So do you guys consider yourselves picky in what you play? Will you not buy or try out a game for any small reason?

For me, I admit that probably something that's holding me back from great games is graphic gore. I understand with newer generation consoles, the general aim is to be as realistic as possible, but I'm really squeemish, so I balk at games with too much blood and gory bits, even if it's praised for every other aspect.

Like I'm hearing the epicness of "The Origami Killer", and I really wanna try it, but I don't think I'll be able to get over potentially squeemish scenes (unless there aren't any :hmmm: )

As well, another turning point in the gaming seems to be online playability - something I don't really care for. For one, I'm not even sure how to rig my PS3 for online play, and I get the feeling it won't be easy with my current set-up. But more than anything, I like playing games on my own, so I'd want to buy a game that I can have a decent amount of time playing on my own and isn't dependent on the internet to get a good portion of the experience.

The's kind of why I don't wanna try "White Knight Chronicles". There seems to be a short solo game mode in, but it appears to be require online playability to enjoy the full game :/

So yeah, games that are too gory and are only good if you have the internet I won't bother trying. How about you guys?

Oh yes I'm most definatley a picky gamer, I dont tend to play just any old game and tend to always want to get a general Idea of how the game is before I actually decide to shell out for it.

Normally I want to try at least a demo of a game or if its online I will try to play the beta before I make a final decision, if thats impossible I usually spend a bit of time researching customer feedback to get a general idea if the game is worth its money.

I'm a picky gamer. I refuse to play any form of shooting game. I can't stand shooting games. Derives from the fact I absolutely SUCK at these games. I can't stand playing the likes of Tomb Raider or Resident Evil. I just. can't. do. it.

I'll buy any game that looks like a decent RPG. I'm an RPG freak. Or fighting games. I love those two. These are the only two genres I won't think twice about getting a game in.

I will occasionally try a strategy game. But only if I like the colours and/or story on the case. >_>

Other than that, unless a friend is adamant a game is awesome and I see them play it and agree... I won't buy outside of my preferred genre. >_>

I'm absolutely fine with third person action games - though strangely I'm not particularly keen on first person shooters. I'm picky in the sense that I tend to ignore FPS games and refuse to spend money on them. The reason why is probably because I am so awful at them. The right analogue stick - something FPS veterans are so adapt at using - I can never do it properly. I've tried a few FPS demos, and I get so frustrated when I have to depend on that stick.

I also refuse to go online to play when it comes to games with the action and shooting genres. Basically, I know I'll be awful and I don't necessarily feel like practising online and improving - probably because I doubt I will. I may go on an offline multiplayer mode though, but that's it. I usually keep gaming to myself.

I'm willing to try any game. Though that doesn't mean I go and buy anything on the shelf. If I hear that a game is good, I'll try to rent it to try it out or I'll play it first at a friends house to see if I like it.

The only types of games that I will not play are games based off of movies/tv shows, because face it, those tend to suck. (Though back in the old school days, some were quite good). I mean, do I really want to play a game based off the Divinci Code or Desparate House Wives?

No....I don't think I'm very picky about my games. I play basically every genre, but of course I have ones I don't care for (that being sports games) simply because I feel it's so repetitive. It takes games like Blitz: The League to bring my interest back into the games like that, adding other elements to the game. Although I do play them well, or at least moderately, I simply don't care for them.

Originally coming from PC gaming, I couldn't play many FPS when I moved to consoles because I simply hadn't invested time into it. Now I can pick up pretty much any FPS and at least be an average player on it by the time the first match is over.

FPS just take a bit of practice, and before you know it, you won't even be thinking about that right analog stick anymore. It'll just be natural for you :ryan:

I'm a picky gamer only because i don't have the money to just get any game i want. If i have the money to buy a game, i usually only have enough for one and it would be for one that i've been looking at and know i want.

I'm only into a few genre types. Usually if i spot a new RPG that i've never heard of i'll rent it before buying it to see if i like the first part of it. Same with shooter games. Other then that i don't enjoy any other genres. If its a game like Halo that just comes out with the next one, i won't rent it and just simply buy it because i already like the older games.

I'm very careful about what games I buy, in the sense that I'm tight on cash. I'll carefully research multiple games to see which one would suit what I like in a game the most.

As far as games that I actually enjoy, not at all. I enjoy everything from Halo Wars to NHL 10 to Soul Calibur IV to GRAW 2. I'll play almost any genre, although I tend to stray from fighters and strategies, while I go towards RPGs and platformers, as well as shooters.

Hmm i can be a picky gamer at times it depends wheather i have loads of money or if i dont.
the 3 of my fave genres are RPG, Fighters and Survival horrors there all amazing in the own different ways
  • obviously i love RPG's if i'm here i love them because i'm a story fag i love storys and i also love it that they look pretty as, the girls in it are not bad to look at aswell :P
  • i'm a very competitive person so fighters are amazing, i am also known to travel across the UK playing and entering in tornaments.
  • in survival horrors i love the suspence the fear the story telling, the running out of bullets its all good

I'm a little bit picky about games and some genres I don't particularly care for like sports games, although the wii has slowly changed that. I play pretty much every genre of game out there even like sims 2, spore and sim city 4, however I've found the first person shooters just come natural to me but that's because I've been playing them since duke nukem 64 was released, but even with first person shooters I'm a little bit picky about, like I never really cared much for the medal of honor, call of duty types of games. I was more of a wolfenstein, doom, quake kind of guy. Even the halo series I never really played. Fighter games are probably the ones I suck the most at like mortal kombat, dead or alive, tekken and street fighter. Overall I'm a lot more open minded when it comes to games then I used to be. I very rarely buy a game new at full price, I usually wait a few months see if it's worth it, let prices go down and get a better deal on ebay or amazon, it works out better if you have a little bit of patience.

:hmmm: Meh. I wouldn't say that i'm picky about my games. Being too picky limits me and well, I like trying different varieties and i'm not going to not 'try' a game out just because the graphics are 'crappy' or they got 'bad' reviews. I like to try the games myself and decide on whether I like it or not. :griin:

I'm VERY picky. Maybe 4 or so games every year pique my interest enough for me to buy them, and out of those 4, perhaps 2 are able to hold my interest long enough for me to complete them. When I was younger I used to devour any game I could get my hands on, but nowadays I just don't have the time to waste. If I don't find a game to be absolutely enthralling, I'd rather spend my time doing something else.

I research mot of the games I play. But if its Mass Effect or Fable, then yeah Ill go and grab it. But ones like Magna Carta, I research as the previous game was terrible. Final Fantasy I research too as some of their games have been awful, eg Crystal Chronicles. I hate paying for games, then seeing how much of a big let down they are.

I guess I'm pretty picky.

First person shooters are usually a no for me. I'm really uncoordinated when it comes to those sort of games.

I can't move around properly and it just frustrates me. I'd rather not put myself through that sort of torture. x_x

I'm not into games as much as I used to be and so I'll only buy RPG's which is the only genre I'm interested in anymore. And it has to be one that really appeals to me in every way and it always starts with the graphics. If I'm going to spend a great deal of time in front of the T.V playing a game for a good few hours then I want it to be appealing graphics wise.

That's all really. >.<
