sometimes, but i think Auron's voice was awesome, along with Cid and Brother!

The scene was cheesy beyond belief. And we're supposed to take this as Tidus and Yuna bonding. I just didn't buy it. And the voice acting was just terrible. I mean, listen to Tidus laughing with Kefka's music in the background.
