Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster - March 18th Countdown and Celebration!

It's easy to make a PS2 game look like a PS3 game. Not so easy to do it with a PSX game.

I saw the same cash cow with the remake of Zelda Windwaker. They upped the resolution and added shaders, made the music nicer and *boom*. Remastered.
There is a reason why they didn't go with Majora's Mask, which was on the 64 and not the GC, and it's called less work, same money flow.

I won't buy it on sheer principle. SE can kiss my ass on this one, to be perfectly honest.

But in the same vain, Majora's Mask was sold on the Virtual Console. Majora's Mask was also ported to Gamecube as part of an Anniversary Title.

They did the same thing with Windwaker.
The point is that they pretend that the intention is to keep an even flow on the games, when it's really just them selling out to make money.
Whatever happened to the virtues of pride and passion for one's works?

It's just absurd to me, but I guess that's my weird catholic speaking. I don't like the idea of being run for my money just so they can continue to do everything I do not want them to do.

Yeah, you're not the only one who sees remakes in that way. I guess I'm a sucker for it because this is the only way I can play the game again without buying a PS2 with FFX, which I'm too lazy to do and I don't like unnecessary clutter. :P

It'd be hard for me to resist FFXII if it was coming out now remastered, so I can understand.

However, when fans buy this stuff, they are are supporting Square Enix's reluctance to do anything with the PSX installments which they need to do before they become ancient history.
They need to stockpile some Redbull and get to it.

I'm peeved that they are making an HD remake of X and not IX.

Common sense say that they would make a remake of the underdog, like how Nintendo did with Windwaker instead of Majora's Mask (though I'm actually quite disappointed it wasn't MM)

Besides the musical score, I don't see much else that is particularly grand about FFX HD. Even if I was among the thousands of big fans of FFX, I wouldn't be spending money to basically get an updated version of a game that already had good visuals and music.

When Square-Enix wants to get off their ass and do something meaningful with their spare time, I will be happy. Remaster an older one, and I will be impressed. I'd even throw money at a remastered VIII even though it's not particularly my favorite.

A remastered FFX is little more then a pet project turned easy cash cow.

I agree with you but it' s not very cost effective to remake any PS1 or older era games as they would have to be complete remakes and Final Fantasy won't be around if it can't do what it's doing right now.

What I meant to say wasn't that they should turn one such as IX into PS3 quality, but rather a late gen PS2.

(I'm assuming that the remastered FFX is going to look like an early gen PS3 game. )

It would require more work in relevance simply because PSX is far less refined in general, but for the little bit of time or money they might lose, their prestige would go way up. It would be epic in every nostalgic and sentimental way to their fans.
But they don't care about that, because they are too busy selling out, and that makes me disappointed because it shows that fans have more passion for their games then they do.

Gotcha.

It will look the way it looks.

The company isn't focusing on that though. They are trying to think long term profitability not what fans want. Which is some what of an oxymoron. I am on the theology that they don't need to remake past games to move forward. But, what is moving forward? That goes off topic of this thread though, which is the release and celebration of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster though I am only celebrating X lol.

I also apologize for missing a change in day announcement as I got tied up.

I will be posting the coming day as well as any other news for the release.

Please feel free to add any information.

Check Steam for remasters of 7 and 8. They're shiny and everything.

It's nearly out people! After all this time, it's nearly out! :ohoho:. I'm one of those sad people who booked time off work just to play it lmao :/

good lad! Isn't it out on a Friday though.. So Friday or fri/mon?

Patience is a virtue :) and what do you mean pay more?

the UK pay more for games and wait longer :mokken:

Yeah the UK generally does but not all the time. I'm staying around this thread until it's release for our European friends. Europe was able to get the original International release of this game though as North America didn't. I'm not sure about Canada or other countries.

It's close enough in time so I will announce.

5...count...5 more days until Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster releases in North America and Canada.

8 more day until it releases in European territories. Don't feel bad Europe. Our coffee sucks compared to yours as well as many other things. Life would suck without Europe.

He does have a point though, we did get the International version when America and Canada didn't. That really did suck for them.

:mokken: coffee sucks, Getting FFX first does not

Blasphemy!
Coffee is the reason World War III has not commenced :wacky:

Anyway, I'm not thrilled at all about FFX-HD, but I think I might have knocked it a little too much on this thread.

After thinking about it, I can see how Square Enix would want to keep it all organized and fluent- PSX games are cleaned up a little bit and put for download, X and XII would be up for remastering and so on.

It just makes the cash cow too visible. For the longest time now, they have taken sweet, sweet time in doing anything special for the fans. They've been doing these mainstream antics forever, and it's diminishing their respectability.

It should arrive on Friday and I don't work weekends, so I've booked the following Mon-Fri off. I couldn't need a break more than I do right now regardless of FFX though, to be honest. Can't wait.

I'll admit though, if this was XII, I would have a trailer camped right out the game store

I remember the release of Black Ops II, when they made the mistake of having the truck deliver the goods on the eve of the release. People went nuts in the parking lot.
SE probably won't see people doing that until they do something epic like remake FFVII.

PS. The remastered OST of X is amazing

Wasnt that down to sensorship though? That's why Australia always gets modified versions of games too right? And we get done over like this for EVERY single game

(Sorry for double post but doing this on phone, condense them if you like)

i think ink mine arrives on like the only weekend that I have plans :sad3:. I didn't have the foresight to book time off and to be honest m not too bothered about that. I've never done that for a game before anyway. My issue will be the temptation of not going straight to bed when I get in and staying up to play it and then forgetting to sleep for work that night heh.
