slow service

I never tip for bad service... well, technically, that's a lie. When I get shitty service at a diner or something, I leave one penny. :mokken:

However, if I got some motherfucking badass service, I make sure to tip generously. One time, this one chick at a place I went to always had my drink filled when it was near empty, made small conversation, and was on the fucking ball. Plus, she was cute, so I put $20 down. :ryan:

But yeah, shit service = a one penny tip. Because I'm an asshole. :mokken:

i dont ever tip. waitresses get paid plenty. more than i do no doubt so they can fuck right off.

they get paid to serve people, thats their job.

I went into the shop today as you do. Didnt really buy all that much, i had 6 items in my basket which isnt alot. I was in poundland just for the sake of putting it out there.
I went up to pay and the queues were fairly short. Theres 8 tills and only 2 people were serving. Theres only maybe 4 people in front of myself but it took forever to get down to me. When i got to the til she asked me if i needed a bag?? Well yeah of course im gunna need a bag. Its not gunna fit in mypocket now is it =p? Which is exactly what i said to her.

In all honesty, as someone who has worked in a grocery store before, whenever I'm servicing sarcastic or rude customers, I purposely go slowly just to piss 'em off. It usually works nicely, AND I get some satisfaction.

I worked in a shop for 7 months pal so its not like i dont know. I alwyas do my bit at work. Alwyas.
Theyre just lazy bastards, simple as that. Ive seen myself goin up with a full basket of items and being asked if i need a bag. Its common fucking sense. Of course i need a bag. Im not gunna walk up the road with 15+ items in my hand am i? Its ridiculous to even ask that question.

the satisfaction of getting sacked when people constantly complain :dave:

you cant complain about them cause the customer's always right ;)

I must admit, customers as a whole are the most annoying cunts ever. i'l never work in retail ever again.

I worked at a farmfoods for 5 months and i came across some really nasty people but i got some nice ones too. They made me work sundays all morning :( and i was slow on purpose so they would move me to another day.

Im glad i dont work there anymore its just crap living.

xx

I don't mean to sound condescending. I just don't believe treating grocery store peons poorly is a good way to get out of there any faster. It's true that it's common sense, but in many shops or grocery stores, employees are required to ask certain questions--even if the answer to them is obvious.

I wouldn't recommend making a habit out of going slowly if you care about your job; however, most employers in retail will humor a customer who has a complaint about an employee. Unless, of course, the complaint is about something serious. They'll nod and insist something will get done about it. Afterwards, they may speak with you and give you a minor warning. More often than not, they'll do nothing with the understanding that the customer is a jackass who'd complain about anything just for the sake of complaining.

If anyone can sympathize with an employee who despises whinny customers, it's the manager who has to deal with EVERY one of 'em.

Not here they don't. :wacky:

It was someone somewhere's bright idea that waitresses should make their entire salary on tips. The base pay is something like $2.13/hr or at least it was back when I was working in a restaurant. I doubt it's much more now.

As for slow service, I hate it myself. There's this one restaurant near where I live; every time my boyfriend and I go there, the service is just unbelievably slow. I mean, it takes someone ten minutes to finally get to your table and then another ten to get back with drinks, etc. It's just horrible.

And don't get me started on Wal-Mart. They have like twenty lanes and only four of them open every time we're in there. You would think they'd realize that the store is always fucking busy so they need more lanes open. They don't have self-service at this one either and the express lanes are rarely open. There's nothing more infuriating than picking up two items and then having to go stand behind three customers with full carts. :ffs:

i know about that :wacky:

i take a firm mr pink stance on this though. in the uk theyre on at least minimum wage which is somewhere near what i get paid per hour so unless they give me a dance or sing me a song they're getting sweet fuck all. mind you i spose a lot of restaurants incorporate their "service" charge in (here anyway).

i think the way it works in america has sort of brushed off on the world and in a lot of places - even here now - they almost expect a tip.

I was absolutely enraged when the bill came for dinner last week and there was a service charge added to it, it said it was 'optional' but they know fine well no ones gunna say out

Stupid thing is Id of probably left a few quid anyway, but take that choice away from me and Im no happy

The service wasn't bad, sure, but fucking hell, it was by no means a cheap place to go eat in the first place with out bumping an extra few quid on without asking

I'm absolutely of the same as Jim on this, I don't earn alot either, so why should I tip? I don't get tips in my job and if we both earn the same wage, why should my wages top theirs up? We all choose to go into the lines of work that we do so don't pissing expect anything more for it unless I feel like you have provided above average service.

/me revives thread.

The other week the sister and I went to flight centre to book our holiday to QLD and usually I see this one girl but she wasn't there so I had to see some other girl and omg....she was so.....effing.......slow...........

I had a 1 hour lunch break, I thought that would be enough time for someone to book in the flights and the hotel, specially because I had already done most of the work for her and told her exactly what i wanted, but somehow the process took an hour and a half. I can't even recall how it took that long :S

She typed with one finger, pressing each key with a 5 second gap between them, she slowly reached to the stapler and stapled the paper in slow mo. She talked slow and very quiet so I constantly had to ask her to repeat herself which took even longer.

Then at the end she'd spelled my name wrong so she had to go back in and fix it, then print it out again then staple it all again. Ughhhh I was going mental sitting there for over an hour just because she moved like a sloth!!

Anyway, I finally got outta there and was late back for work :hmph: never going there again.

Those people are probably the biggest reason I hate humans. Every single effing time we go grocery shopping, they take for. Freaking. Ever, to ring up our stuff. Not only that, but they also have an attitude about it. They should just be thankful they have a goddamn job. Then to top it all off, they stop right in the middle of it to talk to "Deyz Gurlfriend". Luckily, my dad has been bagging his whole life. So he's friggin fast with that. I'm glad he's not in the grocery business. I can't stand those people. I hope every time they go shopping. The person that does it for them takes forever too.

It's annoying, I agree. But you also have to think about the other side of the story sometimes (Which no one really EVER does tbh) maybe they are having a shit day or have something else going on. I DON'T think they are personally TRYING to be slow. I'm not siding with them either. Some people need to just pick up the pace.
