Toy Story 3

you know who else I wanna see, zurg, hes the coolest toy in the movie,I hope hes not a villain again,he was the main villain in the buzz lightyear movie. He was comic relief in toy story 2 he only appeared a few times.LOL "no buzz,I am your father" "noooooooooo...." copycat of star wars.

Toy Story 3 had quite few movie references, Jurrasic Park, Space Odessey 2001 theme, Star Wars as mentioned. Seen Sherk 4 trailer, looks awful. Its like they couldnt think of a good plot and threw load of crap together. Thats why I prefer Pixar to Dreamworks.

So has anyone else seen this yet?

I was a bit wary of it going in. The 2 first Toy Story movies (in particularly the first one) haven't dated all that well, and seem rather primitive compared to Pixar's more recent output such as WALL-E and Up! My girlfriend got free tickets through work though, so in spite of any reservations, we decided to go anyway.

And I have to admit that I was absolutely blown away by what I saw. Pixar did a great job with updating the visuals while retaining the distinct feel of the 2 first movies. Storyline-wise and theme-wise, it took more after WALL-E and Up! and at times it was almost heartbreakingly sad, but it still felt like Toy Story (even though it put Toy Story 1 and 2 completely to shame) If you haven't seen it yet, then go now. This really is a must-see!

Oh yeah and Spanish mode Buzz Lightyear is the greatest character ever :busta:

Buzz/Jessie ftw

Actually I have to say that between the three of them (and I've managed to watch all three within the space of the past two weeks); I liked the overall story of Toy Story 2 more than 1 and 3, but in terms of animation and singular moments, 3 completely blew the first two away. I've heard a lot of people teared up from it, but really the only part that got me was
the very end when Andy ends up giving all of his toys to Bonnie, especially the scene where she pulled Woody out of the box. The look on Andy's face... ;_;

it still felt like Toy Story
That's something that struck me about how this movie worked. It had the same characters with the same personalities, and to an extent, even the same plot. Toys get separated by accident, toys fight to return home, toys succeed. Each movie's had that same formula even though circumstances and situations change...and after three films it hasn't felt tired (the way so many other # 3's feel cramped, stretched, or exhausted lately).

Oh you lucky buggers!!! UK doesnt get it till July 23rd :( Ive been waiting 11 or so years for this and I cant wait to watch it! My cousins 18 month old son is crazy about Toy Story 1 and 2, so we're planning on taking him to see it. Its a shame the original voice of Slinky passed away, but still it looks fantastic!

I don't care how old I am, I'm going to see this film when it comes over here next month. The trailers look hilarious and I've heard nothing, but good reviews about it. I don't think it'll be as good as the original, yet I'm hoping it'll be better than the second.

Absolutely brilliant. It was everything the first two deserved, and everything I hoped it would be. It stuck to the same basic formula that made the original two so good, and that paid off for Pixar. I almost cried towards the end when it looks as though
they're all going to be incinerated.
I thought the opening sequence was very intelligently done; that was a new way of them approaching the whole play time thing.

I was also really impressed with Night & Day.

Night & Day was good, but I felt it dragged a bit. I just wanted to get to the main film.

Now as for the film, the highlights for me were Spanish Buzz and the Ken/Barbie scenes. Pixar have nailed this film and I count it as the best one from the trilogy. I will agree that the ending is sad, but very true to life. The large audience I was sat along with were laughing so much. I don't remember the last time I'd laughed so much myself, probably not since The Hangover.

It'd be a bit cheeky to ask for another film if it's ever brought up. The franchise has got a perfect ending there. I really don't want them to carry it on, everything's been wrapped up now.

haven't seen this yet but i will soon.

i just love how this film has turned the adults back into little kids, i was 6 when i watched toy story at the cinema. and i will definately feel that old again when i go and watch it in the near future.

Back to the Future, Indiana Jones (I'm ignoring the fourth one!), Lord of the Rings (though I tend to count it as one very long film split into three) and now Toy Story as an addition to the very small list of great film trilogies. And that last quarter of an hour was so moving
when Andy showed all the toys to Bonnie and played with them one last time
. A perfect way to conclude the series.

Plus I loved seeing the Toroto plushie in Bonnie's room :)

=O We don't get it till the end of the August so we can Dub it for the kids etc. But I refuse to watch it in Swedish becaus eI have seen the others in English. And who doesn't love Tom Hanks?

Really can't wait for the film. Beeen waiting forever for it.

Saw Toy Story 3 a few weeks back. I found it to be a perfect ending to the series and I hope that they do not make a new one. (Though I heard that the Disney Channel is going to air shorts)

And I really can't believe that Toys made me cry. 3 parts come to mind.

1. The incinerator scene. Where all the toys join hands and accept their fate.

2. Andy's mom walking into his room and finding it empty. I dunno, just her realizing that her son was grown up and moving out got to me.

3. The end where Andy gives his toys to Bonnie. He plays with them one last time and Bonnie has Woody wave goodbye to him.

I also found it sweet that Andy always thought of Woody as his favorite toy :)

Plus I loved seeing the Toroto plushie in Bonnie's room :)

SPeaking of easter eggs; watch the bit where Woody climbs up on Andy's dresser and looks at all the trophies and awards and whatnot.

There's a postcard on his wall from "Carl and Ellie Frederickson".

i just love how this film has turned the adults back into little kids

*totally pulled all of his old transformers out to play with when he got home afterwards*

I saw this film the other night and absolutely loved it, now Toy Story is one of those rare trilogies where every film is great - I'd say only the Original Star Wars Trilogy and the LOTR Trilogy can also say that every film in the trilogy is great.

I really enjoyed the storyline, and the way they managed to use all the characters. Mr and Mrs Potato head were, in particular, hilarious. I loved every scene at the daycare, especially the Ken and Barbie scenes, although, I was disappointed they didn't use "Take My Breath Away" like they did in the trailer. xD

It was really emotional too, I honestly thought
that they were going to get incinerated for a few minutes, since they made it appear that the LGMs had been destroyed, but when they saved them, it was both hilarious and touching.

The ending was really upsetting, and I had to try really hard not to cry, but it also made me really think.
Won't the toys go through all that again once Bonnie grows up? Or will the toys simply retire at the nursery, now that it's under better leadership in the form of Barbie and Ken?

All in all, brilliant movie, and a perfect way of closing the trilogy. As long as they don't make anymore Toy Story movies, the series will go down as one of the greatest, in my opinion.

The old man in Toy Story 2 also bears a striking resemblance to the old man in the Pixar short who plays chess against himself.

I was supposed to see this 2 dys ago but of course people did not want to go :hmph: So all I ask is how is it different from Toy story 1 and 2? I know ANdy is in college during the setting of Toy story 3. I mean its been such a long time since 2. Its bound to be good :hmmm:

You don't know much about it then. :dave:
Andy is getting ready to go to college in 3, which leads to
his remaining toys being accidentally given away to a day care centre, and they then decide to make their way back home.

I think we can all unanimously agree that this was the perfect close to the Toy Story trilogy. I just returned from the cinema and I have to say (which is rather unusual for me) that there is nothing I can think of from the top of my head at the moment that I find worth criticising. It was indeed a fantastic film, with a perfect mix of emotional scenes and comical scenes. They've honestly done a terrific job with the emotional scenes, making us care deeply for the characters despite the fact that we haven't seen them for 11 years.

I really loved the plot. The daycare centre was a fantastic setting. I loved the contrast - where it seemed like every toys' paradise at first, and then a
seemingly horrific prison the next.
Many of the highlights were the hilarious moments - such as Mr Potato Head being a.....tortilla and then a cucumber head. Buzz's "Spanish mode" had the audience laughing loudly. I really enjoyed Barbie's interactions with Ken more than I thought I would - especially when
Ken's tied up, Barbie's tearing his outfits and all the insults hurled at him.

I'll admit it as well - I was more or less in tears at the ending. The scene with Andy and Bonnie was just so cleverly done to hit a chord with us. I was also rather touched with Lotso's backstory of being
seemingly replaced and unwanted by his previous owner
. I was glad that he was given
no redeemable qualities
. At the point where he climbed up to the button,
I had in my mind a clichéd moment where he would change his character and admit his mistakes. But I love how they continued keeping him as a bad guy anyway.
xD

Ending was perfect. I couldn't think of a better
new owner than Bonnie.
And I loved the credits, watching what the toys were now up to. Oh, and I was half-hoping that Zurg would
stick around for more than 5 seconds to take over Sunnyside or something.
:wacky:

That'd be Gerry I believe.

I'd have to check, but I remember reading somewhere that every star character who appears in a Pixar short later gets a cameo in a main movie.
