We decided that the old thread was poorly organised and far too spammy, so we've decided to remake the thread.

As well as giving a list, please say why the song is on your top ten.

Posts with just a list, and no elaboration may be classed as spam and may be deleted without warning.

At the moment my top 10 favourites consist of the following:

01. 3oh3! feat Katy Perry -Starstrukk

I simply love this song. It has an awesome beat and these guys go absolutley awesome together!

I love the lyrics especially and the music clip is so fun to watch. XD

---

02. Butterfingers - FigJam

Awesome song.

An Aussie group this one is. They have such hilarious lyrics. XD

'Fuck I'm good, just ask me.' XD

He looks so cute when the chicks are dancing around him. It's like he's never been near a girl. XD

---

03. Lady Gaga - I Like It Rough

Another brilliant song from Lady Gaga.

She's been coming up with quite a few lately and most of them refer to sex. XD

'I like it rough.'
'Disco Stick.'
'If it's not rough it isn't fun.'

Lovely outfits as well. She's definitely one of a kind.

---

04. Lily Allen - Not Fair

OMG she speaks the effing truth! Which is why I love this song. XD

I feel her pain sometimes. :gonk:

Her accent is so cute too. I love listening to her voice. <3

---

05. Armand Van Helden - NYC Beats

This song has an awesome beat and helps me to exercise.

It's so fast paced and I love dancing along to it as it makes me more motivated to exercise longer. XD

Dancing to the beat works your body out a lot better too!

---

06. Eyerer & Chopstick - Make My Day

This song is just trippy.

I like listening to artists that aren't that well known. They always have something unique about them.

This song is about a robot dog going about the streets and such and then into clubs. XD

The dog is singing the song too. XD It's just funny. <3

---

07. PNAU - Baby

Another trippy song.

This song has trombone in it too. Not something you usually come across in a song.

It has a weird music clip.

It's a bunch of little kids dressed up as weird things singing.

I love it. <3 It too has an awesome rhythm to work out too. It sounds cool because the kids are actually singing the song too.

---

08. VNV Nation - Illusion

OMG this is like the saddest song ever. =0

The guy has such an amazingly lovely voice and his lyrics are so touching. <3 I could listen to this forever and not get sick of it.

I so want to make a music video for this.

Awesome song. <3

---

09. Metallica - The Unforgiven III

The best Unforgiven song of the three in my opinion.

The length of songs are usually an issue for me. I like them to be quick and not dragged out.

But with Metallica it's different.

I love listening to the guitar. They really know how to play that thing.

Simply fantastic band!

This song has such awesome lyrics and I love how it's more mellow than their others.

---

10. Metallica - Fade to Black

I simply love the guitar in this one as well. XD

It's more the instrumental then the lyrics that I usually love about this band and this song is definitely the best for it in my opinion.

It's a shorter song and I wish they had played more of the same but nonetheless it's still brilliant.

My list changes too often to make this count...

I'll also try to not repeat the same band. :wacky:

But... at the moment it has to be....;

1) Playing God, by Paramore

The lyrics, and the whole song itself are amazing. I'm a sucker for good lyrics, and this one has some catchy lines in there.

It also has an amazing message, and I've been in love with this song, since the first time I heard it.

2) If You Run, by You Me At Six

Gorgeous band. Gorgeous song. Lyrics are amazing and so meaninfull, I love how I'm able to relate to some of their songs. They state what's true but aren't sobby and whiney (same thing) about it.

Loving Josh's voice to, a big plus.

3) So Damn Clever, by The Plain White T's

I love this song. xD Really catchy. Kinda like their song 'Please Don't Do This', just a damn catchy song.

I love the lyrics and the vocals in this, the melody is amazing, and I'm just loving the whole vibe to it, to be honest. Amazing song.

4) Hate Every Beautiful Day, by Sugarcult

This song's just... OMNOMNOM.

The sound of it makes me want to either drum/play guitar/sing/scream/dance along. It's amazing. The lyrics are gorgeouuuuuus, and his voice is omnomnom... xD

5) Vulnerable, by Secondhand Serenade

:hmmm: His voice... Can get a bit whiney sometimes... But the lyrics of this song are just... So good... They're just gorgeous... It's just really a song for me that I have to listen to once or twice a week, 'cause that makes it all the better... Not over playing it, but listening to it. It's a great song.

6) Plays Pretty For Baby, by Saosin

Great, great, great, great song. It's amazing. Cheery, but... I'm not sure if it's the good, feeling happy kind, or the ignoring problems kind... xD It's a good song either way.

It's really a song you could use for a boring jog... I know I always goof off with this song. :wacky:

7) Commercial For Levi, by Placebo

Sad, but really good song.

The sound to this song is really sweet. Lyrics are kinda twisted, but speak about a good story, I really like it.

Brian Molko's voice never disappoints me. :ryan:

8) Celler Door, by Escape the Fate

Creepy, but amazing song.

The lyrics are rather... Disturbing if you listen to it. But I heard there was a really sad true story behind it. :gonk: Which if I think about it, does sound really sad...

The best songs always seem to have something behind them.

9) Jumping Someone Else's Train, by The Cure

This took me a while to decide on. I love The Cure, and I couldn't pick just one favourite song... This isn't my favourite, but my most liked at the moment.

The drum beat is amazing. Really a 'train' vibe going on there. I love Robert Smith's voice. What they say is right though. Either you love their sound, or you hate it. :D I love it.

10) Kiss Yourself Goodbye, by The All American Rejects

The guitar is badass in this song. Then when the vocals come in, it's even better. I absolutely love this song.

The lyrics, the sound, the vocals. Everything is perfect. :D

------

This was my list for at the moment. As said, it changes alot, so I'll be back when I have a new top ten list... xD

I love music... :ryan:

10. Vouge by Madonna-
My number ten song is catcy. I love this song, because it's a happy song about celebrating who you are no matter who you are, and it's about being yoursefl and having fun.

9. Cinderella - Sweetbox
This is the song that I first got of theirs, and I love it to death. I play it at least once a day, and have for the last year. The classical background helps it become more than a pop song.

8. Gulity Pleasure - Cobra Starship
I like this song because I can connect with it to an extent. I don't mind being a guilty pleasure either.

7. Urban Mermaid- Yuna Ito
I don't have a clue what's she's saying, but this song is still one of my favorites.

6. Better Get to Livin- Dolly Parton
This song shouldn't be so good, but it is. It's got a great happy message, and it makes me like Dolly Parton.

5. Exodus 'O4- Utada
I love this song because it's really different. I'd never heard anything like it before. It's also catchy and easy for me to relate to.

4. Music - Madonna
The celebration song for me. Music is a great dance track that never gets odd, and has really true lyrics. Most of all it makes my attitude about music into a song.

3. Human Nature- Madonna
This song makes me happy in a weird way. It's like giving a middle finger to the masses, and making a point at the same time. Not to mention it's easy to relate to the message.

2. American Life- Madonna
This song is only second because it's not as good as my favorite song. It's got a great beat, a good message, and it manages to be one of the few songs with reguar tempo changes that I like.

1. Drowned World/Substitute for Love- Madonna
This is it. My favorite song. Why? It's slow, and I hate slow songs. But I love this one. It was the second to last track I finally listened to on Ray of Light, and since that I give it that chance, it's never let me down. On the surface it's about fame, but you only have to think to see that it's easily much deeper. I listen to this song over and over.

And that's that.

Here are my top ten current favourite songs. The list may yet change in the next few weeks.

1. The Saturdays - Ego

This is fairly new and they're one of the rising girlbands over here in the UK, so not many people will have heard them. It's taken from their second album (released only a year after their debut one), which I'm intending to buy. The concept is about a guy with an ego and the girls singing that he should stop it. I love the electropop sound of the song since it seems like they've taken their music up a notch.

2. Lady GaGa Feat. Beyonce - Telephone

I really hope this gets released as a single and gets a music video because it sounds like a dancefloor hit. Adding Beyonce in there is just the icing on the cake since they both sound great together. GaGa keeps on surprising me with all these new songs and I really want to get The Fame Monster to hear the rest of them!

3. Lady GaGa - Bad Romance

I believe I've explained why I like this song so many times already lol. Firstly, the "ra ra" part is brand new to me and genius. It's a very addictive song that's grown on me ever since I first heard it. The girl deserves credit for all the dedication to music she's put forwards over the past year or so.

4. Rihanna - Russian Roulette

An amazing comeback song for her! Love how she's introduced electric guitars into this new style of music she apparently has. It's a very emotional song and the lyrics are strangely true. The beat is also constant and incredible.

5. Ke$ha - Tik Tok

Like Telephone, it's one of those songs that could be a hit on the dancefloor. At first I wasn't so keen on this, but now I've completely changed my mind and think it's absolutely genius. Definitely the bad girl anthem of 2009.

6. Death Cab For Cutie - Meet Me On The Equinox

A decent lead song for New Moon, although I preferred Decode in Twilight. The lyrics are very relevant to the film and it keeps me hooked right through until the end. I'll have to listen to more of their stuff soon.

7. Sugababes - About A Girl

Although I wasn't very happy about Keisha being kicked out of the band, I am quite impressed with this song. Jade completely outshines the other two in this since her vocals are FAR better than them. It promotes girl power and it's been a constant favourite for a long while now.

8. Cheryl Cole Feat. will.i.am - 3 Words

I've liked this for a long while and one reason is because it's FAR better than Fight For This Love, which is overplayed WAY too much. Even will.i.am seems to fit in well with the song. It's one of those mesmerising songs that you hear and then want to hear again because it's so good.

9. Agnes - I Need You Now

Perhaps the same assumption with the one above: it's a mesmerising song. The music in particular gives you the impression that it really IS set in a desert without the accompanying video. Her vocals are spot on and I really hope the song charts well over here.

10. Kelly Clarkson - Don't Let Me Stop You

I'm really hoping that she releases this as a single from her new album. I've listened to this countless times and it's one of those lovely songs that allows her to display her flawless vocals. The mixture of electric guitar and drum beat makes it stand out from most of the songs she's ever done.

1) Godspeed you! Black Emperor - The Dead Flag Blues

It's 16 minutes in length, but I wouldn't let that put you off. A beautiful introduction with swelling strings and a bone chilling speech by a man with a deep voice opening with "The Car is on fire, and there's no driver at the wheel, and the sewers are muddied with a thousand lonely suicides" You know from that moment this isn't going to be a sugary popfest gleegasm. No sir. The strings swell louder and begin to play a melancholic melody for 10 minutes, before the man returns with his last words. "For sure is the valley of death, i open up my wallet and it's full of blood"

The sounds of trains in the distance play on for a few minutes, making you picture a lonely misty train station on a winters evening. The sounds swell again and another episode begins, slightly more optimistic this time. The song ends with a cheerful piece played on a glockenspiel.

I really reccommend listening to this.

2) Mum - Green Grass of Tunnel

Glitchy percussions fade in and the main melody begins to play gently on a vibraphone. Taking you to somewhere faraway, the singing begins and it sounds like the singer is an elf, such gentle but wonderful singing.

3) Lightning Bolt - Dracula Mountain

The song begins with a frantic drumbeat and some indecipherable lyrics screeching over the top as if being sung into a telephone microphone (it is) and the roaring bass kicks in playing a powerful and repetitive riff. This carries on for a few minutes before breaking down back to the original drumbeat and the howling lyrics, before being replaced by one of the greatest riffs ever. The song then chokes you before throwing you back into the roaring guitars and pounding drums and gets louder and louder.

Perfect song for venting rage. Best noise rock ever. Or is it?

4) Boredoms - Super Shine

Where to begin? The song starts as if someone is playing with the rewind button on a tape deck, before emerging into a roaring synth and a tribal beat and chanting. The song then merges into what sounds like one of the craziest jam sessions ever, and continues that way for about 12 minutes.

Boredoms make the best psychedelic noise rock ever, I can only begin to imagine what drugs they're on and how their jam sessions go.

5) Beirut - Elephant Gun

Mmmmm, ukelele, accordions and a wonderful voice take you to old world europe. It makes me imagine riding through france on an old motorbike in the summer.

Old World Folk music at it's best.

6) Animal Collective - Did you see the Words

An echoey guitar swells in followed by some dripping piano. It's hard to pick my favourite animal collective song. But this comes close. It slowly builds up with Avey Tares childlike vocals before coming to a crescendo with more swooping piano and vocal harmonies.

7) Neutral Milk Hotel - In an Aeroplane over the Sea

The most simple guitar chord pattern ever, but its done so well. With saw synths and trumpets, it sounds so very rustic, which is the idea i guess. Jeff Mangums lyrics are vivid and he struggles to fit them all in. The entire album is a concept album about a series of dreams he had after reading the diary of anne frank. The whole thing is dripping with powerful emotion. You can really heard it in his singing

The best album of the 90s, listen.

8) Daft Punk - Around the World

Again reminds me of the 90s, french house music at it's best. Repetitive, but utterly delicious.

If you like Daft Punks later material, i reccommend listening to Homework, it's different, but still just as good.

9) Liars - Mr. you're on Fire Mr.

The early stuff of Liars is a bit abrasive, I'm not too keen on it, but this song is pretty tasty. Very punky, fast paced but danceable. The bass riff halfway through is one of the best riffs i've heard.

10) Therapy? - Dancin' with Manson

Loud, very loud. Early Therapy? is the best kind of Therapy? The song is about someone who falls in love with Charles Manson. Anyone who knows who he is will probably assume the song is pretty twisted, you wouldn't be wrong.

The riffs again are some of the best riffs I've heard.

Champagne Supernova - Oasis
A pretty awesome way to spend seven and a half minutes. It goes from slow and calm to have a big crescendo, and then slows down for the finish again. There are a couple of really good solos in it, and the lyrics are really interesting too.

Mr. Brightside - The Killers
Purely on the grounds that it's so damn catchy. It's one of those songs that everyone knows the words too and if you hear it, you will sing along.

Plug in Baby - Muse
The opening is incredible, and it keeps the standard for the rest. I can't quite tell exactly what always draws me to it, but I just love it so damn much.

Disco 2000 - Pulp
A fantastic guitar riff that gets you hooked. It's a pretty nostalgic song too - it's hard to believe it was released back in 94.

Song 2 - Blur
Far too short, but still brilliant. The pace is nice and fast all the way through it, and it always sounds better the louder it's played.

Hey Jude - The Beatles
The best of a brilliant bunch by The Beatles, I think. It's another really catchy song that everyone seems to love. The vocals are really soothing to listen to.

Hoppípolla - Sigur Rós
Quite simply, a beautiful song. There's no other way to describe it. It always relaxes me when I listen to it, even though I have no idea what the message of the song is supposed to be.

More Than a Feeling - Boston
Probably my favourite thing written by Tom Scholz. It's nice and up-beat and quite optimistic to listen to.

Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve
Alright, so it's a bit depressing but that doesn't make it bad. I've always liked Richard Ashcroft and this is the best thing he's done as far as I'm concerned.

Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley
By far my favourite version of it, this is one of the few times the cover is better than the original. His voice just brings something entirely different to the song.

That's pretty much the final order, although things do tend to jump around a lot. There are far too many awesome songs that aren't on that list though. ):

No particular order.

Welcome to Paradise - Green Day
This song is just a good fast-paced song. Probably one of the punkier songs off of Dookie as well, which I guess sounds odd considering they are pop-punk.

Master of Puppets - Metallica
Where do I start with this song? It has MULTIPLE catchy riffs (the chorus being mind-blowingly awesome), as well as being separated into a couple of parts. It feels like an epic, so it is epic.

A.I.R - Anthrax
The first Anthrax song I heard, and still my favorite. The main riff just begs to be headbanged to.

Armatage Shanks - Green Day
The first time I heard the vocals in the chorus, I was hooked. Simple enough.

Sargasso Sea - Scale the Summit
It's epic, like Master of Puppets. Unlike Master of Puppets, there are no vocals. NONE. The fact that they only use odd variations of guitars (8-string and 7-string) should be enough to earn them at least one song on this list.

Obfuscation - Between the Buried and Me
Screaming vocals aren't usually my thing. However, the awesome riffs and drums in the song more than make up for it. Oh, and, screaming or not, the "Close one eye, step to the side" sounds awesome.

Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
The only song to stay on my playlists for as long as I can remember. Even when my musical tastes changed, I still loved this song. I still do to this day. The gradual build-up to an explosive solo and a total rock-out riff make this song.

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
They stuffed this song full of musical goodness. The slow part at the beginning just churns my stomach. I can feel this persons pain. The "courtroom" part just begs to be sung along to, even if nobody can understand the lyrics. The "rock out" part is awesome, just like Stairway's is. Then everything calms down to an ending that is beautiful. This song has it all.

Battery - Metallica
While not epic, it is, most certainly, kick-ass. The rhythm guitar keeps the song going, and makes it. It's sounds like machine gun fire at times. I like that in a thrash metal song.

Breaking the Law - Judas Priest
BREAKING THE LAW. BREAKING THE LAW. The most simple, yet possibly one of the most effective, choruses ever. Then the main riff... come on. Unbelievable!

Compiling a top 10 list of fav. songs is probably one of the hardest things I've ever done. I tried to pick 10 songs that, together, resemble myself and my taste in music at least a tiny bit.

So, my favorites, in random order:

* Nobuo Uematsu - To Zanarkand
There are a lot of versions of this song, but I like the Tour De Japon version best. The melody works soothing on my mind.

* Red Hot Chili Peppers - Parallel Universe
The last part of this song is rock and roll at its best: screaming guitars, a wicked bass line and a wildly yelling voice ending with feedback. Pure awesome.

* Jeff Buckley - Eternal Life
When I heard this song for the first time, I already knew I want this song played at my funeral. Jeff Buckley shows the rare art of laying real emotion in your songs. On top of that, brilliant lyrics.

* Rowwen Hèze - Blieve Loepe
This is a song by a band from the province of Limburg, The Netherlands, where I live. It is sung in a local dialect speech and features an accordeon next to a classic band line up. It is melancholic song about how people get on with their lives despite bad things happening. The song title in English would be something like 'Keep Walking'. Everyone in my family likes this band and likes this song, which makes it more special to me.

* Opeth - The Drapery Falls
One of my favorite metal songs. The song features both harsh vocals and heavy music and clean, melodic singing and accoustic guitars. A 10 minute long epic.

* John Williams - Journey To The Island
This is a song from the soundtrack of Jurassic Park. Jurassic Park is the first movie that made a lasting impression on me. I can still remember how I felt when I saw the dinosaurs walk into the screen for the first time. Listening to this track brings a bit of that magic back.

* Bob Dylan - Mr. Tambourine Man
The last few years I've grown quite fond of Bob Dylan, and Mr. Tambourine Man is without a doubt my favorite song. It makes me feel relaxed and a bit melancholic at the same time. Also as a coincidence (or not? I don't really know :P) my favourite book is dedicated to mr. Dylan for writing this song.

* Alcest - Sur L'autre Rive Je T'attendrai
A beautiful dreamy and song that reminds me of the Romantic Era. The song title means 'I will be waiting for you on the other side'.

* Faun - Rosmarin
A modern folk song about the freedom to explore, even if that means you will be visiting other worlds. The melody of this song works quite relaxing, I often whistle it when I'm about to stress out.

* Jefferson Airplane - She Has Funny Cars
I felt my favourite band should be featured in this list, so I picked my favourite song. It is the first song of 'Surrealistic Pillow', my fav. Jefferson Airplane album. Whenever I hear this song, I'm happy, since I know I'll be listening to the rest of the album to. On top of that, great party song.

1. Attack by 30 Seconds To Mars

This is my go-to song when I'm feeling really angry. I can really relate to the lyrics, especially:

"I won't suffer, be broken
Get Tired or wasted
Surrender to Nothing..." And so on. I feel this way when I'm angry, and I just feel the need to vent, but usually can't, so I just let myself get lost in this song.

2. Happy by Leona Lewis

Sounds like me, as well. I've felt this feeling of just not being happy as of late, and this song really seems to relate to me in that sense. Beautiful lyrics, as well.

3. Closer to the Edge by 30 Seconds To Mars

Well...let's just face it: 30STM is my go-to band for screaming. :8F: Jared's voice in this is just phenomenal, and the lyrics just move me.

"No, I'm not saying I'm sorry
One day, maybe we'll meet again." Yet another thought whilst being angry.

4. Champagne Supernova by Oasis
Beautiful, calming song. Oasis is also one of my favorite bands. They're epic, and should be noted as such. Song-wise, the lyrics are just calming, yet...sad, in a way.

5. The World I know by Collective Soul

BEAUTIFUL song. It's a song that actually puts a smile on my face, and also one that makes me realize how GOOD music, well, used to be. To be honest, there's not enough of songs that are like the ones from the 90s. 90s birthed some pretty good stuff.

6. Linger by The Cranberries
I relate to this song in the sense that it's like she's saying "Why are you dragging me along like this when you mean nothing by what you say?" THERE'S a position I've been in many a time. :gasp:

7. Come Back To Me by David Cook
I'm a Cookie addict. xD He's GOT to be the best American Idol winner they've had. And this song makes me think of, well something I'd say if ever I'd have to take a break or if someone I knew had to leave for a bit. "When you find you, come back to me" :8F:

8. Was it a Dream by 30 Seconds to Mars

Not necessarily an angry song, but one that gives me that sense of questioning my own life, and one I go to when I'm in that state of mind.

9. Heartbreak Warfare by John Mayer

Ah, HERE'S How I've been feeling as of late, summed up in a song. this song basically sums up the feeling of being heartbroken and wanting to do ANYTHING to fix it.

10. Gravity by John Mayer

And yes, this song is my favorite because it's Mine and Andy's song....though now I wonder if it's true, listening to the lyrics. Oh, and I just love John Mayer, too.

These aren't in any particular order, except for the first one:

1) The Goo Goo Dolls- "Iris"

My favorite song from my favorite band. I love this song for a lot of reasons. Not only is every aspect of it just beautiful musically, but a) it's an extraordinarily romantic song without even mentioning the word "love", b) it's got very real lyrics that describe specific emotions, not just general ones, c) it helped John Rzeznik get out of a songwriting slump and completely changed the band's career for the better, d) it goes really nicely with the movie it was made for (City of Angels), which was kind of depressing but really good, and e) it also fits really well with part of a story I'm writing--mainly just the theme of someone loving someone else so humbly that they don't ask for love in return, they just want them to know :inlove:

"When everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am..."

2) Sunny Day Real Estate- "Guitar And Video Games"

I posted my love for these guys on here somewhere else, but I'll say it again--they're just phenomenal, crazy raw emotional songs with amazing melodies, and this is one of their best. It mentions two of my favorite things, it (oddly) describes my life by using nonsensical lyrics, and the melody is just beautiful.

"All this time looking for love, and you want to find peace, and you find me...All this time hiding from death, and we want to be strong, but we find the true story, a tale, writing itself as we sail...What if we refuse to follow the rules of fashion?"
:D

3) Tori Amos- "Tear In Your Hand"

This was a tough one to pick--there are about 3 or 4 that I like the best, but this one just happened to stick out right now. It's a song about something simple--romantic rejection--and there are plenty of boring or bad songs about this, but Tori writes so well that she makes someone like me, who gets depressed by songs like that, absolutely love listening to it. Plus the music is just beautiful :)

"I don't believe you're leaving 'cuz me and Charles Manson like the same ice cream,
I think it's that girl,
And I think there are pieces of me you've never seen,
Maybe she's just pieces of me you've never seen, well...
You don't know the power that you have with that tear in your hand...
And maybe I ain't used to maybes smashing in a cold room..."

4) Duncan Sheik- "Wishful Thinking"

Can't express how much I love Duncan Sheik's voice. :faint: Just amazing, and he really shows it off in this song--it's a pretty mellow song throughout, but the vocals start off soft, in a normal range, and then by the end of the song he just brings it up and goes into more powerful, higher notes and a bit of nice falsetto at the end, it's just amazing, especially coupled with the lyrics. I love songs where the flow of the tune is completely fused with the emotion of the lyrics, and this is a perfect example. Have felt the things he describes in this song so many times.

"Oh no, there you go, looked away and missed the show,
How much wasted time will you survive?
Oh yeah, fooled again, don't know how and I don't know when,
Not much else to blame but wishful thinking...
And I tried to realize that I didn't look any further,
The whole of the universe plain to see
And I tried not to rely on another world or the future,
The whole of the universe is a mystery...."

5) Counting Crows- "Round Here"

This song has a great feel to it, mellow with very deep lyrics. Adam Duritz is one of my favorite lyricists ever, and this song has some of his best verses, like:

"Step out the front door like a ghost into the fog, where no one notices the contrast of white on white,
In between the moon and you, the angels get a better view of the crumbling difference between wrong and right,
I walk in the air, between the rain, through myself and back again,
Where, I don't know..."

Amazing :faint:

6) Foo Fighters- "Everlong"

This song is flippin' incredible. I love the tone/settings etc. they use for the guitars, and the chorus is great--it makes me think of really happy, exciting moments in my life :D Whenever I hear this song I jump up and down playing crazy air guitar screaming the lyrics, it's just awesome :awesome: The video's great too, classic Foo goofyness.

"And I wonder, when I sing along with you,
If everything could ever feel this real forever,
If anything could ever be this good again,
The only thing I'll ever ask of you,
You've gotta promise not to stop when I say when..."

7) Better Than Ezra- "In The Blood"

Kevin Griffin's voice = :inlove: Love this band. I got their first 3 CDs all in the same day from a discount shop, and listening to them in order, this was the first one I heard--the first track on the first album. It's got a lot of sentimental value for that reason, but it also reminds me of playing lots of guitar as a lonely teenager and being inspired by lots of guitarists who were (and still are) my heroes:

"But it's the way you move your hands,
And it's the way you understand,
And that's the reason that I'm askin',
And that's the reason that I want to know..."

I know that's probably not what these lines were written about, but for me it's kind of like a metaphor for my hero musicians having a great gift understanding their art and me wanting to learn from them. :)

8) Tonic- "Top Falls Down"

The guitar in this song is just totally badass :yay: There's an awesome "breakdown" section with a great bass part too, and great vocal work by Emerson Hart as with all their songs.

"Oh, to look into the sun, to see the shame in everyone,
So back I stand from want so near to be controlled by what I fearrrrr..."
:andry:

9) Splender- "Wallflower"

Like #6, this is another crazy air guitar "I don't care who's looking" song. There's just this great solid wall of riffs throughout, and this song probably has one of my favorite solos ever. It's about not fitting in, which is a familiar theme for me too, though I really like it the best for the music

"Nobody understands Wallflower,
Nobody gives a damn, Wallflower,
Cannot get into you, look what you made me do,
Down, I'm so down, if you kiss the dirt, well then you'll see my reflection..."

10) U2- "Acrobat"

This is one of the first songs I (sort of) learned on the guitar. I love the solo, and the lyrics are awesome--"Don't let the bastards grind you down"--it's got a great theme of trying to hang in there when the world is crazy.

"And I know you'd hit out, if you only knew who to hit,
And I'd join the movement if there was one I could believe in,
Yeah, I'd break bread and wine if there was a church I could receive in,
'Cause I need it now..."

Wow, and I can think of about a million other songs that could've gone on here too :D

In no order (because the order always changes D= )

To be honest, this one's a bit hard for me because I find I don't always like songs based on some meaning, personal connection, or hidden lyrical genius. I tend to enjoy songs based on how they sound and how well the various parts of it flow together, and from there, how often I end up listening to them again. I know the thread asked for descriptions on each one, but to be honest if I did that here, I'd basically be copy/pasting the above paragraph for just about all of them.

Still, there may be some notes on a few of them here and there :)

1) Come Cover Me - Nightwish
Easily one of my favorite songs off Wishmaster, just edging past Dead Boy's Poem and Fantasmic.

2) Invisible Touch - Genesis

3) Radio Ga-Ga - Queen
You owe your stage name to this song, Miss Germanotta :p

4) Just Another Day - Oingo Boingo
On the list due entirely to Danny Elfman's voice. I know he's done some great stuff since he left the band (Batman, the Simpsons) but Oingo Boingo is what I know him for.

5) Dead Winter Reigns - Blind Guardian

6) Baba O'Riley - The Who

7) Shot in the Dark - Ozzy Osbourne

8) The Memory Remains - Metallica
Nnnna na na na, na na na; nnna nna na na na, n-na na na na na na na, na na na-na na na~

9) Might as Well Be on Mars - Alice Cooper
I know, I know; the guy does stuff like "School's Out", "Poison", "No More Mr. Nice Guy", and my favorite song of his is the sixth track off "Hey Stoopid". Still, this is "favorite" and not "biggest hit".

10) Here Comes the Sun - The Beatles. It's probably my favorite Beatles song and it either makes me happy, or makes me happier :)

It's 3 awesome songs put together

New list...XD

10. Butterflies - Tone Damli
It's just too catchy to resist. I could listen to it over and over again. And I love the sound of her voice.

9. Love Changes - Stevie Nicks
Love the way it sounds and the lyrics. Love the way it's a giant eff of to Lindsey too.

8. evolution - Ayumi Hamasaki
Great song, starts out perfectly and has one of the best buildups I've ever heard.

7. Wild Heart - Stevie Nicks
Another great Stevie solo track. She sounds amazing and I love the story of the song and the way it's a mix between sad and uplifting.

6. Stand Back - Stevie Nicks
Fantastic song. It has an almost dancey sound that I adore.

5. Step You - Ayumi Hamsaki
Great rock song. Has a good beat and great lyrics.

4. Gold Dust Woman - Fleetwood Mac
Great song that only sounds it's best when they do it together. Amazing vocals from Stevie and amazing work from the rest.

3. Hanabi - Ayumi Hamasaki
The ballad as far as I'm concerned. So beautiful that it makes me want to cry everytime I listen to it.

2. The Chain (Live From The Dance) - Fleetwood Mac
Amazing song, but even better in this version. You can hear angry Stevie and angry Lindsey and they come together to give a hell of a performance.

1. Silver Springs - Fleetwood Mac
Any version of this song, although the lives are the best IMO. It's so well written and such an emotional song for Stevie that she's actually burst broken down singing once. Just amazing.

And that's my top ten! XD
