VII Remake and Aeris

If Square-Enix decided to really do a remake of Final Fantasy VII, would you like to have the ability to revive Aeris? Or do you think the original tragic death would be the better way to go to stay true to the original game?
 
If she didn't die then it wouldn't be a remake.

Also, I don't really want it remade, but if it does get remade I want it stay true to the original. Especially the music. It's what made the game special IMO.
 
I would go with the latter. There's no point in having the ability to revive Aerith anyway. It would simply throw the story off course and Advent Children for example wouldn't make much sense. I can see why some people want her revived - they don't want their level grinding with Aerith going to waste.

But if you can revive her in a remake - that infamous scene would just lose its significance and impact (whatever impact left it can make of course - we all know what happens to Aerith). Plus - it wouldn't really be a faithful remake would it?
 
No, it would ruin the tragicness of her death and the impact it had on the hero and the players. I like her and all, but that would take away all the beauty in VII's storyline.

And from the way Nomura talks about her death and how meaningful it is, I don't see him letting that happen either. Aerith's death was a part of the story and was a main part of one of the characters life, they can't revive her in the remake.

Plus, it would render everything after VII useless.

I fully agree with the experience taking a profound impact were the ability to revive Aeris implemented.

With Aeris truly gone the player feels the full impact of her loss. The player looks back to their experience with her and her inclusion in the game as a passing glance.

The same effect is executed with Sephiroth during Cloud's flashback. Sephiroth is given a role in which he is incredibly overpowered to give the player an insight into just how much potential and power he had at his disposal. Cloud speaks reverentially of Seph and the fact that this technique is employed so early in the game serves to build a great pedestal for the final confrontation.

The same technique is employed when Aeris dies. When her demise comes about the player has traversed the entire world. The player then has to retrace his/her footsteps through the world still mourning the loss.

Giving the player the option to bring her back would impede on the emotional weight the narrative imposes on the player, not to mention undermine the canon of the story.

Nevertheless, if she was playable after the story was finished (maybe after the final confrontation) it could be implemented as a new game plus feature.
 
Hell no. That's too much added for a remake. The option simply shouldn't be there. She dies, if she gets brought back, that would only make yet another plot hole for more shitty spinoffs. Not only that, it could potentally destroy an already bad idea.

Because we all know I hate the concept of a FFVII remake. Even if I'm just ranting about the inevitable. :rofl:
 
No, we should not revive her. :mokken:

Her death was an essential part of the compilation. It would seem foolish and a waste of time to put in a way to save her. It doesn't seem necessary for her to come back for any reason. It would take away a core part of the game as well, as her death has a great impact on the characters and is a pivotal plot point. I was an iconic scene in the game and allowing that change would lessen the impact of the story.
 
No, it would ruin the VII experience, along with the storyline. As, Hitsugaya Toushirou stated.

This has nothing to do with me disliking her. Besides, it wouldn't be a remake if she was revived, along with other things happening. I'm also against the whole "Add a playable character when you beat the game as a bonus game." No.

Just make the damn remake with updated graphics, but they should leave the storyline alone. >.>

From now on,a remake would be the exact same thing but different graphics and maybe voice dialogue.Everyones going to know what happens, sephiroth > aerith will be discuseed over and over like many times, sephiroth final form but different graphics.Am i saying that its a bad idea? no,its just not an actual ff game,its a remake of a ps1 game thats popular even today still.
 
Reviving Aeris would contradict everything you are supposed to do in disc's 2, 3, and 4. What's the point in getting the Huge Materia, if you can just Phoenix Down Aeris and have her summon Holy to kick Jenova and Meteor's butt? What's the point in fighting the WEAPONs? Or trying to prevent ShinRa from getting the Huge Materia?

It's all because Aeris is gone, and now Cloud and the gang need to step in to fill up the gaps that her absence has created.

Besides, it'd ruin the Aeris ghost scene in Midgar.
 
It'd ruin it being able to revive her. There's nothing more I can add to that really. It would just completely destroy the game and the emotional impact and the extra drive for your party to go kick some butt

Eh, I'd be gutted if it was remade and she was bringbackable, and the fact that it was her presence in the life stream that stopped holy and meteor destroying the place... :gasp:
 
As stated already, bringing back Aeris if possible would destroy this game. Her death was a necessary event to happen to progress the story and make it go the way it did.

here's my opinion: i prefer aerith dead. although she's my favorite character in VII, i think i she's better off in the lifestream with zack than still living and is being chased by shinra guys, at least she's at peace already with her first love.

and oh yeah, i think the story wouldn't be as good as it is now if she was alive.
 
Wow. Some strong opinions here. I never played ff7, well I did but got to the part where where sephiroth lost his his mind and stopped playing. Don't know why. But heard tons of fans were pissed that you couldn't revive her so I wanted to hear opinions of that option being included in a remake.t
 
For me, I was kind of happy that Sephiroth killed her off(is it obvious yet that I prefer Tifa?? :p) because she was never in my party. Then at the area where I HAD to use her I struggled because she was so weak, so the fact that she was stabbed made it so that I didn't have to use her again. So I'd say no reviving! However, what they COULD do is have a save point at the ending of the game like Chrono Cross, that lets you start all over again with all your levels and weapons and materia etc.

That way at least for those who liked her they would able to play her again? While still keeping true to the story, but be beastly at the same time.
 
Well, I think Aeris' death made FF7 popular. If she were to come back to life, it'd ruin it. Like other people said, what'd happen in disc 2? If she had casted holy then and there what much more of the game would there be? Also with Great Gospel everything would be too easy.
 
I still haven't finished the game, but I know some of the story. I think there should be a secret ending added where cloud talks to aeris in the lifesteam. But, if there's already one, don't re-add it.
But reviving aeris would just ruin it, her death is one of the most remembered and one of the saddest and touching parts in the whole ff series. It would ruin FF for me if they revived her.
 
Her death was a huge event in the game, nothing about that should be changed in a remake, I really don't think any of the story in general in a remake because then it wouldn't be fulfilling it's purpose of remaking the original game, it would be changing it plot wise in at least some small way if something is changed completely from the original game.

They should fix up some of the words and such though, and that name...imagine if they made Aerith's name Aeris again? :gasp:
 
If you could revive her then you could not consider it a remake, and it would simply be a non cannon story. I don't think her death was anything special personally i did not care, although as i see from these forums a lot of people do care about her which is a matter of choice, thinking about these people i believe only super marks would actually enjoy to revive her, the casual fan who only likes the scene would most likely feel betrayed.

So that's my thoughts about the Aerith subject, as for the the second part if they did make a remake they could add some other side quests, which would not affect the main story, that would be nice i guess.
 
I'm more of an Aerith fan and I'd love to have her back in the game and that she wouldn't, well, go away. However, SE chose it that way, so I don't want the reviving option, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. It would just ruin the plot etc.
