Remember in Back to the Future 2 when Marty goes to the future and gets those self lacing shoes? Someone is actually developing them right now. They have their second prototype out with out the bulky attachments.

This was posted to my facebook.

Now I want hover boards

It's very cool and all that but... why? I know our technology is advancing at a high rate but we don't need to try and put it in everything. Tying your shoe laces isn't exactly an inconvenience. Seems like a lot of effort for a problem that doesn't exist. And if they're any more expensive than normal shoes... :lew:

I still think they look awesome though and I'd be pleased if I got a pair. :mokken:

Technology will end up making a community of lazy bastards out of the human race. Seriously, how difficult can it be to tie your shoe laces?

(People, don't answer the question) :hmph:
What's next? The toilet will clean your ass so that you no longer need to pick a piece of wrapped toilet paper and....you know. :wacky:

Oh, or maybe an automatic toothbrusher, you stand in the mirror and technology does everything for you.

Seriously. I know it's nice to have all this automated stuff, but do we really need them? No, there are a bunch of other problems that need to be addressed.

I wouldn't mind the hover boards though... :wacky:
I still want a DeLorean :hmph:

I agree that for most people, tying shoes is not a big deal. But think about people that do not have full functioning of their hands or who have back problems and cannot bend forward. (People who have had back surgery or a posterior hip replacement cannot bend past ninety degrees.) For someone with hand deformities, amputations, or arthritis, tying shoes can be very difficult. They could ask for help from someone else, but if they are home alone, another person will not be available.

That is true I suppose. But they would still need to put socks on so hopefully they'll invent them as well. :lew:

Lol they do have something called a sock aid. It's usually for people with hip and back problems.

This is a more fancier one. The ones I use at work are on two ropes that the person swings down to their feet.

lol it's not as technologically advanced as the shoe.

Haha that looked cool, though I don't think it's the best idea.

The people of the world will all be like those in that movie 'Idiocracy' before you know it. XD

We'll all get lazy and dependent on this sort of thing and then all the smart people will die and then we'll feed the grass gatorade because everyone knows that plants crave electrolytes. XD

That's really cool and I guess could even be useful for people who have difficulty tying their laces.

My main question would be how would you get them off? If it is on a sensor which detects your foot and then squeezes, then how would you tell it that you want to get your foot out? :O

I'm wondering about that too. That's a bit scary :gonk:

LOL, I can tell I'd go crazy with both of these things if I had to use them, I'm so picky about the tightness of my shoes and socks :lew: I can see where it would be very useful though, if people couldn't reach them. Taking the socks off doesn't look all that easy though, having to put the stick on the floor and hold it with your foot would get annoying and tricky after a while I think :hmmm:

Has anything else ever came of these? Anyway, tying shoelaces is very boring. I just slip my shoes off when I get home. So I tie my shoelaces like, once a year. These would be very very cool. I know for sure that little kids and my mom would love them. As would I. It's not something that's must have, but it's pretty damn cool.

I agree.

If you are a person who doesn't like tediously tying your shoes daily and just slips shoes on and off, then this would be very cool to have.
