So Lulu was engaged to Wakka's brother, Chappu.

Chappu met his fate before we could meet him in FFX. But now that FFX-2 has come around, we see that Lulu and Wakka are now married and with a baby now.

So do you see this as Wakka betraying his brother, and his love for Lulu at the time, or do you see this as Wakka and Lulu forming a love for each other after the events of FFX, and deciding not to be strung up on the past and move on with the future?

I didn't really see it as a betrayal. Judging by Chappu's personality, what little we see of it, he only wants Lulu to be happy. His sphere in Chapter 5 kinda cements that in my mind.

I do feel Wakka always had some kind of bond with Lulu, but he was always a little put off by the fresh wound that was Chappu's death, and Lulu didn't even let her guard down at all until Zanarkand, when it came to Yunalesca basically cutting down the use of the teachings of Yevon.

I do think that Wakka and Lulu kind of bonded over the fact that they had both gone through hard times. They were both going to lose who was basically a sister to them, and they both overcame impossible odds.

So yeah, I just feel it's the two of them moving on from Chappu and the past in general really.

To be honest, I don't know why anyone would view it as betrayal. I mean, do we even know who came onto who? If Lulu made the first move, then clearly she was ready to move on. If it was Wakka that made the first move, then big deal.

Besides, how much time had passed from when Chappu died and X-2? It's not like Chappu died and then Wakka swooped in and took her. I would imagine it was a good couple of years.

I too think that Wakka and Lulu formed their own bond/love for each other in the events of FFX and in its aftermath. I think that even though Lulu and Chappu were engaged, they have decided to move on from that part of their past and focus on a positive future ahead of them, they will still always have the memories of Chappu with them and no doubt always credit him with a part of the strength in their relationship.

I personally don't see how it can be viewed as a betrayal myself, but I was leaving the option open for someone who might argue it or play devil's advocate. Some people might view it as awkward or weird that you marry your dead brother's fiance. Just throwing out possibilities.

Well...

Playing the bad guy. IT's betryal Since Chappu was going to married to Lulu. Wakka knew this. and even then Took Chappu's furture husband. Possibly betryaing Lulu's and his commitment to Chappu. It almost sigifies that they dont care what There true feelings are. And might just ruin Chappus/Lulus way of solitude after Chappu's death. After Chappu Lulu didnt want to fall in love again. Because she didnt want this heartbreak. So it's betrayl to her commitment to Chappu.

Playing the good guy now. It's been a few years since Chappu's death. Lulu is still semi devisated along with Wakka. So its almost seems natural theyd seek comfort in eachother. Two people that Lost the same person they loved. cope with eachother because its easier. and both can understand each others feelings. Since Lulu was living in Besaid with wakka. If almost seems obvious that they would Get together. Plus the fact that throughout the game Lulu's Girlfriendish/Motherly attitube came out mostly when she was repremanding wakka. And that hints to the fact that too Care free guys. She also acted like this to chappu. Also Lulus Cold demeanor? Well. She kept that up. I belive to make sure she didnt get feelings for anyone on her journey. So that if they died she wouldnt feel heart break. But we also must try to understand that She mightve had feelings for Wakka BEFORE the pilgrimage. So she may have kept it up so She could love Wakka and only Wakka.

Also her Saying "Ill sacrifice myself" may be a plea to rejoin with Chappu. Basically crushing my Good argument. This means she had no feelings for Wakka,Tidus,Auron on anyone else.

*Waits patiently for people to come in and tear apart my arguement*

I think it's a bit of a betrayal tbh. In FFX we see no development for them as characters for a couple.. and then all of sudden sometime during the calm, bam. And it happened fairly soon since she gave birth, so she was already 9 months in.

Lulu was really hung up on Chappu what we saw in FFX. So I actually think it's a betrayal on both parts, him on his brother, and she on him for what they had. To me it seems like too quick to jump the gun when you were still obviously pining after him, even if he did die a while ago..

oh well she told me (Tidus) she'd add me to her "list" when i told her she was more my type. i think the woman realizes she has needs.

...for sex. iss funny, because i ruin obvious joke! :monster:

I've never really been bothered by that, I've always been critical of him when he had to pick between being a citizen of Spira or doing his job as a Guardian though.

King Henry VIII married his dead brother's wife, and look what happened to him, he got married again and again and again.
I don't think it is a betrayal, seeing as it was inevitable, the tension between Wakka and Lulu, and that they raised Yuna together, it was all fairly obvious.
If it were a betrayal, which it isn't, it would be by Lulu. She went from loving one guy to loving his brother.
