Just came home from watching Up.

This movie is quite simply the best computer animated movie ever released. Hell it's so good that it even blows away WALL-E (which is the second best computer animated movie ever released). The greatest thing about it, is that it kinda takes you back to a time when kiddy/family movies weren't all just shits and giggles. Up is incredibily touching and sad at times, but it is also extremely funny. If you are not the type easily moved by sad shit in movies, you will atleast be crying tears of laughter.

One of the reasons I always liked Pixar better than Dreamworks is because Pixar's movies were always a bit more cerebral. With Up they really took it to another level though. Confronting the audience with death is rarely seen in family/children's movies these days. Up not only confronts the audience with death though. It does it in a manner that is pretty realistic, and it does it within the first 15 minutes of the movie. And did I mention that it's funny as hell?

I give it 11 out of 10 stars.

How old are you :hmmm:
Only joking, I'm gonna go see it with my cousin (how fun) this weekend and if its like you say I might not fall asleep this time -__-
I also prefer Pixar, I can#t explainwhy it just is.

23, but I'm a child at heart :P

Seriously though, I think that out of all the Pixar movies, this is the one that the more mature audience will get the most out of. At the same time the kids will absolutely love it. Even though they'll be bawling their eyes during certain parts of it haha.

Anyway have a good trip to the movies. If you enjoy it just half as much as I did, it will be money well spent.

Still not out in the UK :( - got just a few more weeks to wait! I'm looking forward to it, Pixar are geniuses in my opinion.

Same here, the trailers I've seen so far have made it pretty funny! It should be out here soon. I haven't seen a good Pixar film in a long time, so I'm definitely looking forward to this one.

WALL-E (which is the second best computer animated movie ever released)

OFT. WALL-E is my all time fav film. I remember seeing a teaser of this last year and I forgot about it till I seen the adverts. I do want to go see it cause I giggle at the little boy when hes trying to convince the old guy to take the dog with them lol. "Its a talking dog!!!" Great stuff.

It has definely been on my list since it came out, I've heard nothing but GOOD reviews for it, therefore it must be funny and worth the seven something pounds I have to pay to go to the cinema.

Will definetly go and see it!

Seen it and LOVE IT!!! Its in my top fav films ever, I just love it. I love Carl, the old man. I cried for the first 15 minutes because its just so tragic and true what happens to him. But its amazing and lovely seeing his character change throughout the film. Oh and Doug is just awesome :D He is such a great character, so daft and faithful at the same time. Bless him :-)

Wonderful, magical film for all ages :D

The beginning was well sad, I sat and watched it with my mum and Ellie and I was totally trying not to cry, it's really moving and the subjects it covers as wlel I was like, wow, dont usually see this shit in a family film, but it's really well done, and absolutely brillaint. I loved it. I'm glad I watched it, I wouldn't have bothered if I didnt get hold of a dvd of it mind becasue generally I think the animations recently are a load of old bollocks, but Im so glad I watched it.

Oh my God I know! I was shocked thinking "Eh, where are Disney going with this?!" It was different and dark, but it made the film all that more special and powerful I think.

Pixar keep up their winning streak, they're a cut above most live-action films, let alone other animated efforts. And they do things that most other peoplewouldn't even consider. Who would have a animated film with an elderly man as the main character? Who would have a film about a rat that wants to cook? Pixar take chances, it's what marks them out.

Though I think Up isn't quite as good as Pixar's best works to date (both Toy Story films, The Incredibles), the more moving moments (especially the opening) are fantastic, lessons in how to deliver emotional moments without manipulating your audience. And I want a dog like Dug!

Alright, I could've sworn I posted in this thread, now there's no post of mine here. -_- I'll just post again...

Up looks like it could be an entertaining movie, but I'm not too interested in it, may or may not see it some time.

I made a thread days ago, surprised there hasn't been so much as one reply, I just want to know if I made the thread poorly or something, did I word it badly? I know the movie was successful, lots of people saw it and I've never heard anyone that has seen it say it was a bad movie. >.>

Bolt did come out a while ago which might be why nobody has commented on the thread, it has come and gone and most film threads here are about new films.

I just saw this and loved it!

That little kid is so cute and funny. XD

The old man is a bit sour at first but eventually mellows out and helps a few helpless creatures and such.

I just laughed so loud when the kid got tired of pulling along the old mans house and just fell onto the ground and started to get dragged along with his face in the dirt. He started to say, 'I'm tired' whilst his face was in the dirt. XD

Great movie!

Finally got around to watching it last night, and I'm very impressed. It deserves all the recognition it has been getting because it's a really beautifully composed film.
The message isn't much different from other Disney films, but the story was really nice and touching. I was actually quite heart broken when Ellie died within the first fifteen minutes. I thought the characters were well written (including Kevin), and their development was really interesting.

And Partly Cloudy is now one of my favourite Pixar shorts.

Chalk me up as another person who loves Up, though I'll be a bit of a downer on the ol' OP and say that it doesn't live up to Wall-E haha. But that's not really an insult because Wall-E is amazing and Up is amazing.

Up loses its way a little bit in the last little while but it's also really funny and touching so it's forgiven.

I went on criticker and looked at my brief review there and yeah:
Great animation, a lot of big laughs, a lot of heartstring tugging, a great story and memorable characters that are both hilarious and tragic. I guess Muntz coulda been fleshed out a bit more but that's a small complaint. In fact, any complaint I have about the movie feels like I'm just reaching to find one. Way to go Pixar, now you can be happy because Obdurate from Canada loves your shit.

I saw this movie a while back and I was quite into the movie :) It was really cute touching and I was very entertained :D Kevin and Dug? were my favorite ^_^ Kevin brought out the best of the old man (can't member his name) It was a good movie and Pixar did a really fantastic job :]

I got my family to watch it in Oz cause I bought the DVD and they loved it. They cried, laughed, gasped. It was brilliant, my younger brother considers it his fav film ever and loves Dug to bits. It is a masterpiece from Pixar, it ranks up as one of my fav all time movies with Wall.E :)

We took my nephews to see this in the theater and we all loved it. I thought the story was well done and I loved the characters.

I thought the beginning of the film was well done in presenting the characters and the set up for the rest of the story.

And I loved the dogs. They were so adorable. xD
