Just had one, whole street and a couple of surrounding streets all without electric for about half hour, with some weird sounding alarm going off.

Made me miss the end of Russel Howard.

But on the other hand, I actually quite enjoyed making shadow images on the ceiling with a candle and my hands.

So yeah, power cuts anyone? Do you enjoy them in a complete childish way like I do?

We get power cuts whenever there's a big storm coming. Almost always happens at night though, or if it's ever in the morning, I'm out anyway.

I enjoy the power cuts even if it makes me miss the internet and the fan. I like sitting on the porch and doing nothing. It's rare to have those opportunities to relax and really relax. It's quite breezy as well so there's no problem in terms of the temperature.

I remember the last time we had a power cut, I was drawing just to pass the time. In the end I managed to come up with a rather nice drawing--I used to want to become an artist. Then me and my sister set up a small bonfire and were trying to toast weird things. :wacky: Just the simple things like that are great, I think.

It is strange how, say if the TV, PC, PS3 or whatever else failed to work for whatever reason it gets really annoying and somehow you want to make them work, but when the power cuts out, it's kind of nice to not have these things, aswell as no lights and such.

We don't get a lot of power outages. The last one was maybe a few months ago when I was getting ready for school. I was sitting on the couch after coming from the shower and then all of a sudden I heard this loud explosion. Apparently, the power went out for some stupid reason. There wasn't any bad weather or high winds, which is usually why the power would go out. Unfortunately, I had no power to at least dry my hair. That kinda sucked.

I don't necessarily enjoy them, but I suppose it's good to not have to rely on electricity every now and then.

I like it how a power cut forces everyone to entertain themselves without any electricity, but often this is ruined by someone stressing about the refrigerator defrosting or the consequences of the cut on some other stupid machine.

But we don't have many power cuts here, last one was a few years ago when someone rammed a big electricity pole or something like that.

We haven't had a power cut for ages, and even when we do have them, they only happen really late at night, or early in the morning, so they don't disrupt people too much.

It's really annoying though because we have about six houses near us that, whenever there is a power cut, have alarms which go off for hours. So, not only do you have to listen to six loud blaring alarms, you have no electricity to turn on something to drown them out.

My power goes out at my apartment all the time if there's a storm. It usually happens in the middle of the night though. I don't even notice until I go in the kitchen and the stove timer is blinking 12:00. Last time we had one was in the middle of the day though; my sister and I entertained ourselves with our laptops until the power came back on. :wacky:

I don't mind them so much as long as I have candles or a flashlight. The only time they really suck is when it's freezing outside. >_>

I dont like power outages. My streets has the weakest transformers ever and with a little wind and rain the power, most of the time, goes out for a second. Its anouying when it goes out and u think its done for the day, u start up ur computer and BAM! another surge! But when one does go out for longer then 10 minutes and im at home I usually just go find some light and draw or read till the power turns back on. Power outages are the one thing i hate about thunderstorms but other then that I would love to see storms every single day if I had the choice, there so cool to watch and look at, specially after the clouds start clearing and its during a sunset. The sky looks stunning.

We usually get them during the spring/summer seasons, when it rains and storms more often. Snow usually doesn't knock out the power as much as thunderstorms do. And I do enjoy having a little bit of childish fun when the light go out. Sometimes we will play a little hide and seek or maybe make hand images with a flashlight. :D

I hate it when the power goes out.

The only thing to really do is go to bed.

I just keep thinking about the food in the fridge and how bored I am.

It's hard to entertain yourself in the dark, which is the only time we seem to get black outs.

Though we haven't had one in a few years, thankfully.

I don't think we've had one lately, or certainly not when I've been at my house. They suck badly though because we live in a village so it takes ages for anyone to come and sort it out, there was one that lasted a good 8-12 hours, fortunately it was around 11PM so it wasn't that bad. I'm surprised we haven't had one lately though with the snow and such like :mokken:

You people are poor sports =P - I love when the power goes out, but not in the summer. When it's summer around here I can feel the sweat trickling off me when I go to sleep at night.

When it's winter or anything else, we have crazy amounts of blankets. I usually light a candle and read a book. There's also the romantic side of it... what's romantic about stumbling around in the dark? Candles.. incense.. the works.

Also I've had a few friends over and the power went out and it made for a pretty cool drinking scene. Thank god the lady buys like 20,000 candles whenever we go to walmart/yankee candle/etc..

I remember watching the Eurovision out of boredom one time a few years ago- and all the power went out when it was Germany's turn to perform. That irritated me- I really had nothing to do and we were stuck in the dark.

We didn't have any candles in the house, so we had fun trying to navigate around the house in the darkness. I can't remember when the power came back- I remember waking up in the morning and delighted to discover I could turn the TV on to the music channel.

If my brother faces one now- he would be absolutely furious. He's an MMO addict and needs his constant supply of power to keep his character alive.
