I couldn't find a thread on this.

Character voices can either be a hit or miss. Which ones do you think just did not do a good job with their character? AC and Kingdom Hearts actors count too.

Tidus: The voice annoyed me through out the game and I almost ended up not liking Tidus because of it. It made Tidus more annoying that I think he was supposed to be.

Yuna: I said it in another thread, her VA made her sound like she was going to pass out from talking because she couldn't breath at the same time. And she over did it many times.

Vaan: Voice was just fail. And way to nasally.

Aerith from AC: I just don't think the voice suited her. She sounded too breathy. She needed a stronger voice. Hey Aerith was practically a business woman in Midgar. (She sold flowers)

Cid from AC: When he first showed up, it sounded like he has an Austrailian accent and later, it sounded like a hick who drives a Monster Truck.

Your right, but why did they do so good on the voice acting in XIII?my favorite voice is barett, its funny and Mr.T style.Hes like my favorite good guy. Most voices were epic fail, the best ones were tifa, basch, golbez, exdeath, squall, kefka, vaine.theres so much voices I hate though.

Hope: It doesn't suit him. Really, it doesn't. I would probably have preferred it if he had a kid's voice, really. It sounds like his voice has just cracked, and its aggravating.

Vanille: She can't decide whether she wants to be Australian or American, and its just...annoyingly shrill. It doesn't annoy me as much as some (i.e. Hope) but its still irritating. It makes her sound like a five-year-old half the time.

Vaan: In a world filled with well-spoken individuals who have a wonderfully archaic dialect, we have this. A street rat who talks like a stereotypical chav. Vaan really got on my nerves all throughout FFXII, because he was so out of place. His voice sounded too...modern, I guess.

Kuja: I think this probably more due to his dialogue, but it made him sound as disturbing as he looked before he got the slight makeover in Dissidia. My hatred for Kuja aside, I was expecting something a little more...well, powerful.

I agree. Vaan was so damn chav it hurt to listen to him. There are lots of good voice actors out there and they settle for that ...

Hope doesnt seem to fit or suit his voice. Its a more mature voice then a childs. I can understand some kids mature quicker then others, but Hope sounds like an adult almost.

Yuna: Her voice actor was awful. Her voice just went through me, she just sounded...crap.

That Ondore chap from XII, that really WAS cringeworthy, trying to give characters accents just fails so bad sometimes, same with Cait Sith, just....no. Poor to say the least

There's an Aerith VA somewhere, cant remember what off but she just sounds really nasal and i absolutely hate it. i THINK its one of the KH's but i could be wrong. Either way its bad

In the brief trailor i saw for XIII with Yang and Hope, i HATED their VA's, oddly enough they don't bother me at all now Ive started playing. I thought he sounded too old in the trailer but he sounds fine to me now, Vanilles is abit too much for me too take though.....

I realy want to say Seymour, but aside from his voice irritating me abit, its not actually that bad:hmmm:

Yuna- Hedy Burress....where do I start with you? Firstly, why does the voice sound like it's really weak? Yuna just sounds either really ill or really out of breath. She does try to shout sometimes - if you can call it shouting. And that infamous laughing scene - good God, someone shoot something. :gonk:

Tidus- His voice doesn't annoy me as much as Yuna's in comparison- but the laughing scene as ever kills off what is left of his dignity. It just made me cringe hearing both of them trying to laugh themselves to death. Sometimes I wish they did.

Larsa- I'm not fully sure why. It just doesn't seem to fit him. How old is he again? About 12? How many 12 year olds sound like that? Also I just don't generally like the voice - or his design.

Vaan
- Sorry - it just wasn't fun to listen to. It didn't help that Vaan himself is a rather crap character in the context of the story anyway. I do agree - his dialogue makes him such an outsider to the rest of Ivalice's dialect and style of lexis.

This.

Vaan's voice irritated me more than his character to be honest...and I dislike his character immensely. FFXII had some awesome VAs but Vaan sounded like he had just stepped out of the Disney Channel. Out of all the FF VAs, his was easily the worst one. I think it's much more horrible than Hope's to be honest.

Hope's VA actually doesn't annoy me as much although that "I sound like I just reached puberty" is still lingering at times when he speak. But there at times I'd also think that the voice kinda suit him at certain scenes...so I don't know, I'm somewhat on the fence with him even if I'm not fond of the voice.

Aerith - KH. Mandy Moore? Come on, now. I cringed whenever Aerith spoke - it just sounded so out of place. I thought her VA for AC actually did a lot better to be honest.

Seymour - I remember thinking, "What the hell is up with his voice?" when I first heard him. I mean now I do think it suited him for the role, but it did take awhile to get used to his voice. It just sounded so flat and squeaky...like a piglet.

The only games I have played with VAs are FFX, FFX-2, FFXII and FFXIII, so I can't comment on Dissidia, KH or any of those games.

Tidus: He was good in places, but his voice was just annoying. It wasn't enough to ruin some of the cutscenes though, unlike...

Yuna: She was fine, and a good fit for FFX-2, but in FFX I found her embarrasing. I can't recall any specific lines, but there were places which really made me cringe.

I haven't played enough of FFXII, and that bit I haven't played since release. FFXIII's voice actors are great so far though.

As much as I love Yunie, her voice actor just plain sucked. It didn't feel like some one who could summon big strong monsters to kick every one's butt. (Nevermind the fact that the only summon she uses outside of player controlled battle is Valefor.............................. I hate Valefor.)

I didn't like Balthier's VA. Yeah, I said it. It was annoying. Admittedly, for me, the writer messed him up more than the VA, but the VA just made things worse.

Vaan, as some one else mentioned, sounds too much like a Disney character trying to act like the toughest dude in the world, when even Balthier lays his butt on the ground several times.

I absolutely hated Barret in AC. Way to reinforce the stereotype, SE. Good job.

Seymour sounded like a pedophile to me...not to hate on his voice actor cause I'm sure he's very talented but yeah....I just couldn't get over the creepy pedophile voice.

And like I usually argue for X, the voice actors had a very hard time with fitting in the words to match the lip syncing which would cause a very unnatural sound to the characters. It really wasn't there faults. So in my opinion Hedy is not really bad voice actress. And JAT is one of the best in the business.

Ohh, man. I loved Balthier's voice :inlove: I thought it was one of his better attributes :D

I couldn't stand Yuna's voice actor--I swear she's related to Ben Stein. She's completely monotone and she sounds like she's apologizing for existing with every line, like she's afraid to talk or something. :mokken: Sorry, but she's one of the main characters--more oomph please.

And I must also rant about Steve Blum, the guy who did Vincent's voice in AC and DOC. He's got a great voice, but somehow it's not anything like how I pictured Vincent sounding. Not to mention he made Canaan
in Xenosaga III sound like a whiny bitch and I still haven't forgiven him for it :mokken:

Vaan was fine. it was Fran's voice that made you want to rip off your own ears.

Da missstttt...it seethhhheesssssss

Ugh.

Also Cloud in Dissidia was pretty terrible. Kuja was he worst, however.

Vaan- it was so monotone, he bored me, annoyed me,
Vanille- It's.. so fake, it doesn't seem real to me.
Seymour- Everytime he showed up again I was like: noooooo, his voice was weird and just not pleasant to listen to.
