What are some of your favourite soundtracks when it comes to the world of Final Fantasy XIV?

Please take note that this thread may contain spoilers.

For meee... It has to be Lotus (Alexander boss music) just when it comes in at certain parts it's super badass. :lew:

Pharos Sirius has always been one of my top favourites, though.

Sorry, Stormblood. Haven't played any of your content and I've only comparatively heard a few of your tracks. By comparison, Heavensward's soundtrack remains something I will still casually listen even when I'm bedridden and in my 80s.

The Weeping City of Mhach Battle Theme - I would be remiss to neglect mentioning the little bits of FFIX's battle theme in there, probably because Ozma is in this raid as the slayer of many parties. And for a raid that when it was still relatively new did actually kill a lot of parties that weren't paying sufficient attention, this track is surprisingly chill. You're not greeted with instant pensive tension at the outset...at least not until some of the bosses do a number on entire alliances.

The Fractal Continuum (Unbreakable) - Dear Duty Roulette: you jackshits, you always used to give me Never-bloody-reap and Aetherochemical Research Facility when I genuinely wanted the Fractal Continuum instead. This is hands-down the best dungeon theme in FFXIV bar none besides Pharos Sirius.

Thordan Theme (Heroes) - Well, if I have to choose one Primal theme to feature...

Ultima Theme - Okay, if I have to choose two Primal themes to feature, Ultima's theme absolutely deserves a mention. I think this one in particular resonates with me far more than any other Primal theme because it was the first EX Primal...ish fight we ever took on as a FC/FFF community - it was the fight where we cleared with just one more minute remaining on the clock. That was easily one of my best experiences with the game.

Nidhogg/The Final Steps of Faith - Okay, if I have to choose THREE Primal themes to feature, I'm ending on Nidhogg's. What is there to be said about Nidhogg's multi-phase theme that more eloquent fans haven't yet covered? This track starts off aptly with Dragonsong as the initial emotional gut punch of mourning and regret that this senseless, avoidable war couldn't be settled without one last show of bloodshed, then just ramps everything up as the fight progresses and Nidhogg's methods grow more desperate and terrifying. That final third of the track is absolute perfection to cap this all off with. This is GOAT.

my favourite XIV tracks are from my top favourite dungeons actually

I don't think any dungeon can beat Saint Mocianne's Arboretum tbh, everything about this place is amazing :lew:

my second favourite dungeon and track is The Lost City of Amdapor (Hard), not normal, normal SUCKS
I love this place, even the boss fights are fun :)

Despite progressing through the game somewhat, I still find that my favourite tracks come from A Realm Reborn with some stand out pieces from Heavensward.

#1: On Westerly Winds ♥

#2: Fealty

#3: Night In The Brume

When gathering in Raincatcher Gully I'm still transfixed when On Westerly Winds rises from the ambient background sound effects and begins to play and both Fealty and Night In The Brume remain as my strongest reasons for preferring the colder climes of Eorzea ♥

Man, there are so many great tracks! Though with that said, the orchestral version of Oblivion is simply... amazing. I paid the 3 dollars or whatever and bought the housing item from the Mogstation just so I could play it. Easily my favourite track.

Also I have a new love for this. It's the track that plays at the end of Ultimate Coil of Bahamut. Like 17 minutes into the fight. Just so satisfying, haha.

It has to be these atm

I probably missed a few I really like because I absolutely adore the OST of FFXIV and well FF in general so I could be going on forever picking out themes,

Swallow's compass is a nice fast dungeon and I love the calm theme to it. It symbolizes what the dungeon is about very well.

Tsukuyomi's theme is really really epic. I absolutely love it and the way it transitions into final phase is genius if you know what the character was about.

Sophia is one of my old favourites. Beautiful song and the voice of the singer is soothing,

Dragonsong.... well it's absolutely beautiful. There's not much else to say.

Dancing Mad is probably the best boss theme ever made in Final Fantasy but I feel the XIV version is a little weaker. It's still very good though.

My favourite has been the same since I first heard it, the kick in after she casts Diamond Dust, that theme is just oh so good!! And is usually playing in my house as well.

That Oblivion Orchestral is win.

I have it playing on YouTube all the time. :lew:

I've only just started Heavensward but I am loving the music so far.

I will definitely add the following to my favourite FFXIV tracks:
All of Ishgard's themes are very emotional, and I'm beginning to understand why.

Man, those bagpipes hit me with emotion, forcing me to contemplate for a while yet also inspiring me onwards.

This theme truly fits a fantastical homeland of dragons and a golden age long forgotten...

But all of that aside, FFXIV has always had amazing music in certain parts. Gridania's music certainly puts out the idea of a mysterious city deep in the woods, with the music being very reminiscent of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Back to the emotional side, Ul'dah's night theme (Sultana Dreaming) does stop me in my tracks. Probably in no small part due to the fact that when I got the call that my best friend had died several years ago, this was the theme I found playing when I returned to log off the game and go off to break the news to other friends (one of the hardest things I've ever had to do). It took me a while to allow myself to go back, but the track is beautiful and I am able to enjoy it again.

I also feel there has been some inspiration from Queen's We Are The Champions in the Ul'dah themes. It's only small, but I definitely hear a part of that in the melody, and given that the city is obsessed with gladiatorial combat, it is quite fitting.

Then, of course, I love the craziness of Good King Moggle Mog's theme! They've clearly taken inspiration from Nightmare Before Christmas (one of my favourite movies), but I love the idea of naughty moogles singing as they jovially attempt to kill you.

And all of that is to say nothing about the amazing ballads of Susan Calloway! I love all of her tracks.

Top track and it's a bloody crime it's not been mentioned sooner:

Each expansion's boss theme just gets better and better, Stormblood's theme is quite bloody good:

Shadowbringers boss theme:

Soken is an absolute genius.
