Yoshinori Kitase has mentioned several times that a Final Fantasy remake is not happening, or that it's budget would be too high, yet people keep asking for it.

It seems though that Square Enix may be considering a Final Fantasy 7 remake, as they asked their followers on their official twitter account, what they thought about the idea of a Final Fantasy VII remake, suggesting that they may now be considering making the game.

They then had to post a tweet telling users to stop giving feedback a couple of hours later, as they had received an incredible amount of interest. They also mentioned that work on Versus was taking up a lot of time right now, so it is unlikely that we'll see an FF7 Remake soon.

So why aren't Square jumping on this chance to make a potentially (most likely) 4 or 5 million-selling game? Or are they just denying as long as they possibly can to surprise us later?

I honestly believe this has been in development since the tech demo. (And or sometime after)
I honestly think they're pulling our leg the whole time.
I think they want development to go as smoothly and as fast as possible without audience interruption.
They'd probably leak out a press release a year ahead of release I'm sure.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a remake of it. I'm sure they're busy with other projects and if they ever do make a FF7 remake, it's going to be epic.

Oh, this crap... again.

It's not going to happen in the near future. That's been said, and it's even been said it would take 3-4 times longer to make than FFXIII. I would rather not waste 15-20 years of everyone's time by remaking a game that everyone has already played.

Waste of time, waste of money, waste of resources, the only ones that would be getting anything out of this are the fantards. considering that they actually want to wait 15-20 years for a game they've already played. :ffs:

To be honest, I think they just wanted to get an general opinion because they were curious. We all know that one day they're going to make it, because we all know that PSX FF's were the best. (FFVII = Average, FFVIII = Pretty good, FFIX = Greatest FF ever made.)

The day that they make the FFVII remake is the day that they realize that the recent FF's have been crap, and that they can't make anything "better" than FFVII.

Prepare for the influx of fanboys (both sane, and rabid) below. :ffs:

When will this kind of thread stop? Everytime I log in I always see different threads about a remake of FFVII.. I'm getting sick and tired about people talking about this..
and for square-enix.. why cant they make up their mind? sheesh.. and they are too busy working on different projects like FF vs XIII and XIV and other projects..

That's quite an estimation. FF7 enjoys legendary status for numerous reasons, its respected throughout not only gaming communities but has won numerous awards for in game composition of songs and has been a massive inspiration in terms of rpg pacing, art and graphical design and multi media integration into an incredibly well paced and endearing narrative.

To suggest only 'fantards' would gain from a remake is IMO rather wide of the mark seeing as the majority of gamers have barely heard of earlier FFs let alone played any. A remake (however bizarre it may seem to you) may give the series the lift we've all been waiting for for the better part of a decade.

I'd also be interested as to why you think FF9 is better than 7 and X. I thought it was good but it seemed like a tribute to all the earlier FFs to me and didn't really capture the same kind of respect from me. But hey, to each his own.

In my honest option, it's over-rated. Simply stated, simply put.

If you haven't heard of the FF series, you've been living under a rock since the day you were born. -__-

If it gave the series a "face-life" I would be happy. However, I doubt it. They may remake the game and make it just like the PSX FF's which I love, but I don't like FFVII, I wouldn't play it, I wouldn't care. So all in all, I'll never see the facelift.

That is also an opinion. Like you said, "to each his own". Personally, I view FFVII to be average on all accounts and I don't like it. FFX was just fraking terrible. :mokken:

I'm going to close this simply because it isn't anything new, and I can see this thread getting out of control again.

If you want to discuss an FFVII remake, do so here.
