First of, I never saw a thread on this but if there is then apologize. Anyway Square Enix president Yoichi Wada has confirmed that the Japanese Final Fantasy XIII release will see the light of day in 2009. However, for us Western audience, whether you be from Europe, United States or Australia well we won't see this game at least after April 2010. Disappointing news for us yes, but hardly surprising. I can honestly say that I never expected Final Fantasy XIII to see a 2009 release in Europe at least. I thought the NTSC version had a chance but as soon as they announced a simultaneous release for Western fans then I knew that would also be a miracle to see a release date before 2010.

I'm sure a lot of us are disappointed by this but it was to be expected. At least we finally have a vague release date
 
Wow are you serious I really hope thay change the release date awww damn it this sucks big time!!! I guess I will kiss ffxiii goodbye for my birthday. Apil 2010 holy crap thats a long time!!!
 
Well, at least we know that they're taking their time, and it won't be rushed just for the sake of releasing it earlier.

I can wait, I just hope it's worth waiting for.

Sometimes that doesn't make that big of a difference. Lair's release date was pushed back yet that got slammed for glitches and poor controls. Too Human had been in development for just under 10 years. Originally a PlayStation 1 exclusive, then a GameCube exclusive then finally a Microsoft exclusive yet this game was also slated for it's poor controls as well as many other factors.

Then again, Final Fantasy XIII as far as we know isn't a delay as some people on other forums are misunderstanding it as a delay. Really as soon as the Japanese version is complete they start to localize it as well as porting to the Xbox 360. It depends when the Japanese version does get's released to be able to tell the difference but rumours have it that they will get the game in the summer. If that is the case then I really don't think it should take them almost a year to release it to the world.
 
Sure Lair was pushed back and still had issues, but Final Fantasy aren't exactly known for being glitchy games. And if they had them, it was a game from quite some time ago and it was few and far between. It can take time to fix glitches and put on last touches, at least in the final month or couple weeks. But that's a long way from about a month to 2010. I don't know what game designers do.

I'm not going to bother speculating why it will take as long as it does. It is what it is, so we will just have to wait. Which I have no big problem for, there can be a lot of other RPG's in between then that will more than keep me company.
 
Is the whole compilation being released together? Or will Versus be out sooner/later?
 
wow although im glad theyre putting the effort in, 2010 is a long long way ayway, im quite gutted actually.
 
It was mentioned somewhere in one of the news threads that it'll be April 2010-ish. I'm really not surprised though, the demo is only set for March+ and after that there's a few months in which everything needs to be sorted, so 2010 doesn't surprise me.
All being said, more time spent on a game doesn't necessarily mean it's gonna be any good.
 
They sure like to take their sweet time.
But this means I have about 70 euro's more to spend this summer.
Think I might take a trip on the Shinkansen. Although that isn't nearly as good as playing Final Fantasy. :(
 
Awww man, going on this rate... I wouldn't be surprised if we have to wait another 3 or 4 years for Versus to come out. Boo-dawg.

Is there any progress reports on how Agito is doing? Out of the three, I find this one to be the most intriguing in terms of gameplay and player-character interaction.

Also, I heard that the North American release of Advent Children Complete won't include the FFXIII demo. Is this true?
 
Doesn't bother me big boy, Still got alot of games to finish off before hand. I'm sure when the time comes though that SE will make up for it though. Like the Dark Aeons on X etc...

Just read about this, I find it a little disappointing. Hope Square makes it worth our wild, we'll see what happens....there is plenty of do from when it was suppose to be released until it will be released.
 
It is a tad dissapointing, but well, it's not liek I don't have other things to keep me occupied in the meantime, it jsut feels like this game has been in development foreverrrrr, and I dont fancy finally getting it an d being disapointed D:

I think what is hard for a lot of final fantasy fans, the release dates between games was never that long in between...the wait between X and XII was what, about 4 or 5 years and this is looking at 3 to almost 4 years since XII, this will probably end up being the second longest between times for a release of a major Final Fantasy game. It just seems of late the time between releases has been a lot compared to how it was before hand
 
Damn that sucks, oh well I'm just going to have to wait a while. I hate the way he said "April - 2010 at the earliest" meaning it will probably be even later. But at least I have a general idea of when it will be released now, so I won't get my hopes up for a 2009 release.
 
I figured Japan would be getting the game at least a good 6 months before we see it in the U.S. or in Europe.

I'm glad they have a rough date out so that it's not all left mainly to speculation and rumors. April '10 give them still enough time to add whatever they can into the game. Actually, they will have basically everything done before it's released in Japan. The time between them getting it and us is really left just up to the translation parts.
 
2010 aint that far away it's only a year, i'm sure that there is gonna be many game out this year to occupy our gaming needs. Jus think about it, the longer they take the better quality of game they will throw out to us at the end, it's gonna be worth it i'm sure of it.

And as for Versus well i think that will be coming to us about a year afterwards latest, either way just aslong as i get to play some form of FF XIII in 2010 i'll be a happy biatch.

Yeah, I am in that same boat, I might buy one as a graduation present to myself when I graduate from college in may. I have plenty of Final Fantasies to finish, I am playing V right now and want to replay VI, and might try and pick up III for the DS if I get some time
