Which did you chose in your first game?

I myself am 1 for defense. I love to be well protected. So i chose the Shield and I sacrafised the Staff.

I looked online and discovered what each meant.

The Sword Raises Strength. Increases Attack Power.

The Staff Raises Intellect. Increases Mana and Magic Power.

The Shield Raises Defense. Increases Attack Reduction.

--------------------

The Sword Sacrifice Strength for Defense / Intellect.

The Staff Sacrifice Magic Power for Attack Power / Defense.

The Shield Sacrifice Defense for Strength / Intellect.

So what did you chose and now looking at this, would you have changed?

Why did you chose and reject those ones? Please state why as I dont want this place full of one liners that dont really add much.

I always choose the sword and reject the staff. Since you get a party member that already has high defense and another who uses magic, the only thing left for the party is a offensive powerhouse. Besides I tend to attack more than anything else.

Very good point. But woulnt it be obivious to chose the "warrior" path in a way? You wouldnt want to try more with magic or better defense? Interesting.

I chose to use the sword and sacrificed the staff. I don't think I would have changed this.

I chose this combinations because i am a very melee person in these kind of games, the only spell i use regularly is cure spells anyway and I needed melee defence.

I generally prioritise the staff. I'm a huge fan of magic, but I do like to have a level of physical prowess in any game which has such statistics. However in the respect of KH, I sacrificed the sword. Magic is my assault for the most part, so having a defense is essential.

It actually goes in order from easy to hard : Shield, Staff, Sword.
Although I went for the Sword and got rid of the shield.

I chose the staff and got rid of the shield.

To be honest, I prefer to fully utilize my magic as well as my physical strength. However, I also try to avoid being swarmed by heartless at the same time. Thus, magic is useful for picking them off from afar if I don't feel like bashing heartless around.

...not to mention, having a lot of MP available is good when you need that Cure/Cura/Curaga spell handy >.<

I chose defence shield. I knew it was going to be a long game so I don't want to use out all my potions.

I choose the staff and got rid of the sword so that I could cast spells and live longer since I wouldn't really need physical power just my magic.

First couple time I would chose my sword to start and dump the staff, not really knowing how the game would unfold. Some other times I got rid of the sheild to make things more intresting and not delve head first into a swarm of enemies. I know at one point in time I did choose a staff and think I got rid off the sword, oddly enough I think thats the game I might have beaten all the optional bosses like phatom and kurt ziza(sp).

My first time through on Expert Mode, I prioritized the Staff and ditched the Shield, but I really wish I didn't. For a beginner like me, Defense is really important on a higher difficulty setting, not to mention those who choose the Shield get Guard at a very early level. Still, there were some benefits to having a lot of MP, but it didn't really help me at all until I got Cure. Of course, Phantom was actually pretty easy for me, so I guess there's something to be said for the Staff's usefulness later on in the game.

I normally go with the sword while choosing to sacrifice the shield. The defensive techniques you'd learn at an earlier level should you choose the shield aren't worth it. I'd prefer to obtain the powerful physical abilities early on.

I chose the sword and ditched the staff. I don't use magic like ever, Im sure that will come back and bite me on the arse. Stupid game is already winding me up...

The sword, shield and staff only affect your initial stats - they don't bare any part in your development throughout the game. You might, however, find it more difficult to heal yourself as often as you need to and might have to rely on ethers more.

1st Choice / 2nd Choice / MP / AP/ STR/ DEF
Sword / Rod / 2 / 1 / 5 / 2
Sword / Shield / 2 / 3 / 5 / 1
Rod / Sword / 3 / 3 / 2 / 3
Rod / Shield / 3 / 3 / 4 / 1
Shield / Sword / 2 / 3 / 3 / 4
Shield / Rod / 2 / 1 / 4 / 4
The only thing that this does for the rest of the game is determine the order in which Sora will learn his abilities.

I always picked the sword and ditched the staff. I've never cared much for magic in KH 1. Especially after you get Donald. I'm always for strength. So I always pick the same every playthrough.

I chose the sword and rejected the shield. I was pretty confident that I wouldn't be hit and wanted to deal the most damage that I could. Needless to say, it worked pretty well. :awesome:
