SOTW 159 Voting Thread

The theme this week is Summer. Please remember, that while posting isn't necessary in order to count your vote, it is encouraged.

Also, please remember that you CANNOT vote for your own entry, and you will be disqualified from this SOTW, and the next two SOTWs if you do so.

I voted for #1.

I love the beach theme and the text is really neat.

The patterns sort of remind me of what would be on a pair of boardies as well, so it gives more of a Summer vibe.

Nice lighting though I feel the colours were a little too dark over on the right.

Other than that great work. =)

 

[Sexy Beast]

For this one #3 gmv.

I loved the lighting in it, and the text was even better. #2 was good, but i felt the effects overpowered the stock, and there wasn't much clarity for the actual theme to come into play; whereas the flowers in number 3 presented a much more clear view of "summertime", and it was much more sufficent in the theme's overall meaning; thus the reason why i picked it.

Very nice work but entry number 1 is my favorite out of the 3. It reminds me of like a tropical paradise. I love the use of colors, it flows very well and I also like how I focus on the entire sig and not have a stock as a focal point.

number 1 gets my vote and its defiantely the best tag out there.
the texts been put in there really nicely but the topaz filter really kills it imo =/
without the surfs up text i wouldnt know what i was looking at tbh. although the filter gives it a really nice finish it kills all the realism and depth aspects i think.

I really like this one. Obviously the stock is the stock and it doesn't seem like there had been much done to manipulate it but I think the overall feeling of the sig is captured by the color. The text is great too. Ripply and broken up like the subject. This gets my vote.

2)

I'm not sure about the orientation of this. I really can't help but tilt my head to see the stock in focus, which isn't a good thing for me, personally. Otherwise I think the colors are great. It's unified, and I think the combination of orange and purple are really appealing. Overall the signature is simple yet elegant and attractive.

3)

This is interesting. It's really bright, but I think the overall orange of the flowers counteracts that so it's not TOO bright for the eyes. Otherwise, I would've like to have seen more effects than just the dots. :\

The text needs to be worked on. Although I think it's pretty good, the word flowers doesn't really pop out and in fact kind of just turns invisible if you're on the wrong kind of monitor.

I'm not voting. I just wanna give my two cents.

1.
I like the overall feel this one has, but for the life of me I can't see what it is... Everyone's mentioning a beach theme, is it a wave...? =/ I might just be really retarded, but to me it just looked like gradient maps with ripple effects. I really can't see what it is, and that's probably just me.

The text looks great, I really like the arrow like things at the bottom left corner. The small "Summer 2010" tucked in there looks nice, and isn't taking away the main text focal.

I second that opinion. Although I think the splatter on her face should've been lowered in opacity or cleaned up, in my opinion. =) The cream colours, pink, and purples compliment each other nicely I think.

I'm not sure about this one... I think the flower on the right is too big... I think the whole picture, were it cropped more, it would've made for a nice field filled with flowers, it looks a bit overwhelming to me at the moment. The colours, are gorgeous however.

I think the text was a little too big, and out there, the "flowers" part is a little harsh to read on my screen. Overall, I really liked the idea behind this one.... Although.... Tulips? Spring?

1 GMV. It took me a while to release it was a surfer on a wave but it has interesting text and colours. A different type of stock you usually see being used so that was nice.

2 had a strange orientation and I'm not too sure about the effects.

3 captures the theme well but the text let it down IMO. Removing the text and adjusting the lighting would have been a better choice I think.

Voted for #3.
Simply beautiful. It captures the theme, I suppose, but it reminds me more of spring. Also, it's lacking a little depth, and I personally thought that the little glow behind "flowers" was unnecessary, it's overall a very good sig. IMHO, it was the best of the three.

# 3 primarily because it had the most smooth effects added to it, and not to many to botch it. So great job this week.

As for the others, good job.

#2 is sexy as hell, though close 2nd in my opinion.

#1 Yours would of been the best if I could of read your text all the way.
