RPG Inferno Suggestions Thread

I'm sorry, but I've seen spells miss a lot lately even maxed out, so spells have quite a high chance of missing as well. Also, a 3o decrease in Dexterity does not make up for 1200 extra points of damage. And in PVP, a warrior can use a pet, naturally efficient in magic, to compensate for their magical weakness. Meaning we're screwed. And we only have so much MP to actually do damage while a warrior with high HP has no such problem. It's blatantly unbalanced.

Hope you get your teeth sorted soon Koloth. I can understand it's been causing you pain.

Okay... I'm looking at this in the most unbiased way possible.

Let's take three members of my Clan for instance.

Mitsuru - The most damage he can deal is around... 400. 500 if he uses Excaliber. Even with his Magic stat as high as it is, he's lucky to hit for 300 a turn. I've seen him in fights myself.

Tatheria - She dual wields daggers. Most I've ever seen her pull off is when she was berserked and with Hit & Run. Around 1,200 damage ish.

Astronema - She uses a single sword. Yet she's able to hit over 2k.

It's not fair that mages hit for so low damage. Spells are no way more accurate than melee. Mitsuru missed four times in a row in one battle. Not to mention the other misses. So not only does he have to deal with extremely low capped damage, he also has to deal with missing... alot. As well as burning MP which melee classes don't.

Not only that, but saying that the bar has a -80 strength for ideal classes to not make Dual wielders overpowered?

How are dual wielders overpowered if they can barely hit for 1,2k damage and single wielders are able to deal over 2k? Giving single wielders a strong component bar is going to raise that yet the dual wielders are left with low strength weapons... because THEY are overpowered? 8(

I fail to see how they are.

400/500 damage if lucky + miss + mp... as opposed to 2k damage with low chance to miss, especially with high dex.

and then 1/1,2k at an absolute PUSH.

I'm looking at PvE, not PvP as most people don't like to PvP.

:hmmm:

I'm just a little bit confused.

So... we have to get a total decrease in it so we can't use it at all. Okay. That wouldn't be so bad, tbh, other than the fact that I just sunk about 50 points into welding to be able to have stronger weapons... lovely. Dual wielding is going to be strongly discouraged then, I suppose? I'm not going to be changing my weapon, though. I happen to like daggers, and I'll be sticking with them.

Oh well, I'm not going to argue it. Not like there's anything I can do... despite the fact that I'm slightly pissed about the 50 points I wasted. :3

I just noticed this post. It appears that you did not try Culex yet. As a reward, you get some nice daggers with a pretty cool attack type.

That 50 points, in welding, may come in handy in the future. :)

Koloth, I have to agree with Vikki here... :hmmm: With 350 DEX, I never miss, and the attack type I use never fails, while if even just a bit unlucky, spells tend to miss on a regular basis, as I see it spells are missing...considerable more than the physical attacks. <_<

So I don't really see how this compensates for the spells dealing much less than half the damage and consuming the user's limited supply of MP... For the stats being higher now, lowering a stat by 30 points really isn't going to turn any tables either, so that's not really a very valid argument...

But yeah, hope your teeth get doing better soon, taking care of those ones causing the pain should hopefully help relieve it, just a little over two more weeks till then I guess.

Ok so I will check into the 3rd tier spells. Also, people who are complaining about duel weld should fight Culex for the daggers and attack type. You cannot team. Come on people, be more interested in taking challenges.

edit:

The 3rd tier spells have been added to the Gaia Merchant. You will need to have beaten Culex to obtain them. Their max damage is 1k and you can lower opponents stats by 100.

Ok I just started playing again for the first time since april 07 and I've seen some pros and a LOT of cons. I can side with the people that said they played for 10 or so min and then quit (see anyone still playing anymore) There's no guides on anything from what I can see. Maybe hidden because its a very old post. Every game has some form of info on the classes and stats to that class so they get an idea on what to lvl.

Now I knew what most the stats do but not everything. Some detailed info on the in a guide would be nice.

I don't know if its by design but you start off with no gear and only 3 weapons are sold at the first town. Now I hed a very hard time getting by with only a sword. By CHANCE I found out that you can craft armor. That got me through the second town alive.

In the first town there's a NPC who tells you of a girl who wants to go to the 2nd town but I could never find her.

I got a pet who could do nothing at all but cast cure. Could not learn any other spells and such.

More to come later when I get farther after my ban is lifted (I clicked rob the bank by mistake)

I just checked the help files and yes it is completely empty. I imagine that is something that needs to be corrected. I guess it got wiped out during some server move.

However, the store, in the first town, sells free books on RPG Basics.

I will work on Help Files to get them to something players can use.

Ya I bought all the books, they still dont do anything lol

Did you go to books in your inventory and actually read what they tell you? They help out a great deal when your just starting.

And the Alicia pet was given that only spell on purpose. You will get better help later on, don't worry. ;))

Yep Ive read all the books.

RPG Basics - Getting equipped: only tells you about how to equip (already knew that) The only "gear" you can get at the start are 3 weapons no armor. You get access to your first armor in Dipan town. The lack of gear and getting your but handed to you is not fun lol

RPG Basics - To explore new worlds: If you cant figure out to move that helps (already knew how to move)

RPG Basics - Look before you leap!: you kinda find out about this your self. I like to click on almost all options to see what they are lol but thats just me.

RPG Basics - Procure-on-site: A new player wont understand this. Yes its common sense that mobs drop loot BUT what does the loot do?

RPG Basics - A good defense overcomes a strong offense!: tells you some good info but does not go into detail on what each stat does some people wont know.

RPG Basics - Your first battle!: great for people that are new to RPGs and such

RPG Basics - Speaking to NPCs: If you dont know to talk to NPCs then RPGs are defently not for you lol

RPG Basics - Attack Types: Good info to learn but when do you get an attack type? The first one I seen seems to be for rogues only. I'm not using a dagger or claw Im using a sword and shield

Here are some suggestions and problems I'm having now

1. Add some low lvl armor or have a guide/book that teaches you how to craft and to make your own armor. I found crafting by luck. I was looking though my invatory and found it. The weak armor I crafted gave me the boost I needed to move on.

2. NPC group members. In the first town theres talk of a girl who's looking to travel to Dipan. To me you need to find her and she joins your party to help you though but I have never found her. Made it on my own

3. Add more attack types for other weapons and such. Being forced using a dagger or claw dampers a persons enjoyment in forging there own type of character and playing style.

4. Im now stuck. I killed the Fire Dragon at lvl 15. Got to the next area only to be told Im stuck there till lvl 35 and kill Ifirit lol I dont see another area to go and again being forced to do something to get farther in the game >_<

I could've sworn I wrote a book on components :hmmm: my bad :sad3:

As for the girl, since trigger given Pets will get screwed up if you level them up, we had to put her in the Shop, you should see her under the 'pets' link :hmmm:

And the grind there is meant to stop players storming from one area to the next :gasp:

well the help section was all deleted Etna. Also the stranger said I needed to be lvl 35 AND kill Ifirit. Well wheres Ifirit lol

At the Fire Cavern. I think you have to be Level 20 before you can get there though, believe those areas have a level minimum that you must reach before the NPC Jecht at the Dipan Tavern grants you access to them.

Both the Fire Cavern areas and the ones that "stranger" you referred to leads you once you are Level 35 or higher and, basically, have cleared all of the Fire Cavern areas (since Ifrit is the boss you have to defeat to access the last area of it, so yeah), are works of mine of which I hope you enjoy. :monster:

Also any sets of areas accessed from anywhere within these areas would be of my creation, so if you have any questions about them, feel free to ask me. ;)

Koloth also has some areas of his own, of which start in the Dipan Tavern Cellar, so you could check that out sometime too, though the boss battle at the end of his second set of areas is brutal, I couldn't defeat it revisiting it at a significantly higher level, so beware of that. :gasp:

heres another suggestion, how about the ability to use spells out of combat? Spells like heal and such

I haven't really gone far enough in the game so this might not be much of a problem, but I do think the Gil/Exp ratio is slightly unbalanced.

I'm at level 28 at the moment, so 7 more levels until I can progress to the next level after that Fire Cavern. I currently have around 120,000gil in my bank, and I'll probably be looking at maybe doubling this by the time I reach lv.35 seeming as I have nothing to buy barring a few potions.

Now I don't know the prices for the next stage of weapons and spells, but I do find this amount of money a bit weird, seeming as the most expensive thing I can buy at the moment is the Berserk spell at 10,000gil.

If the next set of weapons costs about 60,000gil on average then fair enough, but if not, I'll be slightly disappointed seeming as you're pretty much guaranteed to be rich because of the need to level up. I want to reward myself with expensive weapons and spells, not just buy out the whole shop on my first visit.

I don't really know what to suggest for a solution (apart from raise the Exp given), plus this may not actually end up being a problem at all, but I do find it frustrating how my bank is getting loaded while I watch my Exp bar rise slowly and slowly.

Not a major thing, but perhaps smaller images for monsters? =/ I hate going into battle and having my screen all stretched out, because scrolling is a bit of a pain, you know? I'm sure GFXers would be happy to resize some images (I know I would) and you can even do it in paint or something.

I know where you're coming from here, I only have a small screen myself and a few of the current images stretch my screen something awful. It has been brought up in the past though and we'll definitely take note of it for the future.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but a bank of some sorts would be good, i mean i'm not out of the first area yet, but i've saved up a fair bit of gil that i don't want to lose if i end up being KO'd.

There's a bank in... Dipan, which is several areas after the first one. You'll just have to try not to die, really, since I don't think Solde has a bank, just an Inn. =/
