I'm putting this in FF Fun because it's not really something that's gonna generate serious discussion, but this is just a thought I had a few minutes ago.

Snow's Shiva Sisters represent Lightning and Serah. This can mainly be seen in the actual fight with them, where he basically has to shut up and take the abuse that they give him if he wants to be a part of the family.

Nyx, who is Lightning, is the one who gives him the abuse, just as Lightning does in game, and he pretty much proves his maturity and inspires her belief in him by never giving up and staying tough throughout the game.

Stiria on the other hand, plays a supportive role, and the Doom spell she casts on him not only represents the ticking time bomb towards becoming a Cieth, as it does with the others, but the time he has to save her. As well as that, all she does in the battle after casting Doom is keep him healed, and she plays a mainly supportive role when summoned, compared to the more aggressive and violent Nyx/Lightning, which is similar to Serah's role, important though it is. As well as that, Stiria can't be targeted in battle, representing how Serah is out of Snow's reach -aside from AoE attacks- and unable to be found.

...Well, there's my theory. :wacky: Discuss etc etc.
 
wow that's a very believable theory. Perhaps it applies for other characters with their respective eidolons too? But I can't think of anything though.

Another interesting observation I read from the final fantasy wiki is that characters from Cocoon (Hope, Lightning, Sazh and Snow) destroy their crystals when summoning eidolons. Fang and Vanille who originate from pulse, let their crystals disappear by themselves.
 
I don't see it. I think you're giving it a little too much credit. After playing SMT games, I can understand why you would keep an eye out for any sort of symbolism :wacky:. But if you are right then I have this to say: ..so what? Is that really something worth subtle allegory? what for? The guy was hovering in a sphere of fireworks with the girl on a flying motorcycle-type vehicle after he asked her to marry him, and Lightning keeps decking him square in the face. They actually conversed about the very thing you're hinting at with what the Shiva sisters supposedly represent, so if Nyx and the other really are based on Lightning and Serah in a symbolic sense then it's only redundant, useless and stupid.
 
Does this mean Snow is going to ride Lightning and Serah like a motorcycle? :awesome:

it might happen in FFXIII-2 since it was said characters will return with unexpected changes :D rofl

but at least the symbolic interpretation apparently shows that the game is deeper than we thought.
 
Hence why it's in FF Fun as opposed to the main section. :lew: And yes, I analyse things far too much. Shoot me. :wacky:
 
So, does Hope's Eidolon mean he's vastly overcompensating for lack of something else? :lew:

But Snow's eidolon can't be the only ones representing people if this theory holds up. I just think SE were trying to be "cool" by splitting up his eidolons. As to why he rides them that way I dunno o__O Serah better watch her man.
 
I read something about this on TV Tropes a while ago. I think it does actually make a lot of sense to me about there being some subtle representation of Snow's relationship with both women.
 
I think that's quite an interesting theory. Symbolism and representation is in every text, so whats to stop them representing it in this case?

Mind, that doom theory could apply for every character when they do their Eidolon fight.
