Do you like traditions? And don't mean just formal ones but ones that are between family and friends.

When my family goes down to Hilton Head, it always a tradition to take one bike ride down on the beach in the evening and to eat at a resturaunt called The Crazy Crab. The vacation doesn't feel right if we do not do those two things.

On Thanksgiving, the kids (well now young adults) go out to see a movie after dinner. It kind of completes Thanksgiving.

Also in planning my wedding, I'm planning on being more traditional. i'm going to have a long veil and have the blusher. Also, I'm not letting John see me before the wedding XD It's not that I feel like i have to do these things, I just like old fashioned things.

Sometimes I like traditional stuff and sometimes I don't :hmmm: For example we did a completely untraditional wedding with a theme (medieval and at the Ren Faire :D), but we still didn't see each other before the wedding, and since it was in the morning, we slept in different houses the night before.

We have a special thing that we do (and I know this is going to sound silly :lew:) in December on the date that I first saw Lord of the Rings in the theater and got into it, because it had a monumental impact on my life and helped me keep things together for a while. We basically go to this awesome nature park by the intracoastal, sit on a boardwalk and read LOTR for a while, then sometimes if there's time will go home and watch one of the movies :hmmm: It's a really cool experience.

As far as regular holidays, we do mostly normal stuff, but for Thanksgiving, once we get settled in our new place if ever, the other half and I are going to do a Native American thing instead, we've been looking up a bunch of traditional recipes and we're going to test them throughout this coming year and hopefully come up with a good roster of them for next year. Not sure if the family will want to come and share in it :lew:, and we'll probably still have to join the family for regular Thanksgiving, but since we don't really agree with Thanksgiving itself we feel like we should do a remembrance thing instead on our own, we just can't really facilitate it at the moment given the situation we're in now :sad3:

I don't like those traditions that are viewed as imperatives by others, those that they attempt to force onto me. I go out of my way to defy them, because being expected to adhere to them annoys me immensely. I love making up my own traditions though, just because they're fun little things to pay attention to, and bring back fond memories of their creation~

I like personal traditions! Traditions that mean something to you, your family and/or friends.

The more commercial ones aren't AS important, but I do like to engage with them. I love Christmas! Mind you, I like it because of past experiences and traditions that felt personal... My primary school, for example, always came together at Christmas to sing hymns, perform plays, perform poetry... It was based around the nativity and I enjoyed that. There was a sense of community. :)

The only traditions I really participate in are birthdays, Easter, Christmas, New Years etc.

All those lovely commercial ones.

My family doesn't have personal traditions. We're not that close that we ever would either.

I kinda prefer it that way though. Maybe in time Steve and I will develop our own little traditions. =)

I don't really take notice of many traditions at all apart from having Family Christmas dinner at my Granddad's like we do every year. And theres only really one personal 'tradition' that comes to mind right now and that's having a steak meal before any out of town gig I go to on my own or with the small group of friends whom do the same. It's never anything else, just a rare-cooked steak with all the possible trimmings and a pint. Glorious. :neomon:

Hell yeah! I love traditions. One of my favorite traditions is coming up. We always watch a bunch of Royal Rumble matches from past years about a week before the new one. I fucking love this. We just get to sit back and relax as a family, and watch something we all love. We have some on DVD and on VHS, so it's always cool to bring out the big box of tapes.

We do the same thing for Wrestlemania time. We watch previous ones before the next one.

When I was younger, my dad would have this tradition--Once a month, we'd buy frozen pizza and have a movie/family night. We were pretty close [other than my old man] we'd play board games, card games, video games anything that was considered bonding.

Every Thanksgiving my old man would deep fry the Turkey and we'd watch football. Board games and jersey's were a must have with this tradition.

Christmas Eve- Open presents at midnight.

Christmas- Dinner and "Santa"

That is all I can think of that we did as a family :hmmm:

I think it's very important to have a tradition-- I plan on passing these when I become a parent.
