Have become extremely emotionally attached to the characters and the storyline

I'm confused! Why would anyone want the sad ending?? Lol I am playing to see Yuna bring Tidus back! Otherwise its kind of a boring game and I probably wouldn't play it. I hope I didn't offend anyone. If so, sorry.

So, what do I have to do to get the ending I am yearning for?

Some people think that it's more realistic. I don't like it though, this is fantasy - it's not exactly realistic that he was a dream in the first place.

I'll make this vague so as not to spoil anything. Basically, everytime you hear a whistle in the game press x. Every single time. Including at the end. That will get you the ending you saw on youtube. It's impossible to get the perfect ending on the first playthrough as you can't get 100% which you need to get it, but basically in order to get it you must have done absolutely everything in the game that there is to do, every side quest to the fullest basically. Like I said though, it's impossible the first time. On your second playthrough do everything you didn't do on your first go, if you had to choose between two things choose the other one this time around, and it should reach 100%.

* There's the Good Ending (which you already saw. To achieve this ending you must fulfill all the requirements and press X after the final battle while walking through the Farplane to hear the whistle. You will then be asked question by the Fayth of Bahamut. If you chose the positive answer, wait until after the credits to get the Good Ending)
Ahh, this answers my question. So, what are these requirements you speak of?

EDIT: Sheechiibii answered my question. Thanks Sheechiibii!

* And finally there's the Perfect Ending (which is achieved by completing the game 100%. It comes right after the Good Ending scene. So if you get 100% completion you will get this sequence: Normal Ending, Credits, Good Ending, Perfect Ending. Just warning you: even with a strategy guide you are not likely to get the Perfect Ending on your first playthrough. It took me three playthroughs to get 100%. For others it will take two playthroughs.)
Guess I'm gonna have to play it again, huh?! Thanks lol

And sorry to hear you spoiled the experience of the ending of X by looking it up. I didn't seem to have that problem when I played. I looked up what happened at the end of the game, and I knew it was coming, yet I stilled cried like a baby. lol
I did too! I just feel it could have been a better experience! I could have felt it more emotionally. I now feel like something is missing that I can never get back <Sniffle sniffle>

Just don't look up the other endings of X-2 until you play through it. If you don't feel like playing through a second time you can look up the Perfect Ending online. You wouldn't be the first one to do that. lol. Besides, you're not missing much with the Perfect Ending. The Good Ending should be referred to as the Perfect Ending in my opinion.
As long as I see Tidus and Yuna embrace eachother... Everything will be ok "AGAIN" lol

It seems a bit too easy! Im already at the end of chapter 1.

Also, I have a question; In the very beginning of the game, before any game play, yuna whistled and I think it was Lulu that came and told her its time to go. She was whistling to the Ocean. Should I have pressed X here? I hope not. I just spent 5 hours playing. I will be so mad if I have to start over lol

EDIT: Found this

HOW TO GET THE GOOD ENDING.
Q. I am too lazy to read the first half of the document, what are the
requirements for getting the good endings?A. Firstly in Chapter 3 you must go to Guadosalam and talk with Maechen. Go there and talk to Logos and Omni, then go talk to LeBlanc, then go back to talk to Logos and Omni. They will tell you to meet them in their room, so go to the secret passageway and you will be shown 2 spheres. After that, walk around the room until you find another sphere which you will be allowed to watch. At this time Maechen will come in and talk briefly. After he is done go talk to him again and he should talk a bit more before leaving. Secondarily, at the end of Chapter 3 (after beating Djose Temple) when Yuna falls into the field of flowers (Farplane Abyss) press 'X' until you hear whistling 4 times. You are suppose to press 'X' once Yuna says "I'm all alone..". Every time you press 'X' there will be a whistle then someone appearing to guide Yuna. When the outline fades press 'X' again. Since there is a time limit for doing it, I recommend tapping 'X' once Yuna says the key line. You know you succeeded if you hear the whistling sound 4 times and you are led up an invisible road that lights up as you walk up it.

amboxer21 That sounds like the scene from the end of FFX. :hmmm:

I swear you're meant to talk to the 'moogle' whilst chasing 'Yuna'.

I worked through the game and didn't get the good ending. :sad3: I've considered trying again, but I have far too many FFs to complete first! :gasp: It would be good to earn that ending one day though. :)

Thanks to this Thread I feel like I have to go replay FFX and X-2!!! But I am in the middle of Tactics! so after that I will be replaying those two! and who knows.. maybe get some good ideas for more comps :hmmm:

I'm pretty sure that only adds to your percentage. I don't think it affects the Good Ending.
amboxer21 As for talking to Meachen in chapter 3, I've never not done that lol it's on a main mission so it's hard to miss. As long as you're going through the game trying to complete everything for the perfect ending and also pressing X whenever Yuna whistles (I'm pretty sure her whisteling in Luca was at the end of FFX) you should be fine ;)

Yeah just the complete opposite lol
Instead of him jumping of the ship and not being able to hold her, she jumps off the ship and she holds him....or they hold eachother.

I am hoping to get the good ending the first time around! Cuz if i dont i am going to have to replay immediately! The game doesn't seem very long though. Now if it took me a week of straight hardcore playing like FFX did and I had to redo the whole game just to get the good ending, I would be both devestated and furious! I mean there's only 5 chapters and I beat chapter one in 5 hours. Some I'm thinking maybe half the game play of FFX?! The sooner I get to see/play the ending the better!

I will play FF9 after this but not like I did 10! I played that like I couldn't get enough! I really couldn't though!! My personal FF fave!

I'm pretty sure that only adds to your percentage. I don't think it affects the Good Ending.

You've got me all nervous and junk! I really want to get this the first time around! I will have to look into this more extensively later on tonight. Thanks @Sheechiibii

I suppose you could get through X-2 in maybe 40 hours or something if only doing the main missions. It's the side missions that really flesh out the game and you'll need to do them if you want to get the perfect ending after the second playthrough. You should take notes of decisions you make this time around so that next time you play the game you remember to choose the other option. It's hard to remember, believe me. I've been stuck on 99% for the last 3 times I played the game and have no idea where the last 1% is :(

Also, sleep in the cabin once every chapter ;) I think the first mission was the shortest...but I can't really remember, most of it is just getting you introduced to the new world of Spira and the gameplay mechanics.

How are you finding it so far?

It's not uncommon to become attached to the characters, especially if the plot is especially fantastic. In the case of this game, the plot is just so, and the characters are going through a true struggle throughout. The ending was, obviously, the most emotional, and you could "feel" the characters' emotions and etc.

I could feel with the characters. Yuna's struggles and discoveries, Tidus's issues, etc. The creators did well to lock in the players' connections with not only the characters "on the surface", but everything they went through and felt.

That's exactly what I planned on doing.

I'll worry about that the second time through.

Thanks for the tip! I will make sure to do so next time. You know, come to think of it... I am only playing to see Yuna and Tidus embrace. Why would I need the perfect ending(100%)? Isn't her bringing him back and them getting back together perfect? Maybe I won't go a second time around. Might just start 9 or 12.

Any particular reason I should sleep in the cabin every once in awhile?

How are you finding it so far?
eh... I mean it's no FFX, that's for sure. I feel it's kind of boring. If not for the ending, I probably wouldn't play it. I basically just hit the x button through the whole entire battle. Whatever battle I am in ATM. It wasn't like that with 10. I actually had to think out my moves most of the time and it made me play. they should have kept the old battle system!

I'll worry about that the second time through.

The thing about X-2, a lot of the sidequests you will need to do twice in different ways, in order to see both the outcomes and get the % both times, so only doing sidequests on your second playthrough is extremely unlikely to get you the 100% without playing a 3rd time.

The perfect ending is just an extra scene with Yuna and Tidus after the good ending. I don't think it's worth it to be completely honest...I did it but I loved X-2 enough that I didn't mind playing it multiple times to get the perfect ending just to see it once. I would advise you not to rush the game, just enjoy it because if you decide not to play it again and have rushed it then you'll have missed out on a fair bit of the game which would be a shame.

If you sleep in the cabin every chapter then you get a scene in chapter 5 :D it adds to the percentage. Little things like that are all over the game, hence why you have to be quite extensive with the sidequests to be able to get 100% in only 2 playthroughs.

I love the battle system in X-2 :D I went into it a whole lot more than just pressing X though, I was swapping through garment grids, learning all the abilities and using them strategically - the battles were one of the things I liked best, that and the amount of exploration in X-2. How do you feel about the story so far? How far along are you now, things start getting interesting pretty fast but it just depends if you like the direction they go in or not. How do you feel about...Yuna?

Yeah, I don't want to do this a third time. This game is so much different than the other FF's! It's hard to explain. I can say that I have greatly enjoyed every FF game I have ever played(10, 7, 12, and 13)! Yeah not many lol but point being; I cannot say the same for this for some reason. This game has a little bit of something you cant put your finger on that just makes it not as interesting.... I maybe even want to say boring. I don't know if i can really say that or not though. I have 30 PS2 games and for some reason, I can't stop playing this(FFX-2) lol Weird huh? Maybe it's the ending thats got me holding on. <Shrugs shoulders>

At this point I don't know if I care if I get the perfect ending. All I "NEED" is the good ending. The one where he comes back and they embrace eachother. That's all I care about ATM! We'll see what happens after I achieve this... And how the rest of the game turns out. Maybe I will love it after all!?

The battle system is kind of confusing! :x3: It's like, where is all this stuff everyone is talking about lol The battles are so fast paced, that I don't have time to be looking for this grid or dress thingy. So, I just use x :P IDK....

How do you feel about the story so far? How far along are you now, things start getting interesting pretty fast but it just depends if you like the direction they go in or not. How do you feel about...Yuna?
The story, is great! I love how the game is all about her, seeking out these clues about Tidus. That leaves her(and me), hoping that they may be together again one day! I'm so sappy and mushy!:inlove: I love this kind of stuff!!

So I am on chapter 2, on level 18, with 17% completed and have 12,249 Gil. I am working on obtaining dress number 3. That blond women stole my sphere. It's actually going really fast... the game that is. I would have thought that I would have completed half of what i actually did.

Yuna.... She is more peppy. That's for sure. ummm..... IDK, I guess I'm indifferent towards the transistion she made. Regaurdless the many opinions on this forum. Maybe she's better this way. She was a little to slow and mellow before. <scratches head> That's a tough one.

I can't say I've played that many myself. X and X-2 were my very first FF games, in fact they were my very first console games at all. I've played all the main titles from VII through to XIII, Dirge of Cerberus and X-2. X is joint favourite for me with VIII and sometimes IX as well, it's hard to pick an absolute favourite out of them. I'd definitely advise you to play one of them next though because they're awesome. If you want sappy romance VIII is certainly the place to go!

X-2 for me is a bit strange...it's like there are heaps of things in the game that I dislike and complain about in my head. Yet I can't put it down and I go back and replay it constantly. It's an addictive game and there's so much to learn about Spira in X-2. I really dislike what they did to Yuna :sad3: I like to imagine that everything that happens in X-2 happens with the Yuna I love from X instead. I love Paine. I think she' amazing and her backstory is so cool. She's definitely my favourite character in X-2.

You should get the good ending, since you know about pressing X and that during the mission in Guadosalam you talk to Meachen. ;) the good ending is sweet, you can always check the perfect ending online afterwards if you want. It probably won't be as disappointing if you haven't spent all that time getting 100% for it lol. Also, there's nothing wrong with going through the game fast, but be careful you don't fall short of the 75% or you'll get the sad ending. I don't know how many sidequests you're doing per chapter but keep that in mind as once you move on to a new chapter you can't always do the sidequests you've missed ;)

As for the battle system...I guess it depends on personal opinion. I didn't really get it the first time through either, I just kept them in their default dresspheres and never bothered with the Grids. I've played it a lot since then though and am much more experienced with the system so experiment a lot more with it and go further with it. It's basically a pretty girly job system.

You said you'd played XIII – well it's not unlike the battle system there, just more complex. You have grids with the jobs there, like in XIII you have that combination of different jobs, ravager, synergist, healer and so on. Only in X-2 you swap the characters one at a time, not as a group, and depending on the grid you have them set on they can get stat boosts during battle by passing a node (like the sphere grid in X) And instead of summons you have Special Dresspheres which I never bothered with much to begin with but are actually awesome! You should set the dressphere change animation to fast so that it doesn't take so long (like with the summons in X how you could cut down the time they took to appear in battle) this will make it much less tiresome swapping dresspheres.

:) Hope that helps. I'm glad you're enjoying X-2 for the most part, it's not a universally liked game.

Just got myself a copy of FF8. I was going to play 9 first but if 9 is really sappy and full of romance like you say, then 8 it is. Sorry @Salmakia, 9 will have to wait lol.

I have a feeling she is evil or a traitor!

Yes, I have played 13. I had a PS3 and bought the game but ended up returning it and grabbing GOW3. Which was awesome btw! My X GF ended up stealing my whole PS3 system though with 2 laptops. B****!!!! So, now I have a PS2 instead. I remember not liking 13 so much.

:) Hope that helps. I'm glad you're enjoying X-2 for the most part, it's not a universally liked game.
I know its not lol I think the people who like it, are the romance lovers[me], devout FFX fans[me again lol] (have to complete the story with X-2[me yet again]), and the select few[quite possibly me in the future].

You got it wrong! 8 is the one that is sappy and full of romance not 9. 9 has romance but 8's main focus is the love story itself.

Yeah, FF8 is supposed to be the romantic one. Oddly, I really didn't see much of that until like...the very end. Idk. FF9 is just plain awesome.

@amboxer21: Try your best to get all the Crimson Spheres and go into the Den of Woe. That's my only advice to you if you wanna see the only extremely interesting thing in the game.

FFVIII was more about the maturation of human emotions with a romance being the vehicle for it; they could have done just as well basing it on the SquallxSeifer rivalry rather than the SquallxRinoa romance.

Now to go back on topic... I hated most of the characters from the moment I met them and some I learned to hate even more as time went on. As it stands with me playing through it for a second time, I can say I can't stand any character except Lulu and Auron. Unfortunately, I hardly ever use Lulu because once I give Yuna two B. Magic Spheres Lulu is almost completely worthless. Play-wise, I can only stand to use Tidus, Auron and Yuna because everyone else is pretty much worthless. Only reason to have Wakka is for aerials. Lulu is outclassed in magic by Yuna who does 1.5x dmg with -ara level spells compared to Lulu's -aja level spells. Rikku became useless as soon as Yuna went into her sectiona nd grabbed steal and use. And Kimahri is...its basically Quina, but not nearly as fun. Storyline was actually decent. Good twists that didn't seem like M. Night Shamallamalan pulled them out of his ass for the express purpose of the game.

...But the Last Airbender was a GENIUS spin on the series- and some of his other films were good too... :awesome:

Anyway, refering back to the first point... I see no wrong in getting emotionally attached to any storyline- isn't that what the idea is?? To link you with the characters?

Anybody who laughs at that isn't very connective....

Only interesting thing in the game?? What about the ending? Isnt that why most people play X-2? Certainly why I am playing!

My opinion has drastically changed since i first made this post! After all there are over 20 FF games for a reason! They have movies based off the game. Come to think of it, I think the FF series has the most expensive game in gaming.... FFVII. A copy of the original FFVII in my local game store that sells vintage games is $70 U.S. dollars. On ebay, its in the hundreds.

You are right too. the games are meant for you to get attached! I guess people that dont play dont understand.

Play FF8 on the pc! There is a pc version. It works just fine(I played it myself a couple times a keep it installed even today)

When Yuna and Tidus kissed for the first time at the Spring, my heart just melted. To this day, Final Fantasy X has been the only game that has managed to fully captivate me in terms of story, gameplay and characters. I was completely drawn to each of the characters, they all had traits and back stories that were amazing. Rikku and her hometown (Al Bhed background); Kimahri and his beef with his fellow Ronsos; Wakka and Lulu with their history with Chappu; Auron and his previous pilgrimage with Braska and Jecht; Seymour and his childhood with this mother/father, every single character had a back story that was emotionally evoking.

Final Fantasy X is truly an amazing game.
