[RP] Final Fantasy IX: Scars of Terra

"Oh, come to my room, Robert has a request for us, a mission from King Puck of Burmecia. Come on!"

"I wonder what our friendly neighbourhood 'hero' wants of us now"

Following after Annelise, having no idea where her room was he had to do so, entering her room he stood himself against the wall by the door, removing his katana from the belt as he leant against the wall and rested the hilt on his shoulder.

Listening to Robert's battle plan, he began to question to himself why Alexandrian Knights were now being told what to do be a foreign power, ultimately they weren't Alexandria's problem and alliance or not, were the Burmecian's even authorised to give out orders to a Foreign army? Unable to restrain himself, he felt it was in the interests of himself and Annelise to know where they stood, both being Alexandrian Knights.

"I have one question, who died and made you leader? Or more specifically, who gave Burmecia authority to command another country's soldiers? Do you even have consent from Queen Garnet to use her troops? Rescue mission or no, we're not Mercenaries, we're soldiers and we only answer to our Country, nobody else's"

While Ricard had no interest in putting his country's honour or pride or whatever on the line, he did make it his interest in not sticking his neck out needlessly, especially when he didn't have to.

"And on a somewhat related note, is Burmecia truly so lacking in a military that it needs a small force of Knights who just crash landed here to rescue one of it's most important power figures? It was my understanding that Burmecia was a well established military powerhouse, or is my understanding mistaken?"

While the mocking was unintentional, he still found it remarkably out of character of what he would expect of a country, freshly built or not to so quickly rely on randomers, they even included civilians in their number. Such a decision did not sound particularly wise, even if their King was young, there was a limit to how much ill choice a King could make.

Alleria Stormseeker

Alleria was no Burmercian, but she definitely had something against being so rude to Robert - who is representing his kingdom. Thinking in the shoes of Robert, she knew for a fact that she would be terribly insulted. True, they were not directly under the jurisdiction of the Kingdom of Burmercia, but orders were orders.

She did not understand how a Knight like him - a Pluto Knight, no less - could treat his mission so flippantly. Their original mission was to go to Cleyra's aid, just because they were sidetracked ought not be a reason to hold them back.

Or perhaps the female Knight disliked the direction the discussion was going. Honor and discipline are the most important virtue that she firmly adhered to.

"Watch your words!"

She wanted to add 'Ricard', but she wasn't sure if she was addressing the right person. For one, being dressed in an unusually outlandish way doesn't help identify him. Coming in with Annelise though, did leave a small hint, but it confirmed nothing.

Wrinkling her brows together, she got up, jabbing a finger at 'Ricard'.

"We're Knights! We're tools. Our body is for the mission, and our minds have to be nothing but the mission. Why question all these details and not focus on the pressing issue at hand? Our mission is to help Cleyra. Why bother about who directs us unless we see to that goal? Isn't that what Alexandria dispatched the Knights for in the first place?"

Her voice was harsh, and aggressive. She had never been so deeply offended before until now. Still, she had to admit, it may have been an overreaction on her part, but for the time being, it wasn't a notion she would entertain.

[OOC: Mortel Never got a chance to start the rivalry. This might well start it :D]

OOC: Unintentional way to kick it off, nice thinking :lew:

"We're Knights! We're tools. Our body is for the mission, and our minds have to be nothing but the mission. Why question all these details and not focus on the pressing issue at hand? Our mission is to help Cleyra. Why bother about who directs us unless we see to that goal? Isn't that what Alexandria dispatched the Knights for in the first place?"

Ricard looked over to the direction of Alleria, a woman and warrior to whom he had not yet been introduced, certainly not a preferable way of kickstarting a friendship, but Ricard was hardly the type who sought friendship in every person he met.

"If you want to be a mindless drone, be my guest. Me? I'd rather have all the facts down and think for myself, as long as my actions comply with Alexandria's thought patterns I fail to see the problem here. Unless i'm mistaken our mission here was to support Cleyra in their battle, with that mission unsuccessful we have no business jumping into the Lion's den until a superior from Alexandria steps up and says jump"

Moving off of the wall Ricard walked to face the entire group, facing opposite of Robert, yet addressing Alleria in particular

"Pressing issue or not, like I said i'm no Merc, I don't go with whatever the next person says for neither coin nor honour. Whether it's a person's idea of the 'right thing to do' or not doesn't concern me, if you're so intent on going then do as you please. I personally don't see any reason to go until Alexandria says so. Our priorities may have changed but our mission has not, and i'm sure the mission concerns you more? Especially since you like the rest of us failed to accomplish it"

Ricard crouched down at this point, resting the tip of his katana's sheath against the ground while holding it with his right hand and looked forward.

"So, to summarise, I don't see why we should stick our necks out under the assumption that it 'follows out mission' when it's obvious the war against Cleyra is lost and out presence here is no longer required, if nothing else we should be making our way to Alexandria, we have absolutely no reason to remain. Besides, don't you think Queen Garnet would like to hear that Oeilvert shot down one of our Airships? It'd be common sense that they mean to attack Alexandria soon and i'm sure she wouldn't want Alexandria taken in by a surprise attack. Even if we have deployed Mognet or whatever kind of Messenger, further involvement won't do us any favours, why not let the Burmecians deal with Burmecian problems rather than stick our noses where they don't belong?"

OOC2: Wow, I really am making Ricard talk too much :lew:

Robert Crescent

Robert looked over at Ricard. "Then leave. It's as simple as that. The Alexandrian squad was sent to aid Burmecia and Cleyra. Maybe you don't care about the thousands of lives that are at Oeilvert's mercy, but I do. Maybe you could care less about a people just coming back from the brink of extinction because of a power-hungry bitch named Brahne, but they are my people. You call yourself a knight, but a real knight fights for the sake of the lives of others." Robert snapped at Ricard.

"I am simply relaying the message given to me. You don't want to be here, then leave. Those who wish to stay and help may do so. The king needs the majority of his forces here to defend so that the enemy will be unable to take this country, but so long as they have the people of Cleyra, they have a bargaining chip, and will most likely not hesitate to kill those people to get what they want. And it's a chip that can be used not only against Burmecia, but against Alexandria as well. Both Queen Garnet and King Zidane are strongly allied with Burmecia and are personal friends of my mother. If you want to deal with explaining yourself to them, be my guest." Robert spoke in a clear and precise tone of voice.

Once he calmed, he looked over Lan. "In regards to your concern, there's no need to worry. My mother's company of knights will be distraction enough. They are professionals, and my mother has drilled them over on the mission itself, back up plans and fail-safes. We will meet some resistance, but we also have people on the inside who's job it is to make sure no alarms are sounded. I know Cleyra's layout quite well. So long as they haven't moved Samuel, we should be able to find him." Robert explained.

"So then, those who wish to stay and help, we leave in the hour. Those who don't, don't come. King Puck has already sent messengers to both Alexandria and Lindblum regarding what has happened to inform Queen Garnet and Princess Eiko on the summoner issue." Robert finalized.

Annelise overheard the arguments on what to do next, and with the argument ongoing between Robert, Ricard and Alleria, Annelise had to make an intervention.

"Excuse me, Robert, but can you excuse me for a moment?" Annelise said to the Burmecian before grabbing Ricard's arm and moving him to the corridor. Once there she said, "I don't know about you, but I'm going, whether or not it is an order from Alexandria." To be honest, although it wasn't a part of her duty to Alexandria it was her goal as a knight. "I'm going because it is my duty as a knight. To protect the people from those who wish to do harm, even if it is not for Alexandria's sake..."

Letting go of Ricard's arm, Annelise finally said, "I would be feel more comfortable if you came with me, not just as a comrade, but as a friend."

Ricard found himself being dragged out of the room by Annelise, almost dropping his Katana in the process, listening to what she said, the last part surprised him, considering how flustered she was getting before.

"He, well I suppose you've twisted my arm, can't let you go on your own to represent Alexandria, i'll go on one condition though. I do things my way, put simply i'm not taking orders from him, if there's nothing else though..."

Before Ricard could finish his sentence he heard a faint sound from the rooftops above him, wondering if it was 'her' again he gripped his katana ready and began to walk off to find her before remembering Annelise was still there.

"Oh and one last thing, i'd try and keep Robert's mouth shut a little more, I doubt Garnet would approve of him referring to her mother as a 'bitch' last thing we need now is friction in this alliance we have to go along with. It already sickens me that we're apparently Burmecia's lapdogs when the moment calls for it"

At that he began to break into a run before getting outside, as relaxing as the rain was, he knew someone was out there.

Lan Ester

Listening to Rob, Lan nodded as he jumped off of the rafters his tail held on. "I guess it'll work. I might as well get ready. Come on Ri. Let's grab some supplies. We might as well be prepared for the worst if it comes to it." Lan said as he left the room only to crash into the back of Anne, staggering backward as he regained his balance.

"Anne? You ok? You looking nervous there. You wanna grab something to eat while we grab supplies before heading to Clerya?" Lan asked looking at the brown haired knight.

Alleria Stormseeker

The argument quickly resolved itself with Robert's intervention - albeit with a rather crude choice of words. Referring to a country's ex-leader as a 'bitch' was no doubt inappropriate, more so considering the fact that Brahne was considered to once be one of the better monarchs in the history of Alexandria.

Still, she did not want to start a fresh new argument.

Not my problem if he embarrasses himself with his own words, she thought to herself as she listened to Robert finalizing the plans.

As soon as he finished up, Alleria got up and left. Although the argument had ended for now, her quarrel was not finished. In fact, it's gotten far beyond just words. She wanted to resolve it in a duel - and also conveniently because he is a Pluto Knight.

Noticing Lan, Rior and Annelise outside without Ricard, she figured he either went back to his own room or left the inn. Putting her money on the latter, she quickly left the inn as well, leaving the trio to their own conversation.

Stepping out into the light rain, she glanced around the grey landscapes of Burmercia. It didn't take her long to notice Ricard. With his white shirt under his brown vest, and not to mention, his hulking size, she easily caught sight of him and went for him.

"Hey. It's not over yet!"

Inappropriate or not, Alleria was far too deep into the notion of dueling to consider the consequences.

"Let's duel."

~~~~~~~~~~~
Garnet Til Alexandros XVII 'Dagger'
"What?!"
Garnet couldn't believe her ears. She had just returned to her chambers when another guard came in to report the latest news.
"So Oeilvert has struck," She muttered to herself, frowning at this recent revelation. "Are our people safe?"
The guard lowered her head, and Garnet feared the worst.
"Only a handful survived. Annelise, daughter of Steiner, survived. Robert Crescent, son of Fratley, as well. The representative from Ipsen, and another Pluto Knight."
Hearing the names of Annelise and Robert eased her fears. The last thing she would have wanted was to hear was the death of the two. She owed Steiner and Freya a lot back then during the war - more so when they decided to send their children in their footsteps.
Nevertheless, focusing back on the issue at hand, she got the guard to proceed. King Puck had apparently not deviated from the original mission to send in men to Cleyra's aid. In any case, that was an order that was already passed down.
It was just formality that she heard of it now, but she was grateful for it nonetheless.
"Thank you. Please send back a message to King Puck telling him that I have received his message, and would look forward to hearing of the results of the mission. And send word to Zidane."
Listening out for the sound of whoever was watching him from the rooftops, Ricard tried to focus on that area as the rain constantly threatened to disrupt this. To top off this difficulty, he ended up hearing one of his allies-by-circumstance approach, saying something both predictable, yet unexpected.
"Let's duel."
"... No thank you, now be quiet for a moment..."
Ricard heard the faint sound of a heavy footstep from the roof of the Inn's attic, not waiting for Alleria's response to his quick refusal he leapt up to the roof and began to run up the side, trying to find who it was spying on them.
Reaching the opposite side of the roof he spotted a dislodged roof tile, slowing his pace to lessen the noise he rounded the next corner as he saw a sillhouette fall to the ground. Dashing towards it he looked over the roof to find it had disappeared, from what he could make out, they were female at least and obviously not highly experienced, they'd probably smoke themselves out before they had to leave. In either event, Ricard decided to look around the immediate area later tonight.
For now however he imagined Alleria wasn't the type to calmly walk away from a refused duel as he lightly jumped off the roof and started to walk back to where he last saw her.
"Whoever it was, they're gone for the time being, if you're that desperate for a duel save it for another night, i'm going to keep an eye out tonight and the last thing I need is wasted energy"
Ricard shouldered the sheathe of his Katana as he casually walked back to his room to prepare for the night patrol.
Robert Crescent
Once the room had seemingly emptied, Robert went to the window to reflect on things. The situation seemed to be settled, though it was not his best moment. Brahne used to be a good leader, but all that changed when she decided to launch a pure genocide attack on Burmecian and Cleyra. If it had not been for the efforts of Zidane, Garnet, Freya and Fratley, there would be no Burmecia, no Cleyra, and his people would be forever extinct. While he would never say so in front of Annelise, he felt rather distant about her mother Beatrix, the driving military force behind the genocide. But at least she was doing her pennence for her actions by honoring his mother's wish, that she defend Queen Garnet for the rest of her life. Given Beatrix's personal feelings, she probably would have done so without his mother's order. Still, it was a touchy subject. Even though he wasn't even born at the time, the fact that so many died because of a small handful of people deciding they wanted to exterminate the people of Burmecia and Cleyra, all for some summoning stones rubbed him the wrong way just thinking about it.
Still, right now it was all in the past. All anyone could do was deal with the present so the people of Cleyra could have a future. They would be safe in Burmecia, and the other nations could help come up with a way to resolve this conflict quickly and drive the invaders out before more people died. At least, that was his hope. All he could do for the moment was go over in his mind where Samuel's house was and the multiple paths he could take to get the small group there.
Alleria Stormseeker
Alleria was good with footwork and all, but not that good enough to literally jump up on a roof with barely any effort. Feeling challenged by this quick refusal, she quickly glanced around the building, just in time to see some crates stacked. Conveniently climbing up those crates, she made it up the roof, just in time to see him turn back.
She quickly got back down, thinking he must have lost whatever he thought he heard. At least he wasn't trying to run away from anything - that set her mind at ease for now.
Jumping back down from the roof, he said,"Whoever it was, they're gone for the time being, if you're that desperate for a duel save it for another night, i'm going to keep an eye out tonight and the last thing I need is wasted energy."
Alleria wasn't going to let this end without a fight to quell her displeasure.
Drawing her broadsword, she rushed forward and attacked him. It wasn't meant to hit, but it should do enough to start the ball rolling.
"Wasted energy? You're free to let me take over your night patrol, Knight."
Catching only a slight glimpse of her sword in time before it was about to meet him, Ricard barely managed to divert the attack with his sword.
"You really have no idea what you're dealing with, huh?"
Ricard tried to keep his distance from Alleria, maintaining a constant circling as he planned his next course, obviously this showed the woman wasn't trying to do this as some sort of friendly contest, forcing a battle like this also meant it wasn't a bad thing to ignore the battle either.
"So, why are you so determined to fight me anyway? Did I make you cry earlier? I always figured Ipsen Knights were made of stronger stuff"
Simple as that he wanted to provoke her, the quicker he baited her into an ill made attack the quicker he could disarm her and be done with this, he wasn't in any mood to start fighting pointless battles when he had more important things to worry about, plus perhaps if she was beaten by her own overconfidence she'd probably be less inclined to challenge complete strangers to duels...
Alleria Stormseeker
For a moment, Alleria was wondering if she should be happy or angry that Ricard would say that of the Ipsen Knight. From her understanding, she was here to promote the reputation of the Ipsen Knights. For him to imply that the Ipsen Knights were strong made her proud of her place, even though it also implied she wasn't good.
"Really? That's good to hear."
Focusing back on the battle, she realized this battle would not be easy. For one, she had to hold back from hurting him directly, or too severely. The last thing she wanted was a casualty. Now that would totally ruin her mission and could even go as far as weaken relationships between Ipsen and Alexandria. She would have to try to disarm Ricard as quickly as she can.
She had her Disarming Maneuver which she could use, but it may not necessarily disarm him that easily. She will need an opening, and a conversation was the best way to open up one.
That, ironically, made her realize that he had been trying to stir her emotions as well.
"And I would have thought a Knight like yourself would have just a little more honor than that."
Without giving him a chance to think too much about her words, she charged up with measured pace. For the first time, she would have to take this battle seriously and face the possible prospects of a loss. Swinging her sword in a small arc, she quickly focused on him, hoping to catch a mistake on his part.
"And I would have thought a Knight like yourself would have just a little more honor than that."
"You would, wouldn't you?"
Noting her attack Ricard responded with a quick repulsion with his blade before following up while her blade was turned with a blade of energy which, unless she could dodge this at close quarters would go right through her armour, striking the body directly with blunt force.
"How about we stop this? I see no benefit from either of us defeating the other, or is an ego boost that important to you?"
Ricard kept his katana sheathed, waiting for her next move, if this got too out of hand he might have to start using more potent attacks.
Alleria Stormseeker
As expected, the battle was getting more violent. He reacted with a quick counterattack that not only repelled her blade, but sent a wave of energy. Alleria may not have been capable of scaling buildings, but dodging such attacks at close range was relatively easier.
Still, with the speed at which the energy traveled, the blunt force struck her arms. Considering how much her Ipsen Knight training had focused on her arms, this did not hurt her as severely as it would have elsewhere.
"How about we stop this? I see no benefit from either of us defeating the other, or is an ego boost that important to you?"
It was true; except, Alleria was only fighting to reach a consensus. She was not the talking type; the saying 'action speaks louder than words' applied to her more than anything else.
Holding her attack stance with the blade in front, firmly gripped with two hands, she watched Ricard sheathe his blade. For a moment, she stared into his eyes, before she herself followed suit. Putting her blade back in it's scabbard, she preened her fringe, sighing.
"U-uh. I just w-wanted to thrash things out."
Now that the duel had ended for now, she remembered that it was still raining. Already drenched by now, she couldn't help feeling rather embarrassed. More so with this entire episode; she might have felt better ending the battle - at least there was some kind of challenge.
"U-uh. I just w-wanted to thrash things out."
"Well you certainly have a unique way of getting to know people, remind me not to date you unarmed"
As the tension of battle ceased, Ricard realised how much his clothes had been soaked, unlike Alleria who had armour, Ricard just had thin clothing, tough as he was he was just as prone to the cold as anyone else. Hiding his shivering he began to walk inside, he'd have to dry off now before the spy struck again, shouldering his Katana he tilted his head back to look at Alleria
"Maybe under better circumstances you can get whatever answer you wanted from that battle, at the very least somewhere drier would be preferred. Unlike some of the others though, I feel I can trust you to watch my back at least, so I guess I ought to thank you for attacking me"
With that said he walked back to his room, removing his clothing so it could dry while he put on one of the Inn's robes in the meantime.
"Well you certainly have a unique way of getting to know people, remind me not to date you unarmed."
Alleria didn't know what to say to that, so she kept quiet. Admittedly, being the Knight with the best swordplay saw a numerous number of Knights looking to best her in a duel. More often than not, these Knights were male, and had an axe to grind. They never rested easy on the fact that a female Knight was supposedly superior to them.
For some anyway, and those she pacified with a public duel. It happened so often back in Ipsen that Alleria discovered it was a better way to resolve personal conflicts.
Looking over to Ricard's shivering form, she grimaced. Apparently, it wasn't the norm outside of Ipsen.
"Maybe under better circumstances you can get whatever answer you wanted from that battle, at the very least somewhere drier would be preferred. Unlike some of the others though, I feel I can trust you to watch my back at least, so I guess I ought to thank you for attacking me"
"Uh, you're welcome?"
With that, Ricard re-enters his room, while Alleria returned to hers. As soon as she entered the room, she quickly locked the door and removed her mantle and the upper portion of her battle dress. Staring down at her arms, she sighed.
Although she was well used to the bruises sustained on the arms, she had never seen it this bad. It did not hurt that much unless pressure was put on it. Properly putting her dress back on, she laid on the bed, letting out a huge sigh.
He's good, she thought to herself, a dismal voice speaking in the depths of her mind.
[OOC: By the way, you mixed Annelise for Alleria. XD]
ooc: Well spotted :lew: blasted A names xD
ic:
Ricard sat himself by the windowledge, watching the rain fall was oddly peaceful when done indoors as well as providing a distraction for while he waited for his clothes to dry.
"Ugh, first my armour, now my clothes, I should really pack more if i'm going to go through them so much..."
Half joking to himself, of course. Ricard then spotted a flash of lightning, followed by the sillhouette again, it was a wonder that whoever it was hadn't froze to death out there yet. However, for now he'd have to wait till his clothes dried before he could go and pursue her and if need be, dispatch her.
Hearing his stomach growl he realised he hadn't eaten a thing since he departed from Alexandria with the others and all the fighting had worked up an appetite. Walking out of his room Ricard began to walk down to the dining area of the inn to see if there was any food there.
Annelise Steiner
"He, well I suppose you've twisted my arm, can't let you go on your own to represent Alexandria, i'll go on one condition though. I do things my way, put simply i'm not taking orders from him, if there's nothing else though..."
Annelise smiled over the fact that he agreed to take part. Of course, she'll have to talk to Robert on that, but the animosity between the two knights were bad in the terms of the alliance between Alexandria and Burmecia.
"Oh and one last thing, i'd try and keep Robert's mouth shut a little more, I doubt Garnet would approve of him referring to her mother as a 'bitch' last thing we need now is friction in this alliance we have to go along with. It already sickens me that we're apparently Burmecia's lapdogs when the moment calls for it"
"I understand what you mean." Annelise said, "To be honest, his remark was a bit out of term. But even if we are acting under Burmecia's wishes, we have to do our best."
After watching Ricard leave, she was about to turn around only for someone to crash into her, moving her forward a bit. She quickly turned around only to see Lan there.
"Anne? You ok? You looking nervous there. You wanna grab something to eat while we grab supplies before heading to Clerya?"
Anne scowled, "I'm not nervous, just tired." In reality, Anne was both nervous and tired. They were going to head deep into enemy held territory to rescue the Stadtholder of Cleyra, and Lan could probably suspect she was lying. That and the fact that her stomach was grumbling loudly that anyone would've heard it. Her face red, Anne said "But, I guess we could get something quick to eat before we head off."
Anne began walking down the corridor, hopefully Lan was following suit, and as she walked out of the inn, she saw Ricard facing away from Alleria, her sword already drawn.
Theme-Lost Painting
"Wasted energy? You're free to let me take over your night patrol, Knight."
Annelise saw Alleria move in to attack Ricard, only for the Pluto Knight to deflect the attack with his own blade and move away to keep his distance from the Ipsen Knight
"You really have no idea what you're dealing with, huh?
So, why are you so determined to fight me anyway? Did I make you cry earlier? I always figured Ipsen Knights were made of stronger stuff"
"Really? That's good to hear, and I would have thought a Knight like yourself would have just a little more honor than that."
"You would, wouldn't you?"
As Alleria moved to strike again, Annelise started to wonder to herself why Ricard was not directly attacking, rather waging a war of words than of blades, especially against an opponent that seemed to be just as skilled, if not more or less so than he was. Ricard did counter the strike with an attack of his own, a wave of energy that shot out of his Katana, an attack that struck Alleria in the arm, but she seemed to shrug the attack off.
"How about we stop this? I see no benefit from either of us defeating the other, or is an ego boost that important to you?" Ricard said sheathing his sword, causing Alleria to do the same.
"U-uh. I just w-wanted to thrash things out."
"Well you certainly have a unique way of getting to know people, remind me not to date you unarmed. Maybe under better circumstances you can get whatever answer you wanted from that battle, at the very least somewhere drier would be preferred. Unlike some of the others though, I feel I can trust you to watch my back at least, so I guess I ought to thank you for attacking me"
"Uh, you're welcome?"
Anne saw the two of them reenter the inn, passing Annelise as they headed inside. But to her, this made her think of what she would say to Ricard when they were off to Cleyra, in the meantime, she turned towards Lan, "You see any places where they serve food?"
----
The Twinsword
The Twinsword too saw the fight go on amid the Thunderstorm, and even though she nearly got caught during the battle, she saw how Ricard managed to fight his opponent to a draw, despite not having actively fought in the battle. She too wondered why not actively defeat her in battle.
Free running was a practice that she picked up from her comrade back in the Civil War, and Twinsword use that ability to make her way to an open window in the inn that Ricard just so happened to walk into. The fact that no one was inside was good, giving her some time to sneak around and see what people are talking about. Such idle gossip could be just small talk, but given the right incentive, could reveal plans that could threaten her Kingdom's plans.
Lan Ester
Lan smiled as he followed Anne outside. After watching a fierce match between Ricard and Alleria, Lan smiled a bit as he can see interesting things already before the trip and the possible fights between them.
"You see any places where they serve food?"
Looking around the area, Lan spies a pub just across of the inn.
"How about the pub?" Lan asked as he walked over to the pub. The sign to the side showed the day's special, which was Soup de la Chocobo. Lan's grin faded slightly at the name of the soup.
'I hope there's no chocobo in the soup.' Lan thought as he entered the pub hopefully with Anne following. Pulling up a stool at a table, Lan waved down a waitress and asked for the special.
"I hope no chocobo died in the making of this soup. I got a question to ask you. Did you at any point in your knighthood, get a chance to see Zidane?" Lan muttered.
