Those kind of websites just give recommendations going off what else the fans listen to. Lady Sovereign is probably fairly popular right now because she's in the new series of Big Bruvva.

I pretty much didn't know who she was until she went on Celebrity Big Brother last night. But even with the small snippet of what she sounded like, there's no comparison between her and Muse. Their styles are entirely different to each other.
The similar artists section is to give listeners some other recommendations that are simliar to the artist youve chosen. Muse gives you Ash, Razorlight, Elbow, Suede, etc. I cant imagine someone listening to Jay Z and then chosing Muse. If they do coolio, but hope chavs arent getting into them :/

Theyre more similar then Jay Z, Kayne West and The Streets lol. Im just giving the names Spotify gave as similar artists to Muse.
I'd happily listen to Jay Z followed by Muse tbh. But my music taste is rather varied. I could listen to Meat Loaf and then Tupac straight after, or Eminem, followed by Bon Jovi etc. etc.
Whatdya mean about chavs getting into them though? Are certain stereotyped individuals not allowed to like a band because of the label they've been given? Or would it just make Muse less cool?
Actually, speaking of Muse, how come everybody suddenly loves them? They've been about for years and I never really heard or seen that much of them until these past few months. xD Knew of them, but yanno.

Ive been a fan of Muse for the last 10 years lol. Yeah people have suddnely jumped on the bandwagon. Ive been sterotyped so many fucking times by chavs Id probably have a huge bank balance for each time I was labeled a mosher, emo, goth, etc by them. Im just not keen on a chav churring out Supermassive Blackhole or Bliss. Oh if they sung Bliss Id punch them happily.

Also, their fifth album was released and they toured the UK for the first time since the Absolution tour in 2003/4. And the inclusion of Supermassive Black Hole on the Twilight sound track has apparently given them a lot of popularity.
Just reply by dressing like Tim Westwood.

Last.fm's similar artist tags are much more accurate. Franz Ferdinand, Placebo, Radiohead, Kasabian and The Killers among others.
While they don't sound exactly like those bands they're in the same sort of thing together, and a lot of the fans of Muse will probably like at least one of those bands.
Being put with Lady Sovereign is quite crazy.. Though I don't know who she is so I can't say much. I don't know how similar artist tagging works on Spotify though, so it might just be that people who listened to Muse have just happened to listen to her too. I guess it becomes more dangerous as a band gets more popular for something like this to happen.

Spotify's will work in the same way, or something close to it.
And to be honest there's only Radiohead and to some extent Placebo who sound remotely like Muse on Last.FM's list.
