UPDATE: Fox, Rodriguez Rebooting Predator Series
Source: IESB
April 23, 2009

Robert Rodriguez and 20th Century Fox are giving Predator a facelift in a new film entitled Predators. First reported by Bloody-Disgusting in January, the official announcement came today via a news conference today at the Texas-based Troublemaker Studios where Rodriguez was on hand for the signing of a new state film incentive.

"I'm going to be able to shoot my upcoming 'Machete' here, a sci-fi action film called 'Nerverackers,' a re-boot of the 'Predator' series called 'Predators,' and a couple of smaller movies called 'Sin City 2' and 'The Jetsons,'" he told the press.

If you recall, Rodriguez penned a Predator 3 script some time ago that was discarded because it was "too big."

Pretty interesting.

Seems like it could be a good fit. Rodriguez is pretty good with those hyper-realistic kind of worlds that the Predator franchise certainly populates. I didn't think the last AvP was that bad either though...Always enjoy seeing 'em blow the shit out of those stupid Aliens. *nyuk nyuk* The one problem with the Predators is finding them a worthy adversary...Though with the last films they've sort of been quasi-anti-heroes too...They're an odd bunch, but definite high cool factor no matter what you do with 'em.

I liked the AVP movies thus far, like ^ he said, I enojyed watching the aliens die. The last one was pretty cool as well, the ending was pretty cool. It's funny he calls ''Sin City 2" A small movie though lol.

I'm not sure that I'm too fond of this trend of remaking 'B' movies and trying to turn them into more popular movies, as that's what happened with Indiana Jones.
The predator movies were about 1 man vs Predator. The first one had Arnie, the second Danny Glover, so casting is pivotal. Christian Bale could probably pull it off, as well as Cillian Murphy, the only problem is that they're both actors, so they probably have better things to do. I'd like to see Zack Efron in it, just for the lulz. It'll probably be just another one of those forgettable action movies.

I cant say I am too surprised by this. It seems like every old school movie is getting a new instalment; Indianna Jones, Terminator, Rocky, Rambo... So yeah, it doesnt surprise me that a new predator film is being made.

I've only seen the first AVP film and it didn't do too much for me. The first Predator movie was alright, but I'm not overly hyped about this announcement.

I remember watching the Predator movies as a kid. I loved them. XD

Alien Vs Predator was pretty decent as well and I enjoyed that.

Hopefully this update will be an improvement with the technology available these days and that they don't RUIN IT! :gasp:

The first Predator wasn't just about 1 man versus 1 Predator...Maybe you forget the entire platoon Arnie was kicking around with...? Y'know? The guys the Predator shot to shit one by one? The Predators are hunters and they kill...if you just put 'em up against just one guy, it's not going to be all that interesting...Plus, no one man is going to be believable enough to stand much of a chance against one. Arnie got lucky a few times as you'll recall (getting past the infra-red with the mud and such)...

I remember a while back when he wanted to make part 3, he had mentioned he wanted Dwayne Johnson or Vin Diesle to start in the movie.

I wouldn't mind seeing Dwayne Johnson in it, not to sure about Vin though.

The second Predator movie for me was just abit silly. I enjoyed it, but the whole "gang war" thing about the beginning was pathetic. Too heavily overdone. It got better as it went on though.

I'm pretty up for seeing a new one.

Predator: Starring Arnold Swarchenegger.
Who led the team? he did, who was the survivor, again he was. The conflict is always about the last person left alive, it's a recurring theme in horror movies, especially in 'b' grade horror movies, it comes down to 1vs1. There may be other people that get killed first, remember in the second one, Predator kills his best friend. There's one central performance and the film is about how the central character relates to the rest of his team, who are secondary in importance, and his duel vs Predator.
For the remake they're going to need someone youngish with star power to draw crowds, and there are very few actors imo who would have the charisma or charm necessary to involve the audience.

Who is going to see this film when it comes out in the next couple of weeks?

I don't know what to make of it as this could just be another attempt to extend the Predator series and end up being a piece of shit or it could end up sparking a whole new lease of life into the Predator franchise.

What do you guys think?

I wanna see this movie just because of the fabulous Adrian Brody.

In any case, Predators came out today in the U.S., and so far, it looks like it's getting half-decent reviews. IMDb has an overall rating of 7.9/10 out of 1,289 reviews (as of this posting), and the site's reviews say that it has good acting (with intelligent actors), great action, and a simple but effective plot.

I'm actually really looking forward to seeing this. I figured it'd suck ass, being a Hollywood action flick, and a sequel to a movie that's had enough shitty sequels as it is.

Woo! :awesome:

Im just happy the original score was used throughout the movie, specially at the end credits

Loads of people started laughing and I started singing along cause Im special XD But yeah, it was kinda predictable with
the doctor as he just so didnt fit in with rest of them and I was wondering what purpose he was going to serve
. Lawerence Fishburne
didnt last long, as I predicted before watching. He was kinda useless and would have been best left out of it.

Glad the "incident" from '87 was mentioned, I was praying it would get mentioned cause no way would that have been kept secret. I agree it did feel like Lost for first 30 minutes lol. Loved the Billy part they threw in, but was surprised the "You are one ugly motherfucker" line wasnt used. A few people mentioned that after the film, glad Im not the one geek noticing stuff like that XD I thought the woman (only woman in it) was going to be related to Elpidia Carrillo from the other Predator film, she looks so much liek her!

I'm going to see it just because it's a Predator movie. I love the first two movies, AvP was shit, and I didn't see AvP2 so I can't say anything about that movie. Another reason that I'm going to see it is because I wanna see Topher Grace die (though I have a feeling that he's not). That's probably screwed up, but I don't care. I really hate him. I don't even like Spider-Man, but he completely ruined Venom. The only satisfying part of that whole movie was seeing him get blown up. Oh, that was just too great.

I really want to see this movie so much now :P and yeah AvP2 was nothing special in my honest opinion if anything it spoilt the first film.

But now I know it has atleast half decent reviews im going to have to try and get to see this sometime soon.....

I saw this the other night and really didn't like it as much as the originals.

Arnie made that movie awesome in my opinon. <3

This latest one just didn't feel the same to me. I really didn't like it.

1 and 2 were great. The last three have been poo.

Yeah I agree - the first one was my favourite, second was pretty good, and it's all been downhill from there.

The last line of the latest film in partuicular ruined it for me - such an anti-climax!

I actually liked this movie when I saw it at the cinema's, ive also downloaded it already. I enjoyed it. Lawrence Fishburn is awesome imo..too bad his role was so small in this flick.

I did not really like the hound types, but hey..and the absence of wildlife struck me..maybe the predators exterminated everything on the planet which was served as a battleground/hunting ground.

I liked the newer types of the predators that were slightly bigger then the original predators..you could see their teeth like a skull..and the small predator who aided the humans was very nice imo..

The Yakuza 1 on one battle was sweet imo, I really liked that scene..

The russian was also epic :P

I liked the movie. :)
