I doubt sales of the PS3 will increase 30-50 percent.

I went out and bought a backwards compatible PS3 several months ago.I would much rather have one of those if I wanted a PS3 than one of the newer slimlines.

Plus there is still a lack of quality rpgs for the machine in my opinion.I might be one of the few players who only plays rpgs though so maybe my opinion is skewed.
Sony needs more quality games for the machine.
 
Meh. Price drops are always cool. It should spike sales some.

So, PS3 now going to be $250.
 
I plan on hopefully getting one sometime soon when I have the money :grin: This price drop helps me :lew:

Yes :gasp: We can get them together :reptar: I really want to play Demon Souls and actually play through Final Fantasy XIII (YEAH YEAH), as I haven't beaten it yet.

Lucky for me, the price has dropped when I've been looking to buy one. :ohoho: Good thing I cancelled my order from Play as Amazon has the same PS3 bundle and it's around £50 cheaper.
 
I suppose it's about time companies started thinking about Christmas, hence the price drop. I've had my PS3 for a year and a half or so, and it's the 250GB model, so I'm not too annoyed by this rather abrupt price-cut. It seems to be the thing to do with expensive consoles these days, since the 3DS just got a cut...I wonder when the 360 will receive the same treatment.

UK: 160 GB PlayStation 3 Slim on sale now for £165


A couple of voucher codes have resulted in Tesco Direct offering 160GB Slim model PlayStation 3 consoles for just £165, according to HotUKDeals.
The retailer’s stocks ran low yesterday, but a new shipment has since brought the deal back into effect.
Sony recently dropped the price of new PS3 consoles to £199, resulting in a reported 65 percent increase in sales.

So, now it cost the same price for a PS3 as when I bought my Wii? Too bad I don't even have enough money for that right now, or I would totally get one. :sad3:
 
Tsk, the more tempting they make it, the more skeptical it makes me. I doubt they're releasing a new Playstation anytime soon, but oh well. I hope that when I do get down to buying, they won't release a new Playstation...
 
I also doubt a new PS is one the way. It really has decreased. Half price from the slim even..
 
They aren't going to be releasing anything for another 2 to 4 years. The current generation of systems (minus the Wii) can last till around 2015 apparently. I only want a PS3 for a few games, so I may look into a used one. But if I can get a new one I will. I want some of its RPGs :gasp:
