Suggest me some good horror movies

So, I've been bothering Hal for a while with good horror movies. I really wanna watch some good movies, along the lines of...

The Descent, White Noise, Martyrs, 28 Days Later, Hard Candy (not really that horror either but good) .Rec, Catacombs (not really that Horrory but a good movie none the less) I don't want it to be some Sci-fi or crap with werewolves, I just want a good scary movie. :sad2:

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Um. I would suggest Creep, which is quite scary. Also the original Omen has its moments. Some of the Nightmare on Elm Street stuff is great.

The Thing, Diabolique, Let The Right One In(even though not really horror), Rosemary's baby, The Exorcist, The Shining, and Psycho.

Try Pet Sematary (spelt wrong intentionally). A bit of an oldie but wonderfully paced and great suspense as you would expect from Stephen King. There's the obvious 28 weeks later you could go for, but the sequel isn't quite as good as the original. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is also a good watch. As is the Sixth Sense, but that's not really too similar to those you mentioned.

The Ring's good too, try the Japanese version though.

The Japenese Grudge films are excellent too, speaking of them. They're worth your time. Very creepy and tense.

I'm definitely gonna try out Creep. :hmmm: Nightmare on Elm Street I've seen parts of, maybe I should give it a proper chance, The Omen is one I have seen however, good movie. :ryan: Thanks!

See a few of those, it's been ages since I've watched The Exorcist. Scary ass movie... -.- It's kinda like Poltergeist, really disturbing as well. :gasp: There was another one...

The other movie was The Entity. That movie is disturbing as hell. =/

:ohoho: The Pet Sematary. That movie is awesome. I've seen it a billion times. <3 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre wasn't that great in my opinion, I felt like the retards kept running around, although it did make me jump. xD Sixth Sense... With what's his face again... xDD Bruce Willis. It's a decent movie, but not my thing. xD

Japanese version of the Ring however... huh... :hmmm:

The original (Japanese) Ring films are good, but I will point out that Ringu 0 is more psycho-drama than actual horror, and Rasen's more trippy than anything. Ringu is scary, and in an odd way; I found Ringu 2 to be scarier.

While on that vein; I will add that the US remake of The Ring wasn't bad either. (Avoid Ring 2 though.)

Also; I'll recommend Hellraiser. Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 was a great one and definitely a stomach-churner, but the first Hellraiser is more firmly rooted in horror. Hellraiser III-VIII get predictable (and in the case of Hellworld; laughable).

OH

OH OH OH.

CANDYMAN.

If you want something that is genuinely scary and quite unlike a lot of the other horror film franchises; watch Candyman.


And to go slightly outside the movie realm and into horror anime; watch Higurashi late at night and the shrill laughter of schoolgirls will become one of the more unnerving sounds in your life :)
 
Don't listen to deyarmuund, Nightmare on Elm Street is incredibly dated.
Pan's Labyrinth, Don't Look Now, The Vanishing the original not the remake and the Descent for something more recent.
 
Well scary movie arent normally my thing but do kno a couple of them for instance theirs Gothika although more sci-fi so no deal lol. Oh but theirs Children of the Corn the old ones though not the more recent XD.
Then theirs also Orphan which was feakin creepy and if you like it you should watch The good son creepy Macauly culkin and a young Elijah wood lol.
Sorority row is also good if you like good old fashion totally out their killings and it was almost sort of a comedy in some parts lol. OhOhOh one of my all time favorite scary movies is Terror Train mainly b/c its a scary movie with Jamie Lee Curtis that doesnt involve halloween although if ou havent seen those im sure youd like them XD.
Quarentine is also a great great movie in my opinion it kinda has the Blair witch feel yet it reminded me of The Decent witch is also one of my big favs lol.]
And the last movie i can think of is The Strangers(2008) its also pretty good if your just in the mood to be freaked out lol. Have Fun looking fo a good movie :x3:
 
Some of Stephen King's originals still hold up after years and years:

- Salem's Lot (my favorite)
- The Shining
- Christine
- Carrie

Exorcist is a must.

Alien - maybe more thought of as Sci-Fi but is really a sci-fi themed horror flick.

The original installments of Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th and Halloween were all very good. Their names were simply tarnished by greed (i.e. gratuitous sequels).

The Uninvited
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
The Others

I have to catch up on my Vincent Price stuff as well - I always have the Dr Phibes series recommended to me.
 
Nightmare on Elm Street was good back in the day. Id say defo go for the Japanese Grudge and Ring series as they are scary as fook. Unlike the shitty American remakes. Also The Crazies, Candyman, The Thing (love that film), George A Romeo zombie films.
 
Silence of the lambs - The only Hannibal movie I truly cared for.

The Strangers - People are really hit or miss about this movie. In the movie theater I thought it was pretty good, due to the fact if you put yourself inside those people.. then it would be hella scary situation. Don't mind Liv Tyler, most people are really hit or miss about her.

The Shining - I'm not sure if it was truly a horror, but it gave folks bad dreams with the two twins and such.

Poltergeist - Some people are hit or miss about this, but generally a good movie though. To me I didn't think it was scary till around half way through.

Room 1408 - Great movie in my opinion. Keeps you guessing and of course you need surround sound for this flick.

28 weeks later is a better film imo. Just to put that out there :andry:

Thats all il recomend tbh. Its a bit dated and such and i guess you need a certain taste. Actually you maybe need to lack some taste to enjoy watching it but i think its great :wacky: And its a good horror.

You know what - I just remembered that I actually liked Silent Hill. Never played the game - really dug the movie. Especially the music.

Another good one is Session 9; it's based in an abandoned mental institution which kinda hit home because I used to live near one and my area of the world seems to have some of the worst on record.
