Anime One Piece???

Anyoen what? Be nice if you added more to get a discussion going ...

Personally I cant stand it. Its one of the most annoying anime and mangas ever written. So annoying.

I like One Piece :D. The Japanese version, the English Dub is terrible!

My favorite characters are Luffy and Nami. I like Luffy because he always cracks me up and I like Nami because she can be a bad ass with out being the stereotypical badass female character.

*cmon guys, its not the best anime but its not that bad,I like ONe piece even though the drawings stink sometimes :)

*but the fight scenes are really intense and the women are hot with their big boobies :D

*i presonnaly like the adventure and how the crew got together, its funny how their differences get in the way of their adventure :)

*this is what "simplicity is the best" means, simple animation, simple plots and makes a good anime :)

Actually, Leki doens't like this much.... just certain ones. I really like Zolo and Sanji, though.... Nami is alright, as well as Chopper and Robin. But that long nosed guy is ANNOYING.

Not my favorite by any means, but it does have its moments.

I kinda like the manga. Nico Robin and Chopper are funny almost all the time.

It's not my favorite, but i like it and read it as much as i can.

I have to disagree.

One Piece is extremely repetitive and mind numbing, though it does have some pretty funny shit in it every now and then.

One Piece

Discuss here about the anime and the manga here.

So is there anybody here besides me that likes One Piece? I watch the subbed eps and read the manga whenever a new chapter and/or ep is out.

I just saw ep 377 a few ago - its was pretty damned awesome since it had the Zoro v Kuma fight. Kuma's pretty badass in the way that he anhillated most of the Strawhats in that ep.

Also in the manga, at the Shabondy Island - the entire crew gets utterly defeated by Kuma again and also Kizaru. I can't wait to show that bit get animated. XD

Loving the newest manga arc - Amazon Lilly - too. There is a strong possibilty of getting his ninth crewmember, Maragaret at the end of this arc. Also there is a chance that the main villain of this arc, Boa Hacock cold well Luffy's mum too.

I only say that cuz Luffy's to recognise something on Boa's back. It could maybe a childhood memory perhaps? I dunno. But also its been stated in the manga, that both Luffy and Boa share the same type of Haki too.

I'll go ahead and merge the two threads together.

-Threads Merged-

i think one piece is good, there are however some storylines that drag out waay to long. Luffy is hilarious and whenever i see ussops nose i always manage a laugh. Nami is the one character i dislike....always shouting and contradicting herself...so annoying.

One Piece is an anime that takes a couple of episodes to get into. It's not something that you can turn on and just watch because you'll be like "WTF?"

But I personally think it is one of the best anime's out there. The story and characters are very creative. I often find myself liking and hating some characters at the same time.

Every character is developed very well, including Chopper, who is a reindeer. And the straw hat crew has great chemistry.

The story can also be incredibly wacky and then become completely serious with out being awkward.

If you have the patience, One Piece is a great anime. And I am happy that funimation redubbed it because the 4kids version was just awful.

I hate it, I can't really take it seriously at all. the art everything even story sucks/:

I actually can't stand the show. It's art style is odd to look at. The proportions are wayy out of whack, and none of them look like humans. I know it's really popular, but I just do not know why.

Just because of the art I can't take it seriously. I used to watch a few episodes here and there but I just always thought it was a comedy. And I never understood if it was serious or just for laughs.

But when I thought it was just a comedy I actually liked the show. After finding out that it was supposed to be serious in some ways, I just was really lost and ended up disliking the show a lot.

I don't really know if it even has a storyline... but then again, I could be biased because there aren't any hot dudes in the show(GO BLEACH).

I have to disagree.

One Piece is extremely repetitive and mind numbing, though it does have some pretty funny shit in it every now and then.
Like what this person said.

YES. :D

Funi's was alright, but the 4kids version... :ffs: And some of the opening songs were meh as well, so I like the Japanese version the most overall. Kickass music and drama.

Yeah, but the funny shit always happens, in every chapter and episode. That's why I watch/read it.

SPOILERS! :gasp:

I hate Kizaru and his smug mug. Why'd Kuma change? D:

Yeah, the Skypiea arc I really hate, and the Thriller Bark too. They were too long.

YES. The history behind the SHs really was emotional at times, the fight sequences were amazing, the funny scenes can make you laugh. Hard.

Like what this person said.

I have a friend who doesn't like it because of the art style, so, I understand you said.

I can go on and on about characters and other stuff, but that'll take ages, so, in summary, give One Piece a try. One of the best manga/anime ever. And the characters are well developed, the scenery and GFX are awesome. You never know if you'll be hooked. :D

I havent watched one piece since it was on toonami on cartoon network
I watched it since the first episode on 4kids, but i liked the other one better.
Zolo (or Zoro, could never figure it out) was one of my faves
Luffy reminded me a lot of Sora, I had a debate one day with a friend that luffy is really Sora in the future.
GUM! GUM! PUNCH!

The art style does take a while to really get used to, but once you do it's well worth it. Personally; of the big three SJ series, I think it's now the best of them. Naruto's just...agh. The author's lost track of whatever he started. Bleach is starting to drag a bit and Kubo can't draw backgrounds worth crap.

By contrast; One Piece hasn't tried to take itself too seriously in the right areas, and the author's deliberately set the thing up in a world where rambling adventures can happen without feeling, well, rambling.

East Blue - I like how the entire main cast didn't just spring up right away. We got something of a core crew forming, but it wasn't all within a short while. Also; I liked that Chapter 100 was the sendoff.
Baroque Works - Still one of the best parts of the series overall.
Skypeia - Okay..WHY?! It had its campy/fun moments like the rest, but it just felt badly disconnected.
Water Seven - See Baroque Works
Thriller Bark - Another "Out there" segment like Skypeia, but at least this one had more direct ties to the rest of the story.
Sabaody Archipelago - Would be on par with East Blue and the like, but in a pirate world; fishmen and armored warlords are easier to deal with than aristocrats in space suits.
Impel Down - See Water Seven. Also; Iva-chan must be voiced by Tim Curry when dubbed.

i like One Piece...i just find fighting there a bit odd, but then thats how anime works

Just curious; what about the fighting in it is odd? o_O

Anyway, been marathoning OP lately with people from /a/ and a few other friends. We're through Baroque Works and last I saw; nearly done Skypeia. Enel still bothers me :(

And yet, the Luffy vs. Bellamy fight is far more awesome than I remember it being.

ONE PUNCH.

I really don't get how people calls One Piece repetitive. o_O It really has no repetition, whatsoever.

I have to admit that I was one of the people who'd say I hate One Piece I just can't stand it, but after ACTUALLY watching it, not watching random episodes here and there but actually following the story, it got extremely interesting, I'd go as far as to call the BEST anime out there.

Bleach is extremely shit now, what the hell is up with the manga now? It's really missed up, it's obvious that the author is just trying to drag on with it, it lost whatever meaning it had.

That >_> I mean they are in a pirate era, Devil fruits, etc etc. The only thing that wouldn't feel odd is fighting. >_>

The characters of One Piece are all well developed, all of the character got their nice share of screen time. Though, I have to say The war on the summit arc, Luffy got more than the rest but it's only logical.

Hilarity and Action, One Piece got the both for me. My favorite anime I would have to say now.

The only part of it that repeats is that Luffy's usually the one to take down the "final boss", but if that were a case for criticism of repetition, might as well slam all shonen anime :p

This was me a year and a half/two years ago. I could barely get past the first fight with Buggy, and later on when someone on an old forum I visited insisted that Enel was the most amazing character of all time, I went and did a lookup on the guy and well...edged further away from the series.

Then I gave it my third (or fourth or fifth?) attempt at reading, got up to Arlong Park and HOLYSHITEVERYTHINGWENTUPHILLFROMTHERE.

Bleach is extremely shit now, what the hell is up with the manga now? It's really missed up, it's obvious that the author is just trying to drag on with it, it lost whatever meaning it had.
It was mediocre/bad when I made that last post. It hit utter shit level when Aizen started having more transformations than Frieza and Cell combined.

That >_> I mean they are in a pirate era, Devil fruits, etc etc. The only thing that wouldn't feel odd is fighting. >_>
Looking at it that way; I can see how one might find the fighting odd. I mean, out of all the pirates that've shown up thus far, not many of the characters beyond Navy rank and file have actually used basic swords/guns in fights. In fact I think Blackbeard's crew is the only group that all pulled and used pirate-era guns in a fight, and even then that was only the tail end of a single fight. Beyond that, everyone uses some weirdly unorthodox fighting style.

The characters of One Piece are all well developed, all of the character got their nice share of screen time.
This. Everyone in the crew's gotten a flashback/background (I find it especially fascinating that Luffy was the LAST of them to have such a flashback) and Oda just about never seems to forget characters (seriously, the number of times Makino, Buggy, Kaya, and all the other early-arc characters pop up, to say nothing of the occasional "what's going on in Alabasta" moment is amazing).

In fact, I think the only detail Oda's since completely ignored/faded out on is the fact that none of the crew has the X-mark on their left forearms anymore.
