WARNING, Ladies "Monthly" question, if you're a guy you'll get weirded out

As SorceressEdea7 said, I think our versions of them are Midol and... er.. the other thingie she said. I'm a bit of a chicken myself, so if anything was abnormal I would at the very least call my doctor, and see if it's normal... if cramps are so bad that it messes with day-to-day activities, you can be put on the pill or get special medicines for it, I'm pretty sure. (I nearly was, it makes your periods lighter and stops cramps from being so bad... I think. Not entirely sure. :wacky:)

It SOUNDS like you'll be okay, but if you think it could be something wrong, getting it checked can't hurt. Better to be safe than sorry and all.
Yea, the pill is a no-no, I live in America people. I gotta buy those things.... All right, I'm just happy you all are saying it's normal. Cuz I was worried it was some sign of something bad.

Okay, thanks for the help again, Rinoa. C:

My period is hell.

Like... All the shit you can get for it, doesn't ease it, so I find myself in bed at least once a month all day. ¬.¬ Always been like this,

There's stuff as simple as ibuprofen that helps for some lucky girls out there, but well I'm fucked - and not the literal way.

-__- Talk about a great week. I started my fucking period last night, 'tis been nothing but hell.
Started mine yesterday too. I'm the same, Kira. Nothing, no pills or meds, eases my pain. I just have to deal with it.

Ah shit.... having to pay for it sucks

I dunno what to suggest other than that, other than the aforementioned pain killers =/

I'm on my period too -__-

Must be a full moon, lol.

Yea, having to pay for the stuff really gets in the way. I can pretty much only aford normal aspirin and stuff. -__-

Despite popular belief, the cheap(er) medication you get in supermarkets or other really cheap stores are exactly the same as the brands (e.g. in the UK, the "value health" range of Paracetamol (for 16p) is exactly the same as, say, Panadol (around £2.39). Same ingredient, same strength but less extortion. Shop around.

I started mine last week. That means no swimming and no cold stuff. -__- (i.e. no getting fit and no orange-watermelon juice :sad2:)

Mine doesn't usually cause me pain... although if it does, it makes cramps and stomachache.

Ive been on the Pill for good few years and that has lightened my period, but I get the tummy aches, I actually like having them lol. Are you stressed? Stress can slow a period, even make it lighter. If youre really worried, chat to your GP or your mum? But youve got peeps to help also here :)

No cold stuff? Why not?

Actually, yes I am a little. But not majorly. Just worried about some stuff.

Well, with the bastards on that other forum not doing any favours, you do need to relax. Nice hot bath and a good book. That calms me right down. And cranberry juice really does do wonders lol XD

Yea, they really bugged me. I suppose I can always read Pride and Prejudice and watch some Buffy.

Wouldn't you guess, though--I got no Cranberry juice ::gasp:
Thanks for the help, Star :tighthug:

I have severe pains at the moment, really uncomfortable.
But...I don't think there is anything to worry about :dave:

You're body is probably still going through normal changes. =)

Though if you really are still a bit not sure about it I'd suggest you do see your doctor. They're the ones who'll be able to put your mind at ease. >.<

But I don't think there is anything to worry about.

I'm on the pill, so it might be a different story as to why mine get light in certain months, but I don't really stress over it.

I do find that sometimes I will have really bad cramps for four days with a very very light flow and I have worried at the time, but then the next month it was back to normal, so I guess it's just your body really. >.<

Its true that your body does go through changes. I know mine isn't always the same every time im on my period :hmmm:

I started Friday >D:

When i first started I got mine one month skip the next and so forth. Sometimes i would have it at the beginning of the month and then again at the end.
i can't say its for the same of you girls however, i know mines different sometimes.

Like when I started exersing again, my period time changed too.

As far as cramps, if your concerned i'd see a doc but, its probably not a huge issue.

I never hardly get cramps, but when i do, i take pills right away to try and ease the pain.

I skip mine on purpose sometimes. Like this month. >.<

Was meant to start this week but I took the pill again so I didn't get it. =/

I'm really unmotivated when I have them and it puts me off from everything usually.

I usually do get cramps a lot worse the next month though because I skipped it the previous month. >.<

Well, you're 18, so your body is going through some of its final stages of development. (I believe... :hmmm:) It's quite normal to have strange occurences or happenings during that stage. :hmmm:

Also, I'm a man. I got off Scott fraking clean!

Is the money the only reason you can't get on the pill? Because I've known a handful of girls/women who were put on it for the express purpose of relieving pain from cramps and/or dysmenorrhea. So that would be a logical first step. Also, if you (or your parents, dunno your situation) have any kind of insurance plan, you can get a basic prescription from Wal-Mart for $9 a month.

((Side note: +1 reason for universal health care. :monster:))

Y'all should consider getting the shot.
The shot?

Didn't know that. :hmmm:

Doesn't it do something to you if you take the pill whenever?

The shot - Depo Provera - Is a ...progesterone based (I believe) shot that you get either in the arm or the bum and it lasts for 3 months at a time. The brilliant part? No periods. No cramps, no shitty bloody mess of anything. You'll get the occasional spotting every now and again, but... yeah, nothing. It puts your periods on hold. You shouldn't go on it longer than 2-3 years at a time, because after that it can start to cause some troubles with osteoporosis and infertility. Given you take Calcium supplements, you'll be fine, the infertility only really affects you if you take it longer than that.

Wouldn't bother turned me into a heffer the depo did if you really want a good contraceptive and something that can stop your periods get the implant lasts for 3 years basically it feels like a hairgrip under your skin and all you need is a little local anesthetic on your upper inner arm
